Synopsis

Kyoutaro Ichikawa may look like your average middle school student, but in his heart, he dreams of murder. Thus, it is no surprise that the one he wants to kill the most is never far off from his mind: the class idol, Anna Yamada. Reading alone in his beloved school library, he inadvertently begins to rendezvous with Yamada, who comes to secretly gorge on her beloved candies and sweets. Through their interactions, Ichikawa discovers just how much of a ditz Yamada is, and cannot help but support her from the sidelines. Meanwhile, Yamada herself cannot help but tease Ichikawa relentlessly due to his flustered reactions. With an array of heartwarming daily interactions, the distant bond between the two grows into something more than just library acquaintances. Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu ranked third and ninth in the 2020 and 2021 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division, respectively. It also ranked first in the Best Web Manga category at the sixth Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2020. The manga was nominated for the 13th Manga Taisho Award and placed 11th in the final ranking. The series has been published in English as The Dangers in My Heart by Seven Seas Entertainment since July 20, 2021.

She’s very considerate of others, such as eating snacks by herself due to her friend Chii having allergies. This consideration is tied to something of a guilt complex, which leads to bouts of anxiety where she feels she’s inconvenienced other people to the point of tears. Initially, Kyotaro had delusions of killing Anna and making her corpse his alone, but they were replaced by romantic affection as he spends more time around her. He can be quite perceptive in social situations but often fails to pick up on other social problems due to his lack of communication skills and low self-esteem.
