Synopsis

Eleven years after the introduction of internet-connected, augmented reality eyeglasses and visors, Yūko Okonogi moves with her family to Daikoku City, the technological center of the emerging half-virtual world. Yūko joins her grandmother's "investigation agency" comprised of children equipped with virtual tools and powerful metatags. She quickly crosses paths with Yūko Amasawa, an expert hacker of the virtual environment, as Amasawa relentlessly seeks to "unlock" the mystery of a computer virus that emerges from an inaccessible corrupted space. Nicknamed Isako, which is another reading of 勇子 meaning "brave girl", Yūko Amasawa is a powerful type of hacker known as an "encoder" who breaks into the code and infrastructure of the virtual world itself for power and metabugs. Rumored to have familial ties to an AR technology company, Isako uses a Brain-Computer Interface to interact with the virtual world -- a function supposedly hidden deep inside the hardware of AR visors and eyeglasses. Isako relentlessly chases a special type of "living metabug" virus that harbors a keyhole in its body. Isako is, on the surface, extremely arrogant and nonsocial, perceiving human relationships strictly as hierarchies of power.

Yasako, together with her parents and younger sister, moved to the city of Daikoku to live with their grandmother, Megabaa. Yasako is a sweet and passive girl who follows the lead of Fumie, who eventually initiates her into Megabaa's Coil Dennō Investigation Agency as its eighth member. Yasako means "gentle girl".

She is an experienced hacker and an adept user of metatags; Oyaji is her servant helping in the investigations. She is Daichi's rival and their loud personalities cause them to often clash and fight—despite this he has feelings for her that she hasn't noticed. Additionally, she has a younger brother by two years named Akira, who perceives her as too much of a bully (to him) and tries to document these moments behind her back to use against her in the future.
