About this title
Synopsis
A mysterious man known as "the King of Death" roams the streets of pre-war Shanghai in this action-packed prequel to Fist of the North Star. Shanghai in the 1930s is a dangerous place. Foreign governments and Chinese factions have carved the city into different quarters, each with its own laws and government, and all rife with corruption. As the major powers vie for political control, the streets are left to local gangs. Life is cheap, and death is always near. In days past, one man walked these mean streets battling the forces of evil. He was known only as Yan Wang, "the King of Death." Few knew who he really was, but many knew that he was a master of Hokuto Shinken - Fist of the North Star - a lethal martial art. He disappeared years ago after dispatching the city's worst gangsters, and is now rumored to be in Japan. Various people have come to Japan in search of him, but who will find him first?

Main characters
Kenshirou Kasumi72 fan favoritesExternal profileThe main character and 62nd successor to Hokuto Shinken. Known in Shanghai as "Yán Wáng" (閻王, En'ou). Loves smoking cigarettes, reading, and has a good smelling instinct. His fighting technique is similar to Toki, in which he fights in a fluid and smooth fighting style. In Japan, he's a lecturer at the Touwa Women's University. Depicted as somewhat easy going, as well as comical; compared to his namesake and nephew, Tetsuo Hara describes Kenshirou Kasumi as a combination of the strength of Kenshirou, the good nature of Keiji Maeda from Hana no Keiji and the sarcastic attitude of the title character of Nakabou Rintarou. However, remains the stoic persona which would be eventually seen in his nephew. He uses the same catch-phrase as his nephew, "You're already dead" (お前はもう死んでいる, Omae wa mou shindeiru), but pronounces it in Chinese, "Nǐ yǐ jīng sǐ le" (儞已經死了). Despite the fact that his father Tesshin is the successor of Hokuto Shinken, Kenshirou is revealed to be descended from the Hokuto Souke bloodline from his mother's side of the family.
Zongwu Liu2 fan favoritesExternal profileDriven to revenge by the death of his family, Zōng-Wǔ turned evil and joined the Nazis as a German army officer even though he is Chinese. He had the chance to kill Adolf Hitler, but didn't because he felt Hitler is too pitiful a prey for him to kill. (Source: Wikipedia) No voice actors have been added to this character.
