Synopsis

In a world of fantasy creatures and dreadful monsters, the Hunters Guild, a large agency of mercenaries, welcomes dangerous jobs of slaughtering beasts for money. Though many rumors are spread about the greed of the hunters, no one can deny that the job always ends up being done. When a small hamlet is plagued by a man-eating werewolf amongst its citizens, the mayor hires a hunter to take it down. Grimm—the hunter who arrives—leaves the villagers in doubt due to her childlike appearance, but, as they have no alternative, they pray that she lives up to the guild's reputation. Velou, whose parents were eaten by a werewolf when he was young, wishes to join the hunt but is deemed too inexperienced. However, when tasked with guiding Grimm through the forests and eventually fighting the werewolf alongside her, he is invited to join the Hunters Guild. Though Velou finds the offer to exterminate werewolves enticing, he still worries about his hamlet. Grimm, intent on recruiting new hunters into the guild, decides to put his worries to rest. Grimm is a huntress who works for the Hunters Guild. She is the deuteragonist of The Hunters Guild: Red Hood manga series. At some point in the past, Grimm was cursed by a witch. This hex transformed her into a child, and only with the Layer Clock is Grimm able to revert back to her true form temporarily. Under normal circumstances, Grimm takes on the appearance of a short girl with shoulder length blonde hair. During that time, she wears a red hood and green leather boots, with her suitcase attached to her back. When she reverts back to her original form, she appears as a tall, muscular woman, and her hair becomes significantly longer. When in her adult form, it's revealed that her boots are actually part of her pants, and that she is wearing a celeste colored shirt tucked into her pants. Additionally, it can be seen that she has a rather curvaceous figure, with huge breasts and wide hips. Grimm is a direct no-nonsense person. She prefers to act in a professional manner, not caring about any sorts of comments that people may make about her child-like appearance. Grimm sees her job strictly as a way to earn money, not thinking of herself or her fellow hunters as heroes. This extends into her perception of werewolves, as she does not believe there is anything "good" or "evil" about their eating habits. Velou is the main protagonist of The Hunters Guild: Red Hood manga series. He is a starry eyed young boy whose dream is to become a talented huntsman. Even though Velou isn't particularly good at hunting, he still tries his best to achieve his dream. He finally gets an opportunity to see how the real world of hunting is when the mysterious huntress Grimm comes to Kasoka Village to help exterminate the werewolf hiding nearby. A kindhearted youth, Velou tries to help and protect his village the best he can. He has a strong sense of justice, wanting to do things because they are good and the right thing to do. This mindset is both a blessing and a curse, as it has made Velou fiercely loyal to the people he cares about, but also naïve of the world around him.
