Main characters
Mio Sakamoto152 fan favoritesExternal profileAge: 20 The first Strike Witch and sub-commander of the unit, with the commissioned rank of Squadron Leader and official rank of Major. Mio is also the oldest witch at nineteen (later, twenty) years old and, like Yoshika, comes from Fuso. She is seemingly the toughest and most mature of the Witches, being an experienced veteran of the early fighting against the Neuroi. She knew Yoshika's father while he was first designing the Striker Unit and was the first person to pilot one. Mio's usual task is to train new recruits, and in this role she becomes a very strict disciplinarian, appropriately gaining the ears and tail of a Doberman when equipped with her Striker. Otherwise she is quite friendly, if a little too forward at times, with a very distinct laugh. Under Mio's eyepatch is a magic eye that grants her increased visual prowess and the ability to spot Neuroi cores when used. Being 19/20 years old however Mio's magical power has aged too far for her to erect effective shields in combat, however she can still fly and use her magical eye. Carries a 13mm Type99 Machine-gun into a battle along with a magical katana strapped to her back capable of cutting apart giant Neuroi. Her Striker Unit is based on the A6M Zero (in second season she receives a new Striker, based probably on the Kyuushuu J7W1 Shinden) and she herself is based on Saburo Sakai and Tetsuzō Iwamoto. Tomoko Anabuki4 fan favoritesExternal profileAn ace dogfighter from the Fuso Empire, she rose to fame after the initial Neuroi probing attack in the Fuso sea in 1937, where she shot down 7 enemy fighters. She was expecting to get deployed to the frontlines in Karlsland, but was ordered to Suomus instead. Based on Satoru Anabuki. No voice actors have been added to this character. Keiko Katou2 fan favoritesExternal profileKeiko participated in the Fuso Sea Incident as the Fuso Army Witch. She scored top kills at 6 consecutive kills. However, the Army used Anabuki Tomoko for its propaganda movie because Keiko's fighting style was not dogfight-based. Because of that, Keiko attempted a difficult and dangerous maneuver at the victory parade and crashed, sustaining severe injuries. Due to her injuries and the fact that she turned 20 while recuperating, she retired after giving up on returning to active duty, becoming a war correspondent. However, her reinstatement application resulted in her being assigned to the post of commanding officer for the Fuso Imperial Army African Expeditionary Force Independent Flight Squadron with the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Her fighter pilot archetype is Shouji Katou. No voice actors have been added to this character. Help improve our database by searching for a voice actor, and adding this character to their roles .
Fumika Kitagou2 fan favoritesExternal profileA witch from Fuso, and an officer of the Fuso Imperial Navy. When it comes to swords, her skills are on the level of possessing full mastery of Kodoukan Kendo. Since she was already a veteran since before the Fuso Sea Incident, Fumika employed an early striker unit that required a supporting backpack. She trained a number of ace witches, among them Mio Sakamoto, Junko Takei, and Tetsuko Wakamoto, whom she later led into battle during the Fuso Sea Incident. She was a particular influence on Sakamoto. After leaving active service, she went to serve as an assistant instructor at a kendo dojo in Maizuru. (Source: Strike Witches Wiki)
Junko Takei1 fan favoritesExternal profileTakei Junko (18 years old in '44) Service: Fuso Imperial Navy (Fusou Koukoku Kaigun) Familiar: White dog, believed to be of Kishu Inu breed A naval ace selected by the Fuso Imperial Navy to join the European Battle Fleet. A coworker of Sakamoto, the two are on a first-name basis. Because of the location of the base Takei was deployed to, and her behavior while there, she is also often called "the Lady of Reval". Although she will defer to Sakamoto in matters regarding personal combat ability, Takei is well-respected for her command and logistic skills, so much so that even Sakamoto would listen to her advice on the battlefield. After her European deployment ended, she returned to Fuso to train new recruits, and was later invited to the 504th Joint Fighter Wing. As an instructor, Takei stresses group cooperation and raising the overall standard of all her charges as most important, in contrast to the one-on-one spartan training offered by Sakamoto. A currently serving Fuso Imperial Navy air infantryman in 1944. The comic in which Takei primarily appears is a parallel setting to the anime, with differences in certain areas such as the way Miyafuji is recruited.
Tetsuko Wakamoto1 fan favoritesExternal profileWakamoto Tetsuko is the top flying ace of the Fuso Empire. She belongs to the 253rd Fighter Squadron of Fuso Imperial Navy Air Service. Tetsuko was in the same grade as Sakamoto Mio in junior-high and received training from the same instructor, Kitagou Fumika. On 1944, Wakamoto and Takei's heights have been reversed, Takei being taller now. Wakamoto uses logic and knowledge to do surprise attacks and hit-and-run strikes. Nishizawa is an artistic genius. Nishizawa's one of a kind nature is superior when it comes to chaotic battle. Wakamoto is perhaps better against large neuroi's since her attacks carry a bigger punch. Takeko Katou1 fan favoritesExternal profileA Fuso Army Witch that participated in the Fuso Sea Incident and Battle of Karlsland. Also known as "Fuji" and "Peregrine Falcon of the Fuso Sea". As a member of Fuso Army Air Service, Takeko participated in Fuso Sea Incident and scored two kills. Then she was reassigned to Karlsland Volunteer Flight Corps 3rd Squadron to participate in defense of Karlsland. There, she commanded the squadron and scored numerous victories. Along with Anabuki Tomoko and Katou Keiko, she was called the "Trio of the Fuso Sea" for their victorious achievements in Fuso Sea Incident. The three were also close friends. Takeko taught Keiko how to use camera, which became Keiko's career later on. Also she is the one who suggested Tomoko to be sent to Suomus instead of Karlsland because she was worried about Tomoko.
