Synopsis

Sanada North High School is home to three ordinary boys—Tadakuni, Hidenori Tabata, and Yoshitake Tanaka—who get into ordinary situations that any high school boy could find himself in. Rather than fretting over relationships or aiming for the national championships, the trio finds themselves trying on skirts, maximizing their summer vacation, and musing with a hopeless romantic by the riverside. Publication notes

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou was adapted into a live-action film featuring an original story. It was produced by Showgate and released on October 12, 2013 in Japan. Six drama CDs were released based on the manga. The series was published in English as The Daily Lives of High School Boys by Kodansha USA under the Vertical Comics imprint from August 4, 2020 to September 21, 2021.

He is in Class 2-A. He wears eyeglasses even though he has normal visual acuity. Hidenori serves as the main trio’s leader, always the one coming up with the wild ideas and crazy antics. He can actually perceive something as ridiculous but since he claims to be an entertainer, he tries to make the best of it. Despite appearing stoic, he has a tendency of overthinking simple situations and getting bored quite quickly. Still, Hidenori is shown to have a strong magnetic personality. For one, thanks to his profound speech, Hidenori became Yassan’s center of attention after she saw his similarity to the protagonist of her novel who has the power of the wind. Ever since then, he became morbidly frightened of her, trying to avoid meeting her at all cost, until a failed attempt to impress Yanagi made him realize Yassan’s appreciation of him. When he was younger, Hidenori got bullied a lot until Rubber Shooter showed up and saved him. He then began idolizing him and placing him in high regard till he suspected Yoshitake as the masked hero. In spite of his admittance that he finds the smallest things about Yoshitake annoying, he still appreciates what he does for him. Hidenori has an older brother named Yuusuke who used to be the ringleader of the group before he graduated high school, a cousin named Emi who spent a summer vacation with him, and an unnamed father who calls him Megane and laughs at his dreams. He has known Tadakuni and Yoshitake since middle school.

Yoshitake acts as the main trio’s fool who fervently goes along with Hidenori’s whims. Still, he is shown to be rather loyal and helpful, even lending a hand without being told. According to Hidenori, Yoshitake has a tendency of reacting impulsively, calling everything "surreal," being strict with rules, and crying at little things. He had an embarrassing childhood but the events are often misattributed to Mitsuo. Also, it is said that he is a Virgo like Hidenori, works at a part-time job like Tadakuni, and is unable to handle carbonated drinks. He has an unnamed older sister who he has a hostile relationship with. He admitted that he relies on her bad manners to convince himself that he is not the worst kind of person (although, by admitting this act, he realized that he is indeed worse). He has known Tadakuni since elementary school and Hidenori since middle school. He also has a wide circle of friends outside the trio.
