About this title

Synopsis

The protagonist of this story, Aichi Sendou, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. He had been living his life looking backward rather than forward, trying not to stand out. However, he had one thing that kept him going—the "Blaster Blade," a card from a card game that was given to him when he was little. That card is the reason why he begins to engage in Card Fights, something that changes his life drastically. The name of the card game is "Vanguard." The game takes place at a different planet called "Cray," and due to a never-before-seen play system, it becomes popular throughout the world. (Source: Wikipedia)

Birthday: June 6 Introduced as someone who in the beginning was timid and shy. Aichi gradually gains the confidence in himself and his deck in order to fight against the best Vanguard Players and in turn meets new friends and allies along with new rivals. During the fateful encounter with Kai, who was still a friendly teenager, he gave him the card Blaster Blade, telling him to imagine himself big and strong, like the royal knight depicted on the card. Aichi couldn't picture himself any stronger at that moment, but the card gave him courage. He constructed a deck in the hopes of finding Kai and having a cardfight with him, but shortly after their encounter, Kai had apparently moved away. He eventually transferred to a different school after his mom got upset over the constant bullying. Aichi lives with his mother and little sister, Emi. It is shown that Aichi isn't interested in school that much and his sister always woke him up, though this behaviour disappears after he starts playing Cardfight!! Vanguard. Aichi uses a Royal Paladin Deck. His strongest cards are Blaster Blade, Alfred "The King of Knights," Soul Saver Dragon, and Majesty Lord Blaster. In his final confrontation with Ren, Aichi adjusts his deck so that Blaster Dark is mixed in with his Royal Paladins so that he could use Majesty Lord Blaster's abilities to the fullest. In season 2, Aichi's deck changes into Gold Paladin clan, with his Ace card being Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel from Kourin. Aichi now puts in more effort to superior calling units from the deck, using the Blade Feather Valkyrie / Flash Edge Valkyrie combination, as well as Nimue and Viviane, and units that can activate their skills upon being called from the Deck. In season 3, Aichi has decided to use the Gold Paladin as his main deck. His deck consists of the Liberators cards which were originally Royal Paladin units along with his ace being his reborn avatar- Blaster Blade Liberator, though later Aichi modifies his deck around his new Crossbreak Ride card Liberator of Bonds, Gancelot Zenith in order to creating colossal units once cross ridden, and units like Viviane and Escrad will help Aichi fill up his field, so he can preserve his hand.

Kai is a serious person and doesn't like to joke around like other kids his age. He doesn't talk much or to anyone. When cardfighting, he is shown to be more serious and confident on winning the game without any need of support. Despite his selective mute personality, he has a best friend is, Taishi Miwa. Toshiki Kai main deck focus is the Kagerou clan deck. His trump card is Dragonic Overlord. His strongest and most commonly used cards are normally Flame Dragons. In season 2, Kai main deck focus is the Narukami clan deck. Kai stays with this clan in Season 3, although hasn't given up on his Kagero deck. After seeing how far Aichi has come, Kai now doubts his own strength in comparison and seems to be striving to prove that he's able to keep up.

The store assistant and niece of Shin Niita who owns Card Capital. She is a calm quiet girl who does not speak much but is known for her strong temper especially when around Morikawa. In season 2 Misaki will be taking part in Asia Circuit and will travel around Asia to fight different fighters, along with the rest of Team Q4. She seems to have problems in the first circuit as she could not handle against the new skill - Limit Break. In season 3 Misaki is now a second year at Miyaji Academy in which Aichi also attends. She also cut her hair to shoulder-length, but otherwise appears to be the same. She also changed her deck from Oracle Think Tank to Genesis in response to experimenting with her skills. She is a Vanguard player who is known to have the Indelible Memory which allows her to perfectly remember everything she sees using this ability to memorize the rules after reading them once and all the cards and card effects in past matches at Card Capital. She uses an Oracle Deck based on Greek & Japanese Mythology which also uses powerful card effects to give her an advantage over her opponents. Her strongest card is CEO Ameterasu.

Naoki Ishida is a main character of anime and manga of Cardfight!! Vanguard. Naoki Ishida is a student at Miyaji Academy. Naoki actually knew Aichi in elementary school before transfered to another school, but he never paid attention to him. He has his first match with a new Narukami Trial Deck provided to him by the Shop Manager.

A youngster with a big mouth and the skill to back it up. He's very enthusiastic and energetic about Vanguard and doesn't care who his opponent is so long as they are not weak in his eyes. He hates being looked down upon because of his size and age. He also has a crush on Aichi 's little sister, Emi , and constantly vies for her attention, even going as far as to refer to Aichi as his older brother. Kamui is almost always accompanied by two other kids; the one wearing glasses would make a comment, and the one with the topknot hair would abbreviate what was just said and end most of his sentences with "-ssu!" Kamui is the second person to defeat Aichi in a game of Vanguard. Kamui has commented that he likes to take the second turn at the beginning of a game as doing so gives him the first chance to attack. Kamui battles using a Nova Grappler Deck that is based on Machines, and his ace is Asura Kaiser. Strategies are usually just plain brute force while being supported with various card skills.

Better known as the "Assassin" of AL4, Asaka won her place by fighting her way up the ranks of Foo Fighter.
