About this title
Synopsis
Schwarzesmarken is a spin-off of the Muv-Luv Alternative series, that take place in 1983. The East German Army 666th TSF Squadron "Schwarzesmarken" (Black Marks) are a special-forces unit tasked with assaulting BETA forces through unconventional tactics; specifically, they target Lux and Magnus Lux to deny the BETA the advantage of ranged firepower. Their orders are given the topmost priority, such that it is common practice for the 666th to ignore allied distress calls that will result in deviation from their original mission, even if only for a short moment. The 666th Squadron mostly operates MiG-21s, with their squadron commander Irisdena Bernhard piloting an MiG-21PF. (Source: Muv-Luv Wikia, edited)

She is the CO of the 666th TSF Squadron and her call sign is Schwarzesmarken 01. A decorated war hero of the Poland retreat, no one doubts that her exemplary leadership and tactical skills are a few of the main reasons for the squadron's continued survival and success on the battlefield. She believes in leading by example, and will be among the first to go into the fray in a battle. Despite this, she is hated by some for having killed her own brother to ensure her own survival. A TSF pilot previously dispatched in Eastern Europe, she is assigned to the 666th TSF Squadron as reinforcement to make up for the injured Pham Thi Lan. She becomes under suspicion as a Stasi spy for her sudden appearance and assignment into Theodor's squadron.

A 2nd Lieutenant in the 666th TSF Squadron who specializes in close combat, his call sign is Schwarzesmarken 08. Adopted by the Hohensteins as a child, he was the apparent sole survivor of his family after they were captured by the Stasi while attempting to defect to West Germany. While captive, he was tortured, which sprouted his deep hatred towards the Stasi. For unknown reasons, Theodor was eventually released, who then decided to join the military. Despite being in a squadron, Theodor adopts a lone-wolf attitude and cares little for his teammates. He especially despises Irisdina who sold out her own brother to the Stasi.
