About this title
Synopsis
The 15th Hierarchical City of Torifune is best known as the Military Academy for the NOL. There, future librarians train and hone their skills for whatever challenges may await them outside. The story centers around Mai Natsume, a girl who had just arrived late due to a week absence, but there seems to be several phenomenons centering around her that could be more than just coincidence. She was made Jin's subordinate by the NOL, although Jin treated her poorly due to her resemblance of Saya. When Jin rushed off to hunt down Ragna without permission from the NOL, Noel was assigned to stop him and bring him back to his post at the Library. She is easily won over by small, cute animals (agreeing to be dressed up by Litchi if she could play with her panda, Lao Jiu, in one story path, and even shouts "Hands off the panda!" during battle with her) and has an inferiority complex with her bosom.

She's described as a straight A student, and has a rather no-nonsense personality. She's very serious and reserved, and is a member of the dignified Yayoi family. By the end of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger's True Ending, she is assigned by Hazama to kill Noel and Jin. She originally appeared as a non-playable character in the Calamity Trigger Story Mode. In BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Tsubaki heads to 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi to search for Jin Kisaragi and Noel Vermillion. She uses an Ars Armagus called "Izayoi". When Tsubaki found Jin, he told her to get rid of Izayoi because it "steals the light from the user's eyes", implying it would, after a certain period of time, cause her to go blind. Tsubaki is revealed to be a fan of Hakumen, going so far as to own all the books and movies based on the exploits of the Six Heroes.

She is a squirrel-type human-like, and is considerably hyperactive with a short attention span, though she has proven to be rather cunning when she needs to be. She is outgoing, adventurous, and has inhuman reflexes as well incredible strength, able to make an impact crater in Carl's story line and her Astral Heat involves her punching an opponent skyward, leaving an imprint of her fist in the moon before it splits apart. She has a few complexes about her race, but nonetheless, acknowledges who she is and is proud of it. In BlazBlue Continuum Shift, Makoto works for The NOL Intelligence Department with Hazama, but is actually a spy for Sector Seven. In the True Ending, she defects from the NOL after finding out what happened and leaves with Noel and Iron Tager.

She was a classmate and friend of Noel Vermillion, Tsubaki Yayoi, Makoto Nanaya and Kajun Faycott as well as the schoolmate of Jin Kisaragi and Carl Clover during their time at the Military Academy. Mai is kind and polite, however she possesses great inner strength and tries to help and protect those that she cares for. She has magenta eyes, long blue hair tied in a ponytail with a yellow ribbon and an athletic body with a large chest. Mai's true name is Mai Hazuki and is the heir of the Hazuki Family, one of the twelve noble families that govern the world. Shortly prior to the events of Remix Heart, a grimoire magically transformed Mai from a boy into a girl. She was not able to reverse the transformation and her father sent her away to the Torifune Military Academy under an alias. Mai is the vessel of the Nameless Grimoire, which grants its user the ability to read the memories or thoughts of people or obtain information about objects or their owners by tasting them. In the case of food she can percieve the thoughts of its cook, which is why she is not only able to "survive" Noel's infamous death cooking, but also calls it a godly dish because Noel's single-mindedness in cooking only leaves her innocence within the food. In addition, the Nameless Grimoire can enhance its vessel's physical abilities and allow her to regenerate her injuries. Mai prefers to fight with a long sword and a parrying dagger during Remix Heart, but obtains a powerful enchanted spear called Outseal that is a Legacy Weapon in Variable Heart. She was a classmate and friend of Noel Vermillion, Tsubaki Yayoi, Makoto Nanaya and Mai Natsume as well as a schoolmate of Jin Kisaragi and Carl Clover during their time at the Military Academy. Though she behaved like a normal student, in reality she was an undercover agent from Sector Seven that was sent by Kokonoe to search for and secure a powerful grimoire. Kajun acts like an eccentric but refined young lady, though she also likes to tease her friends. She is rather manipulative as she will encourage her friends to pursue actions that further her mission while concealing her true motive. Nonetheless she cares for them and will try to encourage and help them. For example she willingly ate Noel's death cooking with Mai and created an opportunity for Tsubaki to be together with Jin as she was aware of Tsubaki's feelings. Kajun is very intelligent and shows an extreme thirst of knowledge as she loves collecting data and analyzing events and people around her. The urge to know sometimes drives her into doing odd things, or making others do odd things for her; she even carries a small handbook around to take notes about whatever catches her attention. Kajun never displays any fighting capabilities, has relatively poor physical abilities and the power of her Ars Magus isn't exceptional, however she is very good at manipulating Ars Magus and shaping it to produce the effects she desires.
