Synopsis

The Guardian of the first Tier, the Vampire Princess, a Japanese Shinma. Miyu is all this with only Larva, her servant and companion, to help her. They are bound together with blood, and share a special bond. However Larva tried to kill her once, when he was a Western Shinma out to conquer the East. Now Western Shinma have come and they will bring forth a great evil, while Larva will be taken from Miyu. Will she be able to hold out in the end, defeat evil and rescue her Larva?

Shin Vampire Miyu was published in English as New Vampire Miyu by Studio Ironcat, first in comic book format, for a total of 34 issues running from September 1997 to June 2000, and collected into tankoubon volumes.

Miyu Yamano is a girl who appears to be 13 or 14 years old, but in fact, she is much older, being a vampire. Even though she is a vampire, Miyu isn't harmed by sunlight, holy water, or crucifixes, and her reflection can be seen. Though she does need to drink blood to survive, she chooses her "victims" carefully. She chooses people who have suffered a tragic loss, and offers them their greatest wish—to be with their lost loved ones, at least in their dreams—in exchange for their blood. These people live an endless dream state forever.

Shinma from the western world. Larva faced Miyu after she had become the Guardian. After he had struck her down, she drank his blood. He pledged to be by Miyu's side. Larva can use his nails to slash things and he can also wield a scythe. Larva chooses to stay with Miyu because of her sorrow, something he was able to glimpse at during both blood-bond scenes.
