Synopsis

Not so long ago, mysterious structures called Dungeons began appearing all over the world. No one knows what they are or how they came to be, but adventurers and armies around the world instantly took interest in them. Thousands set out to explore the Dungeons, but so far, not a single person has returned. In a Parthevian port, a young boy is about to make a name for himself. Sinbad is good-natured, strong, and craving adventure. A kind deed leads to his meeting with Yunan, an enigmatic traveler who is far more powerful than his frivolous personality lets on. Yunan instructs Sinbad to attain the "power of the king" and change the world—by conquering a Dungeon. The eager boy readily accepts, setting out on the grand adventure he so craved. Taking place 15 years before the events of the original series, Magi: Sinbad no Bouken chronicles Sinbad's youth as a Dungeon conqueror. He can be quite a flirt and is not above using his charm to get what he wants. He tends to remove his clothes when asleep. Despite all this, he can be serious when the need arises and is a great and honorable king who is respected and admired by everyone, especially his subjects (whom he seems to consider a sort of extended family). Sinbad is one of the most powerful characters in the entire series. He is extremely skilled in swordplay as well as Magoi Manipulation, and has decent martial arts skills as well. His loyalty towards Sinbad is so high that he'll approach anyone who insults him with murderous intent. When Sinbad does things as he pleases, Ja'far worries endlessly and sometimes even feels faint. Ja'far usually only wears official clothing as he only has one set of normal clothing he received from Sinbad when he was 14 years old. His name is based from the "Harun al-Rashid's" persian vizier "Ja'far ibn Yahya" also known as "Ja'far al-Barmaki" which is one of the real people (not a fictional character) in "One Thousand and One Nights" stories. He appears in many stories in "One Thousand and One Nights" series.
