About this title

Synopsis

Berry Shirayuki is a cheerful and optimistic 12-year-old girl who has just been accepted into a private girl's school after studying hard for her exams. Aside from friendly but unwanted comments from her next-door neighbor Tasuku Meguro, it seems as if nothing can go wrong for this newly-made middle schooler! After the first day of school ends, Berry is saved from tripping over stairs by a blonde-haired boy, and ends up following him to Café Mew Mew in hopes of thanking him. While in the cafe, Berry accidentally stumbles upon a shining statue that projects visions of a cat and rabbit—who enter her body just before she metamorphosizes into a white-costumed magical girl with bunny ears and a cat tail! Following a series of strange incidents which lead her to discover amazing hearing and jumping skills (as well as a craving for carrots), Berry realizes that she has become a new member of Tokyo Mew Mew—a group of magical girl superheroes with both animal-like and supernatural abilities! Berry needs to take her new responsibility as a protector of the peace seriously, because she is now a target for Tokyo Mew Mew's new enemy... and they are on the hunt for some fresh rabbit. [Written by MAL Rewrite] Included one-shot: Volume 2: Usagi no Furasu Hoshi

Age: 13-14 Birthday: March 15 (Pisces) Height: 159 cm Ichigo was just a normal 13-year-old junior high student who was on a date with Aoyama Masaya until her DNA is mysteriously merged with the DNA of an Iriomote Wildcat. Now she is the "leader" of a group of girls, whose DNA were also merged with that of an endangered species, called Tokyo Mew Mew. The Mew Mews have to save the world from Chimera Animas, the aliens, and the alien leader, Deep Blue. Originally, Ichigo wants nothing to do with the "Mew Project", instead wishing to simply spend time with her crush, Masaya. Later, she grudgingly accepts her fate, realizing what she is (a Mew) and the importance of the task assigned to her. Ichigo has some aspects of the typical magical girl heroine personality: sweet and caring, shy around her love interest, prone to overlooking things the more perceptive and more intelligent can see, and is overactive when she is mad or excited. Ichigo reacts very angrily whenever a loved one is hurt, and dislikes being treated like an object, hence her reaction to Kishu. Ichigo tends to go dreamy and blushes when in the presence of her crush, Masaya, typically head over heels, and she occasionally becomes confused with her feelings, and is prone to act rashly. Many times, she puts her own relationship before saving the world. Overall, she is a friendly person who's willing to give second chances to the people she likes. She is injected with the DNA of an Iriomote Wildcat. Later she finds herself acting like, instead of a wildcat, an ordinary housecat and, remembering the dream sequence of a cat jumping into her body when she was injected, realizes something has happened to her. Transformation: Mew Mew Strawberry, Metamorphosis! Attack: Ribbon Strawberry Check! (Eps. 1-14); Ribbon Strawberry Surprise! (Eps. 15-52); Ribbon Aqua Drops! (Eps. 25 & 43 only) In the English dub, Mew Mew Power, Ichigo's name was changed to Zoey Hanson, and in the Italian dub, Ichigo's name was changed to Strawberry Momomiya.

Birthday: September 6 (Virgo) Age: 15 Blood type: O Height: 172 cm Weight: 56 kg Zakuro Fujiwara is the last of the main Mew Mews introduced. As with the others, she first appears at the start of the series, helping rescue Lettuce from bullies at the endangered animal exhibit. She reappears at end of the second volume, when Mint finds a picture of her in a magazine and recognizes her from the museum. When the Mew Mews first meet Zakuro, she seems friendly, but after discovering who they are, she coldly brushes them off. Kish decides to target Zakuro, because she is separated from the others. The Mew Mews come to her aid, and after the battle, Zakuro decides she will make an exception for them and become a part of the team. Infused with the DNA of a Gray Wolf, Zakuro has a wolf tail and ears while in her Mew Mew form, and fights with a whip. Zakuro is presented as a mature character, who works as a professional model. As her biggest fan Mint effuses, Zakuro has "long, glossy, raven hair" with "dark, intelligent, yet sensitive eyes" and "long, strong and thin legs". During an audition, she is shown being helpful to the new models – the other Mew Mews working undercover – and its stated that she is well-traveled with the ability to speak five languages. In the anime adaptation, Zakuro's background is more developed, and she is shown to be estranged from her family, having left home two years before. She is depicted as being a Christian, wearing a cross and attending a Christian church. Junko Noda provides her voice in the anime. In the Mew Mew Power English adaptation, her name is changed to Renée Roberts and the references to her Christian faith are edited out of the series. Her voice in the English dub is supplied by Mollie Weaver. (Source: Wikipedia)

Birthday: October 3 (Libra) Age: 12 Height: 155 cm Weight: 41 kg Blood type: B Mint is a rich girl who was used to the lifestyle until she became infused with the DNA of a Blue Lorikeet. At first she was shocked and had no idea what to do. Ichigo guides her along. But quickly accepts her being a Mew Mew and realizes the tasks she needs to do. Mint's introduction in episode 2 ("A new comrade – Justice lies in a real lady ~Nya!") is a little different from her manga introduction. Ichigo never meets her and her other comrades until this episode. Mint gives her a handkerchief after her dog, Mickey, licks Ichigo's face, and Ichigo later follows her to her house when Masha detects something strange; she was going to look for a Chimera Anima, not to find out if Mint is the second Mew Mew. Also, Ryou never tells Ichigo that Mint is her comrade - it only becomes apparent when her Mew Mark is revealed before the battle when her dress was ripped in the back. Mint can be mean, lazy, snobbish, and at times, very sarcastic. One of the only people Mint is nice to is Fujiwara Zakuro, she admires Zakuro very much almost to the point of being obsessed with her. Her favorite thing in the world is her pet dog Mickey, whom she really cares for. Mint enjoys having her afternoon tea and rarely helps out at the cafe. Although Mint is a snob to Ichigo, empathetic, a nice person and cares about her friends. Her feelings are very important to her and can easily be hurt. She is often seen drinking tea at work, calling it her "daily ritual", instead of helping others. Mint's family is rich and lives in a mansion. Her mother and father are almost never home, and her grandmother has to look after her. She has a brother named Aizawa Seiji who appeared in episode 9, and not in the manga. He is older, and more serious then Mint. He doesn't spend much time with her, because he has to deal with some important and difficult things, like business. Because of this, he once called Mint "lucky", because she only does ballet. The Mews met him in the episode, but he didn't pay much attention, due to him being busy. When Mint was to perform ballet, she wanted Seiji to come, but he was busy again and couldn't attend, even the Mews tried to persuade him. When he finally came, however, Mint told him to get back to work, making him angry. As Seiji was leaving, a Chimera Anima attacked them. Mint scolded the monster for hurting her brother, who tried to protect her. After she and Mew Ichigo defeated the Chimera Anima, Seiji gave his sister some flowers to show he still cares for her. Transformation: Mew Mew Mint, Metamorphosis! Attack: Ribbon Mint Echo! In the English dub Mew Mew Power, Mint's name was changed to Corina Bucksworth, and in the Italian dub, Mint's name was changed to Mina Aizawa. Mint is the second of the five Mews to appear in the series.

Name Meaning: "Green River" (Midorikawa) English Name: Bridget Verdant Age: 13 Birthday: April 29 (Taurus) Blood type: A Height: 165 cm Weight: 49 kg School: Okumura Daifuzoku Junior High School School Grade: Eighth (Second year junior high school student, by Japanese school standards) Affiliations: The Mew Project, Tokyo Mew Mew, and Café Mew Mew In the anime, Lettuce has a younger brother named Uri. She also made dolls as a pastime. Her parents, Yomogi and Eizaburou Midorikawa, always encouraged her to be herself, and someday, she will have real friends. Lettuce still had her so-called 'friends' from school, called "The Three Beckies" in the English dub, though she still hasn't told them she is a Mew Mew. Lettuce has light skin and dark green hair with two long braids at the back. She has blue eyes and thin glasses. Lettuce wears a dress and an apron like the other Mew Mews, but hers is green. Mew Mew Lettuce's hair turns a lighter green and she doesn't wear glasses. She wears a green body suit, with green garters on her arm and left leg. She has a green choker that her Mew Pendant dangles from. She has white lace lining on her chocker and garters. She has long white antennas on her head that reach her feet. Lettuce's Mew Mark is on her chest, with two curves that resemble a fish. Lettuce is a sweet but shy and timid girl, who is also clumsy and ditsy. She is very polite and always speaks formally, even to her friends and family, who she speaks to all the time. Lettuce's family is very positive and they told her that she would be able to make friends when she thought she couldn't. Lettuce becomes more confident when she joins the mew mews and leaves the three girls that bully her (though in Mew Mew Power she still talks to them). Lettuce does not like to get involved in fights unless it will prevent her friends from being harmed. She is a shy, thirteen-year-old girl eight-grader (second year junior high student, by Japanese school standards) who attends Okumura Daifuzoku Junior High (Excaliber High School in the English anime adaptation) and works at Café Mew Mew. Lettuce's favorite foods are shortcakes, grapes and stewed foods, while her least favorite foods are shiitake mushrooms. Lettuce's D.N.A is infused with the D.N.A of the Finless Porpoise, a cousin of the dolphin, so Lettuce's legs can transform into a porpoise's tail when she is underwater (if she is in possession of Mew Aqua), greatly approving her ability to swim. She is the third girl to join the mew mews and, at first, is afraid to use her powers, but this changes because of Ichigo Momomiya and Mint Aizawa's encouragement. (Source: Tokyo Mew Mew Wikia)

Birthday: 5th January Berry Shirayuki is introduced in Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode as the series' main protagonist. In a la Mode, the Mew Mews' leader, Ichigo, has gone to study abroad in England with her boyfriend Masaya. The twelve year old girl becomes the sixth Mew Mew and temporarily takes Ichigo's place by becoming the new leader of the group. Berry is a newcomer to the area, and takes a daily, hour long, subway ride to the city where she attends a private middle school.[48] Berry becomes the first Mew Mew to be infused with the DNA of two endangered species, the Andean Mountain Cat and the Amami Rabbit, after she follows Ryou Shirogane to the Cafe Mew Mew to thank him for saving her from a bad fall, accidentally enters the Mew Mew's headquarters, and runs through an experimental new machine for infusing DNA into girls. Berry quickly adapts to her new role as a Mew Mew. Like Ichigo, she is given a robot companion, the R3000, whom she renames Ucha. Ucha not only provides her guidance in fighting, but also transforms into the wand she uses to perform attacks. As the "second strongest" Mew Mew, Berry becomes the primary target of the series antagonists, the Saint Rose Crusaders. Throughout a la Mode the secondary story line follows the growing romance between Berry and her childhood friend Tasuku. Tasuku sneaks into Berry's room every morning to hug her, a practice that started after Berry's mother passed away and could no longer perform the daily ritual. As the series progresses, Berry come to realize that she has slowly fallen in love with Tasuku. This revelation leaves her confused at first. No voice actors have been added to this character.
