About this title

Synopsis

Pureblood vampire Kaname Kuran has been asleep in an icy coffin for one thousand years. When he is awakened by two unfamiliar vampires, he discovers that he is now human and that he has come back to life without any memories. The vampires, Ai and Ren, begin to tell him stories of everything that he missed in the past millennium—revealing the fates of those once dear to him, such as Yuuki Cross, and others he knew, such as Zero Kiryuu. Vampire Knight: Memories is a series of non-linear stories showing what events occurred during Kaname's slumber, as well as imparting truth about the nature of the relationship between Kaname, Ai, and Ren. Kaname is the class president of the Night Class, much feared and respected by the other Night Class students. While he is cold and authoritative towards his fellow students in the Night Class, he is always kind and sweet to Yuuki. He has shown that he cares deeply for Yuuki ever since he saved her, and loves her in a romantic sense. As a Pureblood, Kaname is capable of controlling lesser vampires, but he chooses not to exercise his powers, thus earning the respect of the Noble vampires. He shares the Chairman's hopes for peace between vampires and humans. He worked with the Chairman to create the Night Class at Cross Academy and with his presence, allows the Night Class to be kept in check.

Age: 15–16 years old Height: 152cm The adoptive daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, Yuuki is a member of the school's disciplinary committee (public morals committee in Japanese), which is the 'front' for the Guardians. Ten years prior to the events of "Vampire Knight," Yuuki was attacked by a vampire, but was rescued by Kaname. She has lost all memory of her life before the attack, and Headmaster Cross took her in as his own daughter. Yuuki loves Kaname, and even though she has witnessed his vampiric nature when he bit Ruka, she still couldn't stop loving him. However, she has also started to let Zero, a childhood friend, drink her blood, hoping to save him from madness. Yuuki is cheerful and easygoing, and thanks to her work as a Guardian she is good at keeping her cool in sticky situations. There have been hints that she is special, given that vampires are especially drawn to her blood. Her weapon of choice is the "Artemis Rod," an extensible staff she received from Headmaster Cross.
