About this title
Synopsis
His whole life, Koremitsu Akagi has been labeled a delinquent by his classmates owing to his angry expression, bright red hair, and violent tendencies. These rumors continue on in high school, isolating him once more. Even so, the school's famed playboy, Hikaru Mikado, kindly greets Koremitsu and even insists that they talk again. Unfortunately, this remains the only interaction the two boys would ever have before Hikaru's untimely death. After reluctantly attending Hikaru's funeral, Koremitsu finds the ghost of Hikaru following him. Realizing that Koremitsu alone can see him, Hikaru decides to enlist his help. In order for his soul to pass on, Hikaru must fulfill his promise to his fiancée, Aoi Saotome. Although Aoi seems to be carrying unresolved resentment toward Hikaru, Koremitsu agrees to help his ghost companion with his last wish. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Main characters
Koremitsu Akagi27 fan favoritesExternal profileThe first male protagonist of the series. He is based on Koremitsu, Genji's assistant, from "Tale of Genji." Because he's the only one who can see Hikaru's ghost, Koremitsu decides to help Hikaru out in fulfilling his promises. Although felt Hikaru is annoying at some time, he shows a deep sympathy toward Hikaru and wish to become his "only male friend." His intimidating looks and red hair often leads others to assume he's a delinquent, despite of his truly kind personality. As a result, Koremitsu almost never made any friends in school. He also holds a scornful attitude toward women, thanks to something that happened to him in the past. He knew nothing about how to interact with women so he would usually follow Hikaru's advice which sometimes failed miserably because of his intimidating nature. He would occasionally try to act with his instinct and can be very effective toward his opponents. He lives with his grandfather and aunt, who are both very stubborn and being bias to the opposite gender. Koremitsu is also very skilled in Japanese Calligraphy thanks to the teaching of his grandfather. This skill serves some important purposes in later chapters. He is voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama in the Drama CD adaptation. No voice actors have been added to this character. Hikaru Mikado6 fan favoritesExternal profileHe is modeled from Hikaru Genji, the main protagonist of "Tale of Genji." Another male protagonist of the series. By the beginning of the series, Hikaru is already deceased, though he comes back as a ghost that haunts Koremitsu. The whole story is built on his request on Koremitsu to fulfill his many promises made to various girls before he was deceased. Hikaru's effeminate looks, romantic behavior, and kindness attract the affection of many girls, but make him hated by the boys at the same time. He likes to use flowers as metaphors to describe the appearances and personalities of people. His death is shrouded in mystery, causing a lot of speculation over who actually killed him. Hikaru is voiced by Yuki Kaiji in the Drama CD adaptation. No voice actors have been added to this character. Aoi Saotome2 fan favoritesExternal profileShe is Hikaru's Fiancee, his childhood friend, and a shy, innocent girl. She is a typical "ojousama" who rarely steps out of her comfort zone. She felt jealousy and anxiety for the fact that so many girls are around Hikaru, and the negative moods were amplified after Hikaru's death, causing her to seal her heart and became very emotional. It is the combination efforts of Koremitsu and Hikaru that her icy heart is melted. After that she gains trust for Koremitsu, and is more opened to other people. She is the first girl who Hikaru asked Koremitsu to help fulfilled his promise with. She is the main heroine of volume 1 of the novel, and she also makes many reappearances in later volumes which involve the affairs of the Mikado family. Her model character in "Tale of Genji" is Aoi no Ue. In the drama CD adaptation, she is voiced by Satomi Satou. No voice actors have been added to this character.
