Synopsis

Ishiyama High—land of the delinquents. No matter how tough you think you are, you don't mess with an Ishi-high student. One of the most infamous students is first year Tatsumi Oga, called "Demon King" by those he's defeated. One day, while Oga is finishing off a gang that attacked him, he stumbles upon an infant. In a rare moment of kindness, Oga tries to care for the baby. As a result, the child becomes overly attached to him. In a panic, he brings the baby to his best friend Takayuki Furuichi's house. While there, they are attacked by Hildegard, a demon maid who says the baby is actually Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV. She also reveals that he was sent here to destroy humanity, on a whim of his father Beelzebub III, Great Demon Lord of the Demon World. After failing to remove Baby Beel from Oga, she declares that he must raise him, as moving more than 15 meters away will result in instant death for Oga. With his delinquent past and unfriendly nature, Oga must deal with the burden of raising a demon baby. Beezelbub follows his story through encounters with demons and dangerous classmates, all while being an unorthodox role model and carer for the young Baby Beel. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

He was picked to become Beelzebub's parent as he possessed the qualities of the ideal parent for the future Demon Lord: strong, arrogant, and thinks-nothing-of-fellow-man. In addition to the aforementioned attributes, Oga also seems to take pleasure in tormenting others.As the series continues, it should be noted that the trials Oga has faced and the new friends he has gained has altered his personality somewhat. For example, when the Rokkisei called out Ishiyama to meet them on the rooftop, he initially came alone. The son of the Devil King. He is very attached to Oga, clinging with a vice-like grip to Oga's back. When he is agitated or sees blood, he will spontaneously electrocute anyone within his vicinity. Beelzebub's characteristic cry is "Daabuu!" and he is always naked with a pacifier in his mouth. Baby Be'el is very easily impressed, especially by strong people since he himself is still weak and loses to other babies as well as to cats. On the other hand he is not the smartest one out there and tries to force his way through the most simple problems. It is also shown that he is afraid of insects. He often displays a fondness for things that might frighten "normal" babies, such as violence, exposed muscle tissue (on an anatomy model), heavy metal music, and demonic toys.

Her clothes are mostly elegant and black with frills and white quillings, thus resembling Lolita Fashion. She is seen wearing other outfits on a few occasions. One occasion being right after she wakes up, where she was wearing a modest pink night gown with her hair down. When she infiltrates Oga's current school she dresses in the Saint Ishiyama High uniform, though she complains that the shirt is "a little tight." Hilda commonly displays a cold and impassive demeanor, a character trait that she breaks only on rare occasions. (excluding her interactions with Be'el). Toward Be'el she is very affectionate and protective, acting as the role of the mother and preforming the task a mother would such as cooking for and washing Be'el. She often knows more about the current situation than any of the other protagonists and is easily able to manipulate the others into doing what she sees best. Hilda also has a fondness for extremely spicy foods, such as super spicy habenero buns.

Furuichi is Oga's best friend and along with him is a 1st year at Ishiyama High. After finding out about Oga's baby he joins him up in his search for a new parent. He is actually the most normal person in the anime/manga because he tries to add common sense to everything. He also has no powers. Although Furuichi does retain a rational, passive and calm demeanor, he usually reacts in an insane (but often comical) fashion whenever a character does something outrageous. This usually comes as a surprise to the others around him. He also has an overly wild imagination when it comes to women, always fantisizing about them in a overly perverted manner which earned him his common nickname among the female characters "Creepichi". Despite his desire to hit it off with the ladies, he often fails to please them or get their attention because most of them, demon or human, are stronger than him and many moments of comic relief in the series arise when his advances on girls are foiled, particularly by Alaindelon. His attitude changes when women are involved in a situation. Out of sheer instinct, Furuichi acts "cool" in order to impress the woman involved. He is shown to gain some bravery from it, but this often gets him into bigger trouble than he already is in. Furuichi is the first one to try to think of how to avoid a problem, rather than trying to use force (which he lacks). Due to this as well as his close association with the delinquets despite not having a rough personality at all himself, many mistakenly consider him a "strategist" or "ring leader" for the delinquents.
