About this title

Synopsis

Private Detective Hiroshi Inaba is an artificially-created being, formed by splicing the genes of both a human and a wolf, who gains information by tasting and examining people's hair, and pretty much has a hair fetish. He can transform into a more wolf-like form, and also gain special powers and perform different attacks depending on the type or color of hair he eats. Formerly employed by the police and partnered with an officer, he now runs his own private detective agency with the help of his sadistic, cross-dressing secretary Yuuta (often mistaken for a girl), and Kei (a "relatively" normal teenager working part-time at the office. Ogino, the officer formerly partnered with Hiroshi, also often helps out with cases. His arch-enemy is Don Valentino, an evil mastermind goat with a taste (literally) for money, and a variety of messed up but extremely devoted henchman, including gentleman samurai Laurence, who always wears a bag over his head. Most chapters are individual stories revolving around Hiroshi and his friends trying to arrest the Don, always failing miserably.

He still continues to help him in cases, ones that involve the Valentino Family. It is stated and shown throughout the series that he has a brother complex towards his younger brother. Being a goat, Don Valentino eats money for the delectable taste of it, and then spits it out as counterfeit bills that are nearly identical to the original (apart from his face being added). Previously active as a mafia boss in Italy, Don Valentino found the taste of the Euro too plain after the currency was switched from the Lira, and moved his activities to Japan (it seems yen banknotes taste the best).

Yuuta pretends to be the stereotypical cute anime girl. However to everyone that he dislikes or views as an enemy, for time with Hiroshi, he shows his sadistic side. This is especially true as he wants to kill Kuniharu Ogino, Hiroshi's past partner. This is due to Yuuta jealousy of Ogino and Hiroshi's relationship of mutual trust. He is only affectionate and shows protectiveness over Hiroshi but Hiroshi does not realize this or may just be choosing to ignore it, as Hiroshi treats Yūta as his little sister. He later shows protectiveness over Noah. Yuuta and Noah instantly bonded over their similar personalities and mutual desire to kill Ogino. Despite technically being enemies,Yuuta and Noah remain to be enthusiastic in each other's company and are shown to text frequently. Yuuta is proficient in martial arts. It is mention that he was very poor growing up, once resided in a small wooden house with both his parents. Even with Hiroshi paying him 900¥ per-hour, he is still plagued by money problems. He is a cat lover, even though he is allergic to them, and owns a Sphinx cat (which, because it is hairless, does not trigger his allergies). Kei is also able to release incredible willpower, although only given decent motivation. Examples of this would be expelling the "Black Fang" from his body due to his addiction to cats and the ability to exponentially improve his table tennis skills when angered by the Don's foolishness. He is usually the one who is caught up with Yuuta's plots to kill Kuniharu Ogino and even Haruka Inaba for getting to close to Hiroshi.
