Synopsis

Yoshitomi Akihito revisits the Eat-Man universe 11 years after its last publication. This time a vast amount of time have passed since the previous installment, and the civilizations he visited in the prequel have since long turned into dust, and Crank Bolt is the only surviving link to that distant past, in a post-apocalyptic desert full of mysteries.

Bolt Crank is the protagonist of "Eat-Man" manga and anime series. Bolt has also made guest appearances in other works by Akihito Yoshitomi, "Ray" and "24-ku no Hanako-san". He is the best "explorer" in the world. In the manga, "explorers" are a kind of mercenary, and although mercenaries do any job, even assassinations, the explorers were employees with principles. Bolt's past remained a mystery in all the series, some stories gave clues about his past, including some characters that appeared in various episodes. In the end of the manga series revealed a lot about who and what Bolt is, but his exact identity still remains a mystery. Bolt has a bizarre power, the ability to eat anything inorganic and then later recreate it (even fixing the item ingested) from any part of his body. The item usually comes out from his arms and hands, but sometimes can be created in other body areas, like his head, chest, or legs. In the manga, it was implied that inside Bolt's body was actually a void of space. Objects that he's consumed float around in a seemingly endless space. Bolt also never ages, and the end of the manga series revealed that he is biologically immortal (he does not age but can be hurt and/or killed). A man of few words, Bolt doesn't show his feelings and always keeps a cool head. However, his cynical personality and his "always get the job done" attitude can make him seem like a very cold and dark character but, in the end, he always finds a way to do the right thing. He never appears to look back on the past or regret it in any way. Bolt says he has a very strict diet, unlike any human, and is only known to consume metals and gasoline, but sometimes he also likes to drink wine. His favorite "foods" are screws, nuts, gasoline and gunpowder.

A trap set and created by the mysterious Leon Field, Telomere (or Teromea) is a mechanical parasite that Bolt was tricked into eating. He possesses similar powers to Bolt, being able to eat and re-create objects. He can also freely move in and out of Bolt's body, and communicate with him whether he is inside of him or not. Despite being a nuisance and enemy of Bolt, he has a stake in Bolt's survival since he resides inside of him, thus he will help Bolt out. Even if the head that pops out is destroyed, he can reform himself inside Bolt's body. Telomere is foul-mouthed, doesn't respect anyone and loves to drink alcohol.
