About this title

Synopsis

Based on RPG game by the same title. The game takes place in the Erebonian Empire within the same time frame as Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki. The game's plot is centered around the newly formed special class "Class VII" in Thors Military Academy, composed of both aristocrats and common Erebonian citizens. Class VII is the only class in the entire academy that does not segregate the two different social classes. The game follows Class VII throughout their school year, mainly around the times when Class VII receive special field training that takes them all over Erebonia. Throughout their training across Erebonia, Class VII matures and casts aside their preconceptions of the two social classes as well witness first hand the reality of empire; the power struggle between the aristocracy led by the four noble houses, and the working class reformists led by Iron Blood Chancellor of Erebonia, Giliath Osborne which threatens to lead to a civil war. He also wears a black zipped shirt over a white buttoned shirt, black trousers and a red suspender belt for carrying his tachi. Rean uses a tachi in battle. It is kept in a sheath which transitions from purple at one end to dark blue and a metal clasp at the other. The blade itself is single edged, with a decorated purple and gold woven handle and two tassels hanging from the end. There is a ring-like attachment on the side of the guard. Kind, sociable, easygoing and modest to a fault, Rean is about as upright as they come. He is incredibly supportive, often helping people (friends or otherwise) with their various problems, sometimes going through extreme lengths to fulfill requests. He is a natural-born leader, often taking the initiative when the group faces a problem, relying on his good instincts and deductive reasoning skills to get through them. However, despite putting on a confident front, Rean has a shockingly low amount of self-worth, often being harsh to himself and trying to spread credit to others mainly due to the fact he was adoptive and how other noble mistreat his adoptive father over it and how he end up lost control of himself due to his unknown power when he and Elise were younger. He is also unable to reconcile the love that his family has for him, often considering himself to be a burden, striving to one day "pay back his parents" for caring for them, unable to realize that his parents unconditionally love him. Fie is armed with twin gunswords, short pistol-like weapons that double as both blades and firearms. They are capable of rapid firing and being thrown like chakrams. An inscription on the base of the handles read: “Sylpheed Look at the invisible Hear what you can't hear The truth is ahead” Fie is a quiet girl who doesn't take a strong interest in many things. She doesn't focus much on studying, and tends to slack off by sleeping anywhere around the school. Nevertheless, as she was raised as a jaeger, Fie is more focused and serious on the battlefield. Crow Armbrust was a Thors Academy sophomore, and a mentor to Rean Schwarzer after the school orientation. As the story progresses, Crow was assigned to class VII to acquire school credits due to his slacker attitude. As the uniform's representative color, Crow Armbrust comes from the commoners. Despite being a slacker, he remains on friendly terms with his fellow classmates; Student Council President Towa Herschel, Angelica Rogner and Georges Nome. A habitual class ditcher who was in danger of being a repeater, he was temporarily brought in to Class VII as a way to rack up school credits. While not particularly serious-minded as a person, Rean and the other members nevertheless accepted him as one of their own. Although while she appears quiet and reserved she has the tendency to express what she is thinking which made her rather simple and naive at times especially when she tried to keep it secret about her family. Alisa can be very stubborn, particularly in regards to the incident where Rean's face was pressed toward her chest when they fell under trap door during Class VII's orienteering exercise. Despite knowing it was an accident, Alisa, not wanting it to be brought up, slaps Rean when he apologizes and acts harshly towards him as a result despite wanting to apologize. She is willing to let go of this stubbornness before she and Rean work together on their first field trip. Alisa also gets easily flustered by unexpected events, and gets noticeably upset when asked to room with boys, or when members of her family show up unexpectedly. Despite all this, Alisa tries her best to make her friends happy, and even if she denies it initially, cares deeply for all of them. As someone who gets to the point, she leaves a brash impression on those meeting her the first time. She is actually a good-natured and kind woman on the inside, one who cannot overlook those in trouble. Alisa is the only daughter of the Reinford family, owners of the Reinford Group. During the Nord Highlands field study, Alisa states that she was treated poorly by other kids, due to her status as heiress of the Reinford Group. She is single-mindedly determined to do everything in her power to become stronger. She views every new challenge and encounter as an opportunity for her to learn and become a better swordsman. She has a hard time accepting those she believes are not truly dedicated or trying hard enough. She values friends such as Rean, a fellow student of the sword, for the opportunity to grow as swordsmen together, and respects anyone who shows great strength. Laura has a strong sense of duty as a noble, and a strong belief in the path of righteousness. She is often described by her classmates as like a "knight in shining armor". She can be a bit rigid in her beliefs, leading her to conflict with those who do not share her same ideals, such as Fie, who she has a hard time accepting due to her perception of Fie's past as immoral. However, she also shows an ability to move beyond her own prejudices, and has expressed shame in her own narrow-mindedness. Due to her determination to become as strong as possible, and her upbringing as a noble, she can sometimes come across as overly formal and intimidating. However, this is not her intention, and she shows a willingness to teach and become friends with those weaker than her, such as Monica. Laura was raised as the daughter of Victor S. Arseid, Viscount of Legram. She was taught in the Arseid school of swordsmanship, becoming proficient with a greatsword. On her travels during the October War, Emma wore a black and purple corset with detached black sleeves, long tails which acted like a dress, with a white skirt, brown laced-up boots and a short white shawl around her shoulders. Later on, Emma wears a purple sleeveless coat with long tails over a pinstripe white sweater and black lace vest, with a green miniskirt and black tights. She also has white knee high boots, several golden bangles, a flat cap. Emma later removes the cap and glasses. Emma uses an orbal staff in combat, consisting of a large silver rod with a golden moon type attachment at the top with a round orbment installed. At one point, she uses the elder's staff, which glows purple when in her possession. Emma is a very compassionate person. She carries herself in a quiet, yet polite and courteous demeanor, which makes her very well liked among the other students. She generally follows her tasks without much question and rarely, if ever, disregards them. Despite this, she is equally pragmatic as well as secretive. Emma remains modest in most of her interactions with her classmates. Later on, she later wears the standard Class VII crimson uniform of Thors Military Academy, with a teal tartan pleated skirt, black beanie and lilac cravat. Millium has also attached several badges and stickers across her uniform. During the October War, she switches to her wartime clothes styled as a sailor uniform with a beret. She wears a long-sleeved monochrome shirt with a belt around her chest styled like a ribbon, with a thin black shirt and brown shorts on the inside, as well as dark turquoise patterned stockings in white boots. Later on, Millium travels around in her new white and dark blue intelligence uniform with a new beret. The back and underarms of her new outfit are exposed, and she wears black-striped stockings with white boots. Millium is a cheerful little girl that is usually a ball of boundless energy wherever she goes. She is a bit ditzy and can have no common sense regarding how to act for her age, on multiple occasions summoning "Lammy" in public, but gets better over time. Millium loves Claire, who treats her like a younger sister, and considers the Ironbloods more or less like family. This can be said about her relations to Class VII as well, most notably Jusis, whom she forms a special bond with during her time at the academy and well after graduation. During his time at the Academy, Machias maintains a formal appearance with his standard-issue Class VII uniform. His red jacket is buttoned up at all times while wearing a black undershirt and black trousers. He also wears a belgrade blue tie, an ammunition pouch on his belt and duck blue loafers. Machias's outfit during the October War is very similar in style to the Thors uniform, consisting of a light blue jacket in place of his red Class VII jacket. On his new jacket is a red Thors Military Academy armband on his right sleeve. He wears a pinstripe turtle neck but otherwise his outfit remains unchanged. After graduation, and subsequent employment in the Inspectorate, Machias wears their uniform consisting of a smart jacket with a black and white section on the front. It has a wooden stock and pump, and features inlaid white engravings. A hard worker and prodigy student, Machias is an overachiever who holds himself to strict standards, and expects much of the same from his classmates. He regrets losing the top score on the Thors Military Academy entrance exam to Emma Millstein, which further fuels his drive to succeed and leads to a friendly rivalry with her. A well-known trait about Machias is his critical hostility towards the nobles and aristocrats for their unchanging traditions due to his family past. As such, he wouldn't hesitate to loudly open up his opinion with a negative manner towards the other noble students. Because of this, he directs most of his negativity towards other nobles, especially Jusis Albarea, his own classmate. Despite his behavior against nobility, he eventually develops an understanding that not all nobles are arrogant, and that inner character matters. As the series progresses and during his time in Class VII, he grows very close to his other noble classmates: Rean, Laura, and even Jusis. He eventually comes to the humble realization that he can trust them regardless of their social class or upbringing. Machias is very studious, and is a person who takes his studies very seriously. Even during the Erebonian Civil War, he carries on with his studies as if there were no interruptions, fearing that he may fall behind otherwise. Similarly to his father, Machias enjoys coffee after a hectic day. Machias is often quick to anger, frequently getting into verbal confrontations with certain classmates over political, academic, and social issues. Although shy and timid, Elliot is capable of mustering an enormous amount of courage in the face of incredible adversity, as he stood by classmates on numerous occasions, against enemies such as the Imperial Liberation Front. His soft personality and looks form a striking contrast to his bold father. He is a firm believer in the power of music and the healing power it brings. His sleeves are kept rolled and wears sandals instead of shoes because of his homeland culture. He also has his own loose ankled trousers and wears a lavender sash around his waist. Gaius's civil war outfit consists of a lined pattern long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves folded. Overtop is a dark crimson belted vest where his black trousers are overlaid with chaps chained to his belt. He switched his sandals for normal shoes After Gaius's long absence, he sports a more traditional fashion of a nomadic soldier. Replacing his crimson vest is a long dark crimson overcoat with white pants, boots and open-fingered gloves, with the style resembling that of his new occupation. Gaius is a friendly yet level-headed individual, able to discern the true nature of things without prejudice. He is grateful to the wind and Aidios for the people he has been able to meet and the experiences that have come across his path. His personality is without any sense of discrimination, leading him to be heavily relied on by the members of Class VII. Within the group, he frequently acts as the voice of reason. He is a very devout follower of the Septian Church and Aidios as a result of his mentor's, Barkhorn, influence. Gaius was born in the Nomadic Settlement in Nord in S.1187, to Lacan and Fatma Worzel. As their firstborn, he is the older brother to Thoma, Sheeda, and Lily. Raised in the Nord Highlands, Gaius came from a part of the Empire isolated from the commoner/noble dichotomy, granting him a unique perspective on the class system that divided his class and the rest of his country. A level-headed and respectful ally, Gaius fought alongside Class VII to protect Erebonia from many threats during his time as a student. Gaius learnt about the world outside Nord and the geopolitical situation of his hometown through monthly Sunday School lessons held by Barkhorn.
