Synopsis
Coud is a young sky pirate who discovered a girl with mysterious powers on what had seemed like a routine mission. Ren has the ability to lend Coud bizarre fighting capabilities (his arm turns into a giant blade of some sort), being part of a race of beings called Edel Reid, but being the possessor of a stone called the Elemental Gelade, she has powers even beyond the norm. Erementar Gerad was first published in English as Elemental Gelade by Tokyopop, who published the first twelve volumes from July 11, 2006 to September 7, 2010. DMG later took over the license, and published the series digitally as Erementar Gerade from March 6, 2012 to January 30, 2013.

She is also one of the Seven Glittering Jewels (or Shichiko-hoju), an Eden Raid line said to be the strongest. She recharges her powers by sleeping, which happens fairly often. As the story progresses, she realizes that she has developed feelings for Coud. Her elemental gelade is on her hair above her forehead. Her elemental power is wind, which she best uses defensively. Coud Van Giruet101 fan favoritesExternal profileCoud is a member of the Red Lynx sky pirates, though not very skilled or respected due to his youth. he accidentally awakens the Edel Raid Ren after a raid. Though she has a distaste for humans, Cou treats her as a normal girl and fights to protect her when pursuers arrive, and Ren repays him by reacting with him. He agrees to escort Ren to Eden Garden, and through his company, Ren's feelings towards humans change. On his own, Cou battles with a grappling hook-type weapon, which he uses mostly to dodge attacks and trick enemies with, though he doesn't do very well. After reacting with Ren, she replaces his right arm with a wind-based sword, which allows them to manipulate wind to both thrust it at enemies and create defensive barriers. His naive outlook at the Edel Raid-versus-humans debate makes him treat everyone equally, and he sticks by Ren not for her power, but because he has feelings for her. Of course, he's not very good at explaining that to her.
Cisqua51 fan favoritesExternal profileCisqua is the energetic and upbeat leader of one of Arc Aile's Edel Raid Complete Protection Association squads consisting of Rowen and Kuea. She is honest and passionate about her work, but only because of her desire to be promoted and her love for money. Cisqua is modeled from a character the creator drew in middle and high school and B.B. Hood from the Darkstalkers series. Cisqua is not an Edel Raid pleasure, but she is well versed in martial arts and gunmanship. Despite having a small frame, she's physically strong and capable on taking down well trained pleasures such as the Edel Raid Hunter, Wolx Hound. Underneath her robes and hat, she keeps an arsenal of firearms, missiles, knives, and other weapons she uses to fulfill her missions. It seems that Kuea has a greatly carefree attitude, and also seems to be rather caring to other Edel Raids. Kuea is first shown in episode 1, along with both Rowen and Cisqua in their attempt to retrieve one of seven Shichikouhouju; a girl by the name of Ren. Kuea, like Ren, is also an Edel Raid, as shown when she regularly merges with Rowen. While in their transformed state, a great boost of speed will be present along with a good amount of additional attack power. However, if Kuea isn't fed to the extent that she wishes, she won't be able to perform well at all before merging. It seems however that Kuea and Rowen don't seem to have any true relationship other than just supposedly being friends. Kuea also doesn't seem to care much about the fact that she works for Arc Aile, which is shown through the fact that she never wears their official uniform. Kuea overall doesn't seem to do anything outside of being with Rowen and Cisqua, but she does seem to have some caring feelings for Ren, because they are Edel Raids.
Rowen12 fan favoritesExternal profileRowen (ローウェン, Roowen?), sometimes called just Ro by his friends, is a guardian of Arc Aile and Kuea's pleasure. He is occasionally tasked to assist with his senior in rank, Cisqua. He is a young blond-haired man that tends to dislike conflict. In contrast to the impulsive and somewhat outrageous Cisqua, Rowen is logical, polite, and considerate of others. His friends believe he is perfect in everything he does, but he realizes there are flaws for trying to perfect everything while training at Arc Aile. Rowen appears to be the most ordinary member of the group and is skilled in the more practical ability of cooking, which none of the other members of the group appear to be capable of doing. Since they are always low on money, Rowen usually ends up performing odd jobs to make ends meet. He was actually born into a wealthy family living in comfort, but for an unknown reason, he joined Arc Aile. He is seen unused to hard work and the outdoor life like being afraid of bugs.
