Synopsis

The Sun's Blessing from the Sunny Kingdom of the Wonder Planet provides light to the other kingdoms of the Wonder Planet. Years ago, when the Sun's Blessing was about to go out, the planet was in great peril, but was saved by the legendary Princess Grace. Today, the Sun's Blessing is about to go out again! It's up to the current princesses of the Sunny Kingdom, the twins Fine and Rein, to save the Wonder Planet.

Fine is the one of the twin princesses of Sunny Kingdom. She has red eyes and reddish-pink hair. Fine is referred to as one of "the most unprincess-like princesses in the history of Fushigi-boshi". She frequently whines whenever she sees or hears anything supernatural. Fine may be athletic, but also gluttonous. Just like her sister, Rein, she is not a very good dancer. Nevertheless, she is friendly, kind, and cares about the people she loves (including Shade). Fine is always slow on what others are thinking. She was the first one to find out that Eclipse (Shade) wasn't as bad as everyone thought he was (which soon leads her to fall in love with him). Fine can understand what Shade's little sister, Milky, is saying because they both like to eat. Fine usually do what's best for her without thinking, but Rein stops her.

Shade is the prince of the Moon Kingdom and Milky's older brother. He appears as Eclipse during the beginning of the series. His whip attacks are identified the same as Eclipse. Whenever Shade goes out, he normally dresses up as Eclipse. He's obsessed in the power of the Prominence. Shade may belong to the tsundere family, but the twins (Fine and Rein) discover that his true character is actually a caring person. Shade wants to become a doctor so that he could take care of his sickly mother, Moon Maria/Malia.He has a dinosaur pet named Regina.

Rein is the second protagonist of the series and the other twin princess of Sunny Kingdom. She may look identical to her sister, Fine, but her eyes are sea-green and her hair is blue and much longer than Fine's. Rein is also referred to as one of "the most unprincess-like princesses in the history of Fushigi-boshi", but unlike Fine, she is likes to dress up and wear elaborate decorations. Rein gets crazy when it comes to romance and always end Bright's name with "-sama". She's adventurous, but as friendly, eccentric and caring as Fine. Rein often thinks positive ways to fix things, and acts more feminine than Fine. Her name was originally spelled with an "a" in English, but the director, Junichi Sato, doesn't want her name to be related to the weather "rain". Note: In the manga (and some of the episodes in the anime), Rein had some affection for Shade. Although she was with Shade in some of the episodes in the anime, she is much more in love with Bright.

Bright is the prince of the Jewelry Kingdom and Altezza's older brother. Although he and Shade are the same age, he is a gentleman. His mood changes when he gets possessed by the power of darkness (from kind to evil). In the middle of the series, Eclipse always takes his place when it comes to saving his love interest, Fine. Bright may be in love with Fine at first, but later on, he completely ignores her and moves on to his new love interest, Rein. Note: After Bright realized his feelings for Rein, he and Shade started to get along more often (which leads them to act more like brothers than friends).
