Satoshi2135 fan favoritesExternal profileAsh Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the japanese animation, Pokémon. There are also incarnations of him in the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, the Pocket Monsters Zensho manga, and the Ash & Pikachu manga. He is loosely based on the male protagonist of the Pokémon Red and Blue. The family name "Ketchum" is a pun of the anime's former tagline and slogan "Gotta catch 'em all!" At the beginning of the series, Ash was 10 years old. In the short called "Pikachu & Pichu" which was attached to Pokémon 3: The Movie, he said the day when the events depicted in the short took place was the day he met Pikachu, meaning his age at that time would be at least 11. However, two seasons later, the official Japanese Pokémon website reported that Ash was the same age as May, who was 10 years old at the time. This and the fact that the two are at the same height suggests that none of the characters have aged since the show began, placing the Pokemon anime in a floating timeline. Ash is a caring and valiant trainer but he can be confident to the point of arrogance and is known for being stubborn at times. He also has quite the reckless streak, which has led him to troublesome situations and even near death. But when in a Pokémon battle, he is highly competitive, and he shows tremendous presence of mind, taking advantage of the battlefield as well the nature of his and the enemy Pokémon's moves to claim victory after victory, though he has been known to lose from time to time. Ash has matured greatly over the course of the series, and has considerably improved his abilities as a trainer, but his earnestness and determination remain the same. During the first season of the series, Ash trained to catch more Pokémon than his childhood rival, Gary Oak, although Gary has caught more. He soon begins to focus more on each of his Pokémon's abilities. He also impresses many trainers by winning battles in which his Pokémon has a type disadvantage. At the Johto League Silver Conference Ash finally won a battle against Gary. Throughout the anime, Ash has met a number of rivals, including Richie, whom he faced in the Indigo League, and Casey, a diehard Electabuzz fanatic. During Pokémon tournaments, Ash has made rivals out of Harrison, Jackson, Morrison, and Tyson (the last of which went on to become the champion of the Hoenn Pokémon league). Near the beginning of Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl, Ash meets an arrogant young trainer named Paul, who quickly becomes his new rival. Ash's primary nemesis is a group of comical antagonists named Team Rocket. Ever since the second episode, "Pokémon Emergency!" two Team Rocket operatives named Jessie and James, along with a talking Meowth, have always tried to steal his first Pokémon Pikachu but have always failed. There are some occasions when they work together like the Pokémon: The Movie 2000. Ash's mother is Delia Ketchum (Hanako in Japan). She is a caring and thoughtful woman, though occasionally oblivious as her son, and in the English version of the anime often pesters him to change his boxer shorts every day, a gag throughout the early episodes of the first few series. The identity of his father has remained unknown. One reference to him exists in the anime. During a phone conversation between Ash and his mother in the second episode, she states to her amazement that he got from Pallet Town to Viridian City in one day. "It took your father four days to get there when he started Pokémon training," she says, "He'll be so proud!" A line from the play, Pokémon Live!, suggests that Delia, at one time, had a relationship with the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni when she was a teenager, but in the anime, no evidence of Giovanni being Ash's father has been shown currently. In the episode "Showdown at Dark City," Ash went by the name of Tom Ato (tomato) after spotting some ketchup that Pikachu was eating. He had to disguise his name, so that his real name would not get a bad reputation, since he was dealing with the rivaling Yas and Kas gyms. Ash was based off Red, a playable character from the generation l games, Pokémon Red, Blue and Green, he was also based off Satoshi Tajiri's childhood self.
Pikachu1840 fan favoritesExternal profilePikachu is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur. A female Pikachu has a "V"-shaped notch at the end of its tail, which looks like the top of a heart. It is classified as a quadruped, but it has been known to stand and walk on its hind legs; therefore, Pikachu is a facultative biped. Pikachu stores electric energy using the small pouches in its cheeks in case it is attacked, so one might feel a small shock if it is touched. These pouches become electrically charged during the night as it sleeps, so a dozy Pikachu may occasionally discharge electricity after waking up. If it does not get enough sleep, it will not be able to release said electricity at its full power. When angered or threatened, Pikachu quickly unleashes the electric energy from its cheeks, which can reach the intensity of a lightning bolt. This also serves as a sign that it's wary, and it will feel stressed if it's unable to fully release the electricity. In Sparks Fly for Magnemite (EP030), Pikachu is shown to accumulate energy in its glands, which it will need to eject to avoid complications. When several Pikachu form a group, they are capable of causing thunder storms by building up electricity. If one Pikachu sees another one who is weakened and in need of help, it revitalizes it by recharging it with an electric shock. In Alola, a plan was recently announced to help build an electric power plant by gathering many Pikachu. If its cheek sacs are very soft and stretchy, this means that it can generate powerful electricity. As shown in Pokémon Sleep, Pikachu is known to emit electricity through its cheeks while sleeping, perhaps because it's dreaming of firing electric shots. Pikachu is a curious, playful, and intelligent Pokémon who primarily eats fruits and roasts Berries with its electricity to make them tender enough to eat. However, it can end up accidentally burning them too much if it underestimates the intensity of its charge, as it has a tendency to blast new things it finds. In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, it is also depicted eating and sometimes destroying telephone poles, wires, and other electronic equipment. Pikachu raises its tail to monitor its surroundings and bites people who yank it, as it does not like having it pulled. While doing this, its tail is sometimes struck by lightning. Wild Pikachu live in forested areas away from people and with others of its kind in nests, as seen in the Pokémon the Series episode Pikachu's Goodbye (EP039). Such forests are dangerous, though, as trees there are often struck by lightning. When Pikachu meet, their tails make contact and they exchange electricity through them to greet each other. Relatedly, in A Plethora of Pikachu! (SM091), it is shown that Pikachu from Alola are known to greet each other by sniffing one another and rubbing their tails together. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, it is considered exceptionally rare, though it seems to be a quite common Pokémon in other forms of media. Many Pokémon Trainers prefer Pikachu's cute appearance over Raichu's, which is why the latter is not commonly seen among them. Because of the popularity of Pikachu-themed merchandise, dresses itself in a Pikachu cloth in an effort to look less scary and make friends and appease its loneliness. Unfortunately, its creepy costume only ends up doing the opposite. By occasion, Pikachu can get unintentionally swallowed by . While startled, it looks for ways to escape from the latter. Pikachu, along with Pichu and Raichu, is related to . Forms Pikachu has sixteen additional forms that fall into four groups: Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, the partner Pikachu, and Gigantamax Pikachu. Additionally, many other Pikachu variants have appeared in various media. Cosplay Pikachu Cosplay Pikachu is always female, has a black heart-shaped spot at the end of its tail, and can be dressed in any of five outfits corresponding to the five Contest conditions. Pikachu in a cap Pikachu in a cap is always male and has eight variants, each wearing one of Ash's hats from Pokémon the Series. Pikachu in a cap is the only known Pokémon capable of using the Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Pikachu in a Cap cannot use Catastropika or Gigantamax. Partner Pikachu The partner Pikachu is the Pokémon the player starts with in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!. This Pikachu can be either gender. It has higher base stats than normal Pikachu. Unlike other Pikachu, the partner Pikachu can learn the exclusive moves Zippy Zap, Floaty Fall, and Splishy Splash, as well as having access to the Partner Power Pika Papow. The partner Pikachu is not differentiated from standard Pikachu in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!'s Pokédex, and it cannot be transferred out of the games. Gigantamax Pikachu As Gigantamax Pikachu, it becomes larger and chubbier. Its tail becomes longer and becomes capable of storing all of the electricity it generates, causing it to glow a bright yellow and enabling it to become as powerful as a lightning strike. Three red clouds float around the tail. Its power is equal to that of a power plant; however, it is difficult to use it in peoples' homes since Pikachu can only remain in its Gigantamax form for a short time. Mr. Windychu & Ms. Wavychu Mr. Windychu and Mrs. Wavychu will be characters in Pokémon Winds and Waves respectively. They resemble a tanned Pikachu with clothes similar to the playable character. No further information is known. Evolution Pikachu evolves from and evolves into . In Alola, it evolves into Alolan Raichu. Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, Partner Pikachu, and Pikachu with the Gigantamax Factor cannot evolve. (Source: Bulbapedia)
Takeshi685 fan favoritesExternal profileTakeshi is known as "Brock" in the English Pokémon series. He is the former gym leader of Nibi (Pewter) City who gives up his position to travel with Satoshi (Ash) and Kasumi (Misty) on their journey to catch Pokémon. He aspires to become a top class breeder. He has a weakness for pretty girls and ends up either getting dragged away by Kasumi, Max or stabbed by his Croagunk. At the end of Diamond and Pearl, he's decided to part ways from Dawn and Ash to become a Pokemon Doctor.
Haruka303 fan favoritesExternal profileMay, known as Haruka in Japan, is a character in the Pokémon franchise, a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, toys and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. In the anime, May is usually seen wearing a red bandanna with a white Poké ball logo, a red-and-blue shirt, a pair of white, blue-tipped gloves, a pair of red-themed shoes with a pair of matching black socks and a navy-blue pair of cycling shorts partially covered by a white miniskirt. She also wears a yellow pouch around her waist. At the age of 10, May traveled from her hometown of Petalburg City to Littleroot Town to see Professor Birch, the authority on Pokémon in the Hoenn region. As a friend of her father's, he had agreed to give her one of three Pokémon; a Treecko, a Torchic, or a Mudkip, so that she could become a Pokémon Trainer. However, when she arrived, she found that the Hoenn Pokémon Professor had gone after an ill Pikachu belonging to Ash Ketchum. She went to look for the Professor, only to find him stuck in a tree and about to be attacked by a group of angry Poochyena, mirroring the beginning of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. His only hope was for May to get a Pokémon out of his bag and use it to fend off the Poochyena. However, May, who was inexperienced at commanding Pokémon, only got water sprayed in her face by the Mudkip she pulled out. Professor Birch then commanded the Mudkip and scared off the Poochyena. The experience was less than pleasant for May. After they found Ash, the group was attacked by Team Rocket. In an attempt to get rid of the criminals, Pikachu accidentally fried May's bicycle to a crisp, reminiscent of the first episode of the series in which Pikachu fried Misty's bike, giving Misty a reason to follow Ash around for the rest of the series. The audience was led to believe that May would decide to follow Ash for the very same reason. However, the next morning, after choosing Torchic as her starter Pokémon, May stared at the charred remains of her bike in a remorseful fashion, only to shrug it off and say, "Eh, who cares?" She decided to accompany Ash so that she could have a traveling companion to show her the ropes. When the group reaches Rustboro City, May decided that instead of collecting gym badges, she would dedicate her efforts completely to Pokémon Contests. Since then, she has won several ribbons in most of the Contest halls she has traveled to. May has a rivalry with a Pokémon coordinator named Drew (or Shū in Japanese), who appears at every contest that May participates in, which is often compared to the rivalry that Ash had shared with Gary Oak. She also has a rivalry with a Cacturne obsessive named Harley. While Ash and Brock went to Sinnoh, May chose to follow her rivals to Johto instead. Current Pokemon on Her Team:Other Pokemon:
Jirachi27 fan favoritesExternal profileJirachi is a small, white, humanoid Pokémon. It has short, stubby legs and comparatively longer arms. There are flaps on the underside of its arms, which give the impression of long sleeves. On its belly is a curved seam, which conceals a third, yellow eye with a cyan pupil, known as its "true eye". Additionally, Jirachi has a normal pair of ovalish eyes on its face, with small, blue triangular markings underneath. On its head is a large, yellow structure with three points extending outward: one from the top and one on either side. On each point is a teal tag, known as a "wish tag". A rounded extension hangs from either side of the yellow structure, framing Jirachi's face. Two yellow streamers flow from Jirachi's back, resembling comet tails. Jirachi hibernates for most of its life, awakening for seven days every thousand years. It can be also awakened if sung to by a voice of purity. While it sleeps, a tough, crystalline shell envelops its body to protect it from enemies. However, it is still capable of fighting while asleep when its shell is not enough to protect it, as seen in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. During the short periods when it is awake, Jirachi is said to grant wishes. However, in the movie Jirachi: Wish Maker (M06), Jirachi cannot create an object that is desired from a wish. Instead, it teleports the desired object to the person that made the wish. By contrast, in the Pokémon the Series: Black & White episode Searching for a Wish! (EP132), it displays the ability to grant wishes without the use of teleportation. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Jirachi will only grant wishes when its true eye is opened. Additionally, it can only grant three wishes every thousand years, which are written on each of its three wish tags. In this canon, Jirachi is shown being able to create artificial Pokémon through its wishes, animating a mass of seawater in the shape of a Kyogre. Jirachi's power is similarly exploited in the movie to create a monstrous . The movie further reveals that Jirachi's awakening is linked to the appearance of the Millennium Comet and that its third eye has the ability to absorb the energy Jirachi needs for hibernation. It is said that Jirachi's ability to grant wishes also gives it great attack power, as seen when it creates a concentrated bundle of light to blast its target. Although it is extremely rare, Jirachi can be found in the mountains. (Source: Bulbapedia)
Masato11 fan favoritesExternal profileHe's the little brother of Haruka. He doesn't have Pokémon because he isn't 10 years or older. He always carries along his PokéNav to find their way.
Groudon1 fan favoritesExternal profileGroudon is a massive, bipedal, dinosaur-like Pokémon covered in red, segmented plates of thick, armor-like skin. It has a gray underside and large white spikes that run along the sides of its head, body, and tail. Groudon has four claws on each hand, four dozer-like blades on the end of its large tail, and three claws on each foot with gray markings under its feet. It also has blue stripes inside the seams of its armor plating which can only be seen when Groudon is glowing with power. Groudon is believed to be the personification of the land itself, and is described in legends and myths as a "maker of lands" who created the world's continents and expanded the landmasses by generating magma formations. It is also capable of summoning intense sunlight that can dispel rain clouds, evaporate water, and weaken Water-type moves; because of this, it was hailed as a savior for stopping terrible floods. As a super-ancient Pokémon, Groudon is one of the longest-lived species, thought to have lived for thousands of years. It can walk on water by using magma to form a path beneath its feet. Though normally a calm and helpful Pokémon, in olden times, it encountered its rival, Kyogre, and for years, the two engaged in a cataclysmic battle for dominion of the world. They were stopped by the intervention of , who sealed Groudon within Seafloor Cavern under Mt. Chimney, where it has since slumbered underneath the magma. During its sleep, its body is encased in a layer of rock that will be shattered once it is awakened by the Red or Blue Orb. It lives in rough terrain. Groudon loves Groudon Treats made by Snacksworth, who once encountered it in the past. As seen in Hyperspace Desolate Land, Groudon's subconscious takes the appearance of the Cave of Origin. Forms Groudon can undergo Primal Reversion and become Primal Groudon. Its appearance remains mostly the same, but it becomes larger and its skin color changes from dark red to deep crimson, with its underside, spikes, and teeth turning black. The blades on its tail are more separated from one another. The Ω symbol can be seen on its arms, and its eyes, the inside of its mouth, and the enlarged openings between its armor plating glow bright yellow. Its irises are also red. Primal Groudon is said to be Groudon's true, original, and fully powered form, having received its name from the ancient people of the Hoenn region who it tormented in the past. The energy that fills it pours forth as magma, and it burns with such an extreme temperature that its body is always shimmering with the haze of its heat. Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre fought each other over the natural energy that was abundant in the primal age millennia ago; one of their clashes lasted for 20 days straight and threatened to disrupt the planet's balance and destroy it before Rayquaza stopped them. Research data from the Weather Institute indicates that Primal Groudon has the power to eliminate all life before initiating a reset of the planet. It was formed from the natural primal energy that existed in Hoenn's ancient past, which it has to feed on so it can maintain its transformation in the present day after it was undone by Mega Rayquaza. Due to the lack of natural energy in the surface, it is forced to find either a source underground, such as the stones in the Cave of Origin, or the Red Orb, which contains the remaining energy of the primordial world, allowing it to undergo Primal Reversion. With its weather-manipulating powers, Primal Groudon can outright nullify Water-type moves rather than simply weaken them. In the Mega Evolution Pokédex Short, it is said to create new land with every step it takes. (Source: Bulbapedia)
