Itsuki has the ability to exorcize vengeful spirits through kissing them on the lips, which allows her to absorb their energy and purify it. She works alongside Fujiwara no Michinaga and Katsuragi, the latter of whom took her under his protection after Itsuki's family died seven years prior, and trains her as his successor. Itsuki is nicknamed Ayanashi no Kimi by the nobles of the city and regarded with fear by them. As the extent of her purification ability is unknown, Katsuragi forbids her to kiss any living person. He is the head of the Katsuragi family. He performs exorcisms with Fujiwara no Michinaga and Itsuki, the latter of whom he has taken care of for seven years, since her family died. As a "user of the soul purification technique", like many of the Katsuragi family, he is capable of communicating with and purifying vengeful spirits.
