Synopsis

Second Lieutenant Matsumoto, a fighter pilot of the Imperial Japanese Army, faces the Allied Air Forces aboard his Kawasaki Ki-61 "Hien" (Tony) over the Solomons, New Guinea and the Philippines. Faced with enemies, always superior in numbers, he survives fierce battles thanks to his intelligence and with the help of squadron leader Ozawa and his mechanic Hino. Hien Dokuritsu Sentoutai is based on Himetaru Kuusen, the memoirs of Japanese World War II pilot Yoshio Matsumoto. The series was published in French by Éditions Paquet under the Cockpit imprint on September 25, 2013.
