Pride Royal Ivy118 fan favoritesExternal profilePride Royal Ivy, First Princess of the Freesia Kingdom. Currently acting as a Crown Princess. Is born with precognition powers. She has personal maids like Lotte and Marie, her Imperial Knights that can protect her (Arthur, Alan, Callum, Eric, Harrison) and her beloved Royal siblings who are always by her side, Stale and Tiara. Additionally, she was forced to enslave a criminal who is in her care at the present moment (Val) and treated him well to make sure he can live past hardships and earn an honest life. Although she sometimes uses the knowledge in the game that she loved and will be able to prioritize it for as long as she can to save those capture targets of the otome game. It can be somewhat challenging for her when other men in her life are actively trying to win her over while harboring no feelings for her romantic endeavors, as she tends to rationalize their actions, which leaves her giving them a practical solution to focus more on the important tasks at hand. Pride is fundamentally kind, intelligent, responsible, nurturing and strategizing her next move. Pride is two steps ahead of her time because she is aware of her unique skills and last boss cheats and has a particular habit of internally showing her savior complex down to her core, but slowly realizes she is the 'Last Boss Queen' of the otome game in (Our Ray of Light) after she got hit by a huge truck that sweeps off her shoes. At her core, she is more like the reincarnated high school girl who resides in the evil princess. Due to this fact, she became extremely sensitive, empathic, strong-willed, leadership skills, willing to do everything, including sacrificing herself for their safety and happiness of other people whom she had helped and for the stability of the kingdom away from self-indulgence and desolation, the opposite of what the Villainess Pride does. She harbors an immense amount of guilt due to her knowing the atrocities that her game counterpart might cause and will do everything she can to prevent any tragedies that she supposed to create in the future from the things she afraid of doing the past mistakes from the OG Pride. The same guilt often causes her to break out into tears for the ones who might have a tragic fate because of Pride's sselfishness whenever she remembers those tragic events that might happen. However, she also often finds a sense of relief rather than having more doubts due to the tragedies that were prevented, in which,as a result of her culmination, Pride witnessed others' happiness, like Stale, Tiara, Arthur, her parents etc., because she changed the trajectory of other people's lives in a positive way. Pride prioritizes her people's welfare over herself, both out of desire to atone for her future shortcomings, where she consumes genuine guilt one day as a potential tyrannical ruler, even though she had contributed great deeds and sacrifices to her nation.
Val19 fan favoritesExternal profileVal is a former mercenary and an ex-convict from the lower class with the ability to specialize in earthbending skills (Geokinesis). He has the appearance and personality of a cynical lone wolf. He has no patriotism. He is marked by indifference to the fact he cannot form such lasting personal connections, his outward bravado and tough demeanor serving as both armor and a self-imposed barrier. At the outset, his mother left him in the slums when he was a child. Henceforth, he made a living as a bandit. One time, he lured unsuspecting knights by planning an ambush. However, his luck ran out when he targeted the Captain of the Knights, Roderick, leading to his capture by Pride herself. Left imprisoned and facing execution by the Royal Family for leading a siege that took Anemonian Knights as hostages and also trapped their knights in the battle. Therefore, he calls Pride a 'Monster' for witnessing Pride’s monstrous combat prowess as she decimated most of his crew. He endured a grueling ordeal before being forced into signing a servitude contract by offering Val a choice to live. Pride initiates a command where she will speak out her premonition on those future-based warnings to Val, as these main orders are— to protect her sister Tiara no matter what happens and he will return to her, asking for help once if he is ever in a desperate situation. Val's resistance is met with confusion rather than anger before sending him home, since Val has been neutralized as a threat due to the servitude contract restraining him from doing illegal activities specifically to penalize him for his past actions. In Val's ominous past, he was actively working through various underground operations like human trafficking when he wasn’t under a binding contract during his self-preservation. While in his original timeline, he is meant to work with Pride as her subordinate to track down Tiara. Clearly, the moment that he is bound by that contract, his priorities shift. Everything changes when two homeless children follow him into his daily routine, looking for a guardian. As he gradually adjusts to a difficult new life, Val takes them in and names them, accepting an unexpected parental role that reforms him as he becomes closer to the kids in later years. He might be driven to protect those he secretly cared for. Val returns to his master but finds himself powerless. Ultimately, he is forced to seek help from Pride to rescue those children who got kidnapped and might be sold into slavery, which Val reluctantly agrees to assist. But now, he is no longer defined by who he once was after Pride gave meaning to his pivoted emotions. He can't quite put his feelings into words, but he now carries himself with the quiet resolve of a man who at last has something to protect because he has realized what it means to care and to have a family, something he had previously disregarded as a lonely man whose only goal was solely on survival. After rescuing those children and people from human traffickers. Val remains to work with Pride's orders under the status of a deliveryman and acts as a guardian for those children he adopted to let them stay beside him.
Stale Royal Ivy9 fan favoritesExternal profileStale Royal Ivy. An Adopted Step-Brother in Law who's been submitted forcefully to serve the Royal Family and giving him the title of a Prince. Pride, who is responsible on Stale's subordination in the game, will now change his fate for preventing him signing up the contract and she is given him a chance to write letters for his mother by working with her and serving the palace to let Stale train as a future Regent.. where Stale trusts Pride for giving him an lifetime opportunity to protect her for having mercy.
Tiara Royal Ivy7 fan favoritesExternal profileTiara is Pride's younger sister and the original protagonist of the game. Events from the game are mentioned throughout the series, with Tiara being presented, like a physical, living hug plushie or holding hands while the male protagonists—aka the romance candidates of the original game—talk about Pride (in a negative and hateful way). To make it clear, even in the original game, the story is just about Pride, while Tiara only serves as a support character for the princes, filling the role of a protagonist and lover rather than an active protagonist. However, after Pride gets reincarnated into the game's world and becomes the protagonist, it is no surprise that Tiara's impact in the series is reduced to that of a cute little sister with her head in the clouds, loving to read fairy tales while everyone else is working on getting better to support Pride—including Pride herself—for the goal of making the kingdom a better place for everyone. In a way, if you removed her from the anime, you wouldn't notice any major difference, though some cute scenes won't happen.
Arthur Beresford7 fan favoritesExternal profileArthur is a secondary character in the story. Son of Knight Commander Roderick of Freesia. His father expected him to become a knight. Though Arthur initially gave up on that goal because he believed his Special Ability was not suited for combat. In "To a Beam of Light With You". He replaces his father, who died during the successful attack by mercenaries, as the Knight Commander. The original timeline, Arthur was a tragic and vengeful character because of Pride's evil personality and respect for his late father. He witnessed his father's death due to a landslide that happened during an ambush planned by the bandit Val. His grief from this loss, added with Pride callously disrespecting Roderick's death made Arthur devote his life for vengeance and desire to became Roderick the Knight Commander. Thanks to this, he became a knight that even far surpassed his father. This Arthur however also developed hatred for Tiara since she is the sister of Pride and would continue to hate her until she finally healed his grief and pain. Arthur in anime incarnation is a stark contrast of his game counterpart in which he never became a vengeful person like in the original timeline, the only similarity is his skills and respect for his father Roderick. Like the original, he was forced to witness his father nearly dying in Val's ambush but assured by Pride that everything will be alright. After watching his father rescued by Pride, witnessing firsthand the princess' kindness and desire to fulfill her promise, Arthur broke-down in tears after knowing his father's life was saved. This event made him develop a fierce devotion, respect and love for Pride, which extended to the entire royal family and kingdom. Arthur's devotion for Pride was so strong that it (ironically) became his main reason and drive to be a knight who will always be there to protect her, wherever and whenever. In addition, he developed a close bond of friendship and rivalry with Stale and the two trust each other genuinely to the point that Arthur himself is treated like a member of the royal family.
