Synopsis

Collection of four short stories related to the Kurama-yama arc. First narrated by Jirou, tells of his relationship with Suirou and his first encounter with the thunder beast. The second, narrated by Suirou, is about his relationship with Kurama (Shinjurou) and the events that led to his injury. The third is about Nanami trying to figure out whether or not Tomoe really said he liked her at the end of the Kurama-Yama arc. And the last one is about Botanmaru befriending a small tenma.

Tomoe is a familiar to the last land god, Mikage. Currently he is the familiar of Nanami and sealed their contract with a kiss. He shows a wonderful talent for cooking and is shown to be highly dedicated to the shrine. Tomoe worries a great deal about Nanami and is very aware of how delicate she is as a human, threatening anyone who harms her or speaks ill of her. It is often implied that he loves Nanami, such as doing random acts of kindness for her and refusing to kill in front of her. Plus, it is also indicated that he sometimes gets very jealous of other guys who hang around her. He is also very loyal to Nanami, as shown by him kissing her to seal their contract again after it had been broken.

On the first few parts, Jirou was known as a cruel leader. He was merciless and banished many other tengu when they showed any sign of weakness. An example was how he had treated Kurama when he had been younger.

Botanmaru is a child tengu who lives on Kurama Mountain. Nanami first runs into him while he is searching for Shinjirou, whom he worships as his role model, in an attempt to bring him back and quell the unrest caused by Soujoubou's illness and the battle for succession. He takes a great liking to Nanami after she compliments his bravery, and likes hanging around her.
