Synopsis

Mirai Fukuin is a side story of Kara no Kyoukai novel series. It includes two stories and three short manga chapters taking place after the events of the series. Möbius ring It's about two psychics, Seo Shizune and Kuramitsu Meruka, who can foresee the future. Shizune was sick of her predictable boring life and Meruka became a professional bomber taking advantage of his supernatural power. When Shizune met Mikiya and when Meruka met Shiki, their immutable future started to change. Möbius link Taking place ten years after the events of Kara no Kyoukai, Mana Ryougi, Shiki's daughter, spends the day with Kamekura Mitsuru. Manga shorts 01_feline - Shiki takes care of a cat for Mikiya. 02_daylight - Fujino Asagami helps a friend of one of Kirie Fujou's victims get over her death. 03_say grace - Shiki asks Mikiya out on New Years.

She recently recovered from a two-year coma caused by a traffic accident. Prior to the traffic accident, she had two personalities: a male personality known as SHIKI, and a female personality known as Shiki. Children born into the Ryougi family are generally male and are raised with two personalities, so the male personality is customarily called the "yang" personality, while the female is called the "yin" personality. It is easy to tell which Shiki is speaking at any given time because both personalities have a distinct style of speech, most notably seen when the female Shiki refers to herself with the pronoun watashi, while the male Shiki refers to himself as ore. After awaking from her coma, Shiki discovers that she can no longer feel the male Shiki's presence and assumes he died because of the accident. She also feels a detachment from her memories before the accident, and while she knows she is Shiki, she does not feel that she is. In the hopes of regaining herself and the dead Shiki, she puts on a cold facade that somewhat resembles the female Shiki's. Touko holds his investigative skills with high-regard because of his ability to find her workplace, an abandoned building hidden to all except those who wish to find it. The male Shiki and the current Shiki call him Cocteau (コクトー, Kokutoo?) due to his last name's resemblance to Jean Cocteau's last name, though the current Shiki dislikes it for an unknown reason. Shizune is gifted with special eyes can sometimes see future events, a fact that she usually keeps a secret in order to avoid being mistreated by those who would doubt of her ability. Due to her power she carries complex feelings, for example she is bad at studying, but with her power obtaining the first place in every school exam is easy as the image of the answers will automatically come to her. She also feels guilty since whenever she reads the future of a person that equates to read a part of that person's life without permission. But, her biggest complex is her belief that whenever she foresees a disaster, she can't mend it at all; she strongly believes as the future that she sees as absolute and unchangeable, and thus sees herself as someone "cursed" to witness events without been able to do anything about it.
