52 years old (as of chapter 101, 43 years old at the start of the series), a lawyer. He's gay. Kenji calls him 'Shirou-san'. When he was 40 years old he met Kenji at a shop in Shinjuku Ni-chome, then they met again when he was a client at the beauty salon where Kenji works. After several dates they became lovers and started living together. According to Shirou, Kenji isn't his type at all, and from what Kou says later, all the guys he'd dated before were the opposite of Kenji. Shirou wouldn't even admit when he was dissatisfied with his favourite type of man. Rather, because of his personality of being mindful to others, he was stressed because of Nobuhiko, his lover before Kenji. Since he hasn't come out as gay, people at work believe that he has a girlfriend. He looks forward to cooking a well-balanced meal at home after work or on holidays. He didn't cook when he was young, but after being shocked at gaining weight when he was in his thirties, he started eating the food cooked by the man he was dating at the time and immediately started losing weight. After that, he started to cook by himself. He can cook most dishes well, although he has trouble cooking tempura. He is frugal with money and keeps a household account book (at worst, he's stingy). He keeps track of the prices in nearby supermarkets and manages the house budget by not buying beef, except when he's cooking a beef dish. Because he tries not to gain weight, he looks younger than his age and is regarded as handsome because of it. He has a slight complex that his taste isn't like most gay men, such as him liking female idols that they don't and keeping messy lunch boxes but on the other hand, he's afraid of being gay in public and is worried that he half-shows it. Changes are ocurring as he ages such as his vision and Kenji tells him that he's starting to have a grandma's taste. Regarding female idols, he's a fan of Hiroko Matsuura, Yoshino Kaho and especially Mami Mitani. He records lots of television dramas and movies where they appear to watch on Saturdays and Sundays. He's generally a civilian lawyer and also serves as an advisory lawyer for companies, but he is not good at bench trials because he has little experience in criminal proceedings. 50 years old (as of chapter 101, 41 years old at the beginning of the series). He's gay. Shirou's partner, whom he calls 'Shirou-san'. He's pleased whenever Shirou says bad things about women. He has delicate taste, such as being fond of the colour pink and having a beauty routine. As for entertainment, he prefers cute boys such as Johnny's as opposed to Shirou who likes female idols. He works as a hairstylist at a beauty salon where Yu Miyake, a classmate from cosmetology school, is the store manager and Kenji also cuts Shirou's hair at home sometimes. Although his abilities are the same as any beautician's, his friendly and cheerful personality enables him to handle any customer dexterously and as such he's also part of the team that handles troublesome customers at work. Even though Yu tried to push him to take on more rensposibilities at the salon, he didn't feel like it because he didn't consider himself suited to management. After hearing about a mobile hairstylist from his mother in chapter 89, he thought of making a visit as one to an elderly customer's home who had been unable to come to the beauty salon. After that, there were many requests for work as a mobile hairstylist from other customers, which caused concern about the future of the beauty salon, so Kenji started to think of working as a mobile hairstylist in earnest. However, with Yu's insistence, he was appointed as the store manager in chapter 112. Since he's not good at calculations and at using computers, he struggles with closing the cash register and with sending sales report e-mails to Yu, but he stabilises his management by listening to the customers' requests and by having flexible business hours. In addition, he continues his work as a mobile hairstylist on Tuesdays, which is a regular holiday of the shop. He's come out as gay and unlike Shirou, Kenji has no hesitations of others seeing him that way. He talks of Shirou to the people around him as 'a boyfriend who lives with him'.
