Kyou ga Meinichi was adapted from a short story web novel written by Rone Imashima for a collaboration contest by Shueisha's Shounen no Abyss manga and Kadokawa's Mahou no i-land site. Kyou ga Meinichi won the grand prize, which earned it an adaptation by Ryou Minenami.
