About this title

Synopsis

A long time ago, humanity stumbled upon magical creatures called Majik. To acquire the powers of a Majik, one has to pass a trial set by the being itself. While men are unable to use magic, a woman who has the ability to capture and tame Majiks is granted the title of a witch. Abandoned as a child in the middle of a mountain, Ichi learned to fend for himself by hunting. While he is a pacifist at heart, he would not hesitate to defend himself if he senses danger. Believing a sleeping creature in the woods poses an extreme threat to humanity, Ichi has prepared to kill it. Unbeknownst to Ichi, the creature is King Uroro, the King Majik who hates humankind. No witch—including the Abyssal Witch Desscaras—has been able to pass Uroro's test. However, Ichi miraculously acquires Uroro, thus becoming the first and only male witch. Ichi’s usual outfit is perfect for life on the mountain. He wears a heavy coat to stay warm, sturdy boots for rough terrain, and practical gloves. His outfit also includes a fluffy cape or feathered collar for extra protection from the weather. His black hair is usually messy but is sometimes tied back to keep it out of his face. Overall, his clothing is practical and suited to the tough mountain environment. Ichi's isolated childhood in the mountains has given him the courage and boldness of a young man with strong hunting and survival instincts. He was abandoned at the age of six and forced to live alone, where he struggled to make ends meet and was nearly suicidal. But after all of this, he demonstrated inner fortitude when facing a wolf, and he came out of it determined to live and improve his abilities. He gains an appreciation for life, improves his hunting and gathering skills, and becomes resolute in his desire to survive. Despite spending years alone, Ichi never had any difficulties interacting with others. As can be observed, upon his return to the hamlet after killing a moose, he was greeted with great warmth by the locals. In kind, he replies in a lighthearted, pleasant, and personable manner. In addition, he would comfortably converse with the women of the village about their plans and offer to share rabbit meat with them while they travel, even if he claims he is unable to go since he still has personal work to complete. Although Ichi seemed to like living in the mountains, and while he was grateful for the villagers' hospitality, his attention was on himself. Ichi's life experience made him a thoughtful and realistic individual. Since he values life, he believes that killing without cause is murder. The only species that should be killed in his opinion are those who pose a threat to humanity's existence. His instincts and situational awareness come through when he chooses not to use any of his hunting weapons until it is absolutely essential when he faces the creature. In addition, Ichi has a strong sense of justice and acts quickly when he perceives danger. Ichi uses his keen senses and strategically placed traps to outwit King Uroro and ultimately prevail in their battle. Ichi is determined, charging confidently into danger and acting decisively when the need arises. Ichi can adapt even when he is confused, as he is when he first gains magical abilities. He is also eager about the prospect of hunting Majiks despite his lack of understanding of the magical realm, as it makes sense given his background as a hunter. Gokuraku is the younger brother of Princess Richia Kagami, making him the prince of the Bakugami Kingdom. His primary goal is to acquire the slumbering Majik known as Bakugami, who is revered as a deity in his homeland. However, his repeated attempts to defeat Bakugami have been unsuccessful. Upon meeting Ichi, the first known male witch, Gokuraku enlists his help in acquiring Bakugami. Gokuraku possesses a lean but muscular build, emphasizing agility and power. His arms are well-defined, showcasing his physical strength. His back, however, holds one of his most intriguing features—a large, spine-like modification that he claims to have "built" himself. The design of this modification suggests a fusion of organic and mechanical elements, reinforcing his resourcefulness and willingness to alter his own body for combat efficiency, specifically, to touch Majiks. He himself says you could call him a "Anti-Majik Augmented Human". Gokuraku is officially listed as a dangerous individual by the Mantinel Witches Association due to his relentless and violent attempts to acquire Majiks. Her position in Team Desscaras, between the powerful Abyssal Witch Desscaras and the first male witch, Ichi, makes her feel even more insignificant—especially with her already low confidence. She is also easily embarrassed when complimented on her magic by Ichi. Despite her insecurities, she is a kind-hearted person. Kumugi seems also to come from a noble background, with Spica Harvest being her sister, where she was considered a talent-less child with no chance of becoming a notable witch. She was often mocked by both adults and her peers, which significantly damaged her self-confidence. While Kumugi lacks courage, magic, and combat skill, she makes up for it with her intellectual analysis, which she documents in her reports. Kumugi's greatest strength is her ability to create highly detailed reports about any event she witnesses. This skill is the primary reason Shirabedonna chose her for Team Desscaras. She proved her talent when her report on Ichi’s trial of Uruwashi became the main evidence used in the Witches' Conference to officially announce Ichi’s existence to the world.
