About this title

Synopsis

Ikuto Touhouin is a 14-year-old boy, who had a fight with his father and ran away from home. He later boards a ship overseas, but a huge storm hits and sinks the ship. After spending a week drifting in the ocean, he arrives in an island, with the only exception that all the people there act like people from the Meiji era, and that they are all actually females! The girls were unable to come into contact with other people, let alone males, as there were whirlpools surrounding the island, making it impossible to leave. Now that these love-starved women finally come into contact with a male, what will happen now? (Source: ANN, edited)

Machi is Ayane's older sister. She may look innocent, but she is actually something of a sadist. She enjoys torturing people with her voodoo doll—especially her little sister—enjoying their pained expressions. Whenever she has to get things done, she tends to use the most dangerous way to do so. She has a weakness though: her age. Machi is very sensitive about it so whenever someone calls her old, she gets a shock. Machi has an eye on Ikuto because of that, thinking she should be getting married soon.

Age: 14 Birthday: February 15, 1988 Blood type: A Height: 151cm Weight: 40kg Ikuto ran away from his father, and after he fell from a ship while going on a vacation, he drifted to a island with nothing but girls. He is rescued by a girl named Suzu, who gives him a place to live. Because he's the only guy on the island, all the girls chase after him. When somebody says the word 'impossible' Ikuto goes berserk and will try to do the thing which is impossible anyway, although most of the time he fails. He also gets a nosebleed and faints when a girl undresses in front of him (which happens a LOT, he even says that he will eventually die from blood loss one day). He also has a strong bond with Suzu, because whenever she is not feeling well or is in danger, he will do anything in his power to help her.

Ayane is Suzu's rival, always being defeated by her and wanting to win at least once. Despite her appearance, she is actually 16 years old, and being underdeveloped she is also jealous of Suzu's sudden growth. She is deathly afraid of Machi, her older sister, and uses anesthetic darts as her main weapon. She hopes to take Ikuto captive and trump Suzu. She is a miko at the local shrine along with Machi and their mother Chizuru (whom Ikuto mistook for her sister at first). She also frequently uses a giant ostrich named Monjiro as transport.

Rin is an apprentice carpenter who is popular on Airan due to her somewhat tomboyish outfit and attitude, she was the subject of a lot of attention and romantic interest from other women before Ikuto's arrival. She found this situation so uncomfortable that she developed a tendency to bathe alone. Rin's busty frame belies her amazing strength, although she thinks of herself as feminine: unlike the other girls, she hates being seen naked, and likes to dress in pretty clothes when no one is watching. She is also an excellent chef - in fact, as indicated in the manga, she is far better at cooking than she is at carpentry. Initially, Rin propositions Ikuto to be her husband to prove her heterosexuality (and so end the advances made on her by the other girls); however, she soon develops real feelings for him. She calls Ikuto "danna" ("hubby" or husband), much to Ikuto's chagrin.

Age: 14 Birthday: September 29, 1987 Blood type: B Height: 152cm Weight: 39kg Shinobu, who is Mikoto's real sister, is a ninja, but became infatuated with samurai and set out on a journey to train herself. Because of her horrible sense of direction and clumsiness, she gets lost deep in the forest and does not find out about Ikuto's arrival until much later. Hearing that Ikuto's a great sword master who defeated the Leader of the North in a swordfight, she stubbornly persists in her request to spar with Ikuto for days until he agrees to do so. After Ikuto 'defeates' her, she becomes Ikuto's disciple in swordsmanship, owing again to her extreme stubbornness that Ikuto doesn't wish to put up with after already experiencing it. Because Shinobu is so obsessed with becoming strong and sparring, she doesn't know 'love'. This has been illustrated quite a few times. During her match with Ikuto, when he accidentally grabbed her breasts, she didn't know what kind of feeling she had at that moment. At another time, when every other girl was hoping that Ikuto would pay them a visit in their room because that would be a sign he loved that girl the most, Shinobu thought Ikuto would come to her room to spar. She does however start to become jealous of others receiving attention from Ikuto such as Rin and Suzu, once seeing Suzu be patted on the head by Ikuto, she becomes fixated on Ikuto praising herself in the same manner. Like most inhabitants, Shinobu also has an animal who follows her day and night, a cow named 'Beef Jerky'.

Mei Mei is an outsider just like Ikuto. Her family worked as traveling performers, but she kept messing up and embarked on a journey to improve her skills, but ends up on the island. She is very shy and reclusive, to the point where she is forced to illustrate her thoughts through drawings and she cannot talk to a stranger unless she is wearing a disguise (usually a large tree costume). She befriended the kappa, Tohno, during her travels, and the creature has accompanied her to the island. She develops feelings for Ikuto after he fought for her so she wouldn't get taken away by Tiger, who wanted her to become the North Leader.

Yukino is the youngest girl on the island, being eleven years old, and is sensitive about her age. She has an affinity for animals and is usually seen riding one, most often a giant bear named Kuma Kuma. Her connection to nature dates back to when she was too young to help with farm work, and was often left to play with the woodland creatures. Her habit of riding everywhere would suggest that she should tire easily, but in the anime she is quite athletic, being able to race with her animal friends and win. Birthday: November 3 Chikage is obsessed with scientific research, and wants Ikuto for the sole purpose of examining a real male and learning about the world beyond the island from him. She collects things that drift in from the modern world and plans on adding Ikuto to her collection, seeing him as a potentially invaluable source of information. Chikage lives in the only English-style house on Airan with her elephant maid, Panako. She has a habit of reading mature magazines and gets misguided ideas from them to use against Ikuto. Although Ikuto believes her to be a calm, well-behaved girl, Yukino has noted that Chikage tends to perform strange experiments and questionable researches. In the manga, and episode 17, she proves the truth of this statement when she briefly gains access to magic and causes havoc around the island until it is taken away by an angry Panako. In the beginning of volume 12, she explains that she, Yukino, Kunai, Shinobu and Mikoto are cousins.

Michiru is a sixteen-year old Hanyou, a cross between a human and a mythical folklore creature, in this case a Yuki-onna, "Snow Woman", which basically makes her half-human, half-yuki-onna. Her heritage makes her extremely weak against the heat and the summer but she is totally fine with the cold, and can walk around the island's freezing mountain tops with practically almost nothing on. Ikuto was staring at her for some reason and we later find out that that is because she resembles Ikuto's sister, Misaki. Michiru currently requires a snow angel which helps her compensate against the heat while walking around outside in the village. No voice actors have been added to this character. Touno is a female kappa who, a thousand years before the events of the story, caused so much trouble that a monk sealed her away. Mei Mei freed her when she left the circus and ends up with Mei Mei on the island. Tohno is supposedly a skilled enough warrior to defeat Pandaro, the Eastern Leader, and is considered a rival by Machi. Tohno loves to eat cucumbers.

She's first shown when Suzu and the others see a picture of her with Ikuto and mistake her for his lover. She loves all animals, and has a terrible sense of direction like Shinobu.
