Shuuichi Saihara is a student in Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles and a participant in the Killing School Semester featured in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Shuuichi has the title of the Ultimate Detective (Super High School Level Detective). Though he himself claims he doesn't deserve it, as he is only a "detective-in-training." He runs a detective agency with his uncle, where he mostly deals with minor cases. In a conversation with Kaede, Shuichi claimed that the hardest case he ever had was for a missing pet assignment, which was an alligator. He stated it was much harder, than any infidelity case he ever worked on. By Case 1, Shuichi tells Kaede how he once caught a murderer who was seeking revenge for his family, and how he regrets it.
