About this title

Synopsis

A virus spreads across the world, transforming all humankind into wild, slavering, furry beasts: cats, to be precise. Those few survivors who remain human take refuge in the dark corners of the earth as they fight back against the feline horde. Kunagi, a man with no memory of his past yet a deep knowledge of cats, struggles to hold on with only his wits and a will to survive. Kunagi is an employee of a cat cafe with no memory of his past who works there alongside a brother and sister, Gaku and Kaoru. He often wears a blank expression but may appear very expressive at times such as when he experiences distress. He is known to be very protective of cats, as shown when he threatened one of the customers for attempting to pick up one of the cats in the cafe. His eyes are blue and he appears to always be tired with the eye bags under his eyes and he has long blueish black hair which has a cat bell as a hair tie. Kunagi is first shown wearing a white shirt and jeans with a black cat apron, but eventually wears armor with a welding mask while retaining his signature cat apron. Kunagi is usually clever, serious and takes his job seriously, he can be suprisingly agile in order to escape the horde of cats, though he is shown to be prone to extreme guilt when he has to defend himself directly against a horde of cats, often to the point of crying and begging for forgiveness, especially when using a sprinkler to deter them. Kunagi is also known to have very extensive knowledge of cat facts, often mentioning it when he is on action.

Kaoru is a employee of a cat cafe and is also a student, she works alongside Kunagi and her brother, Gaku. And is a close friend of Tsutsumi Kaoru is shown to be serious, but also caring about others wellbeing. Though, she may occasionally overreact at times if she felt annoyed or threatened She has purple hair and brown eyes, and her outfit is that of a japanese student. Tsutsumi is a student who loves cats despite being allergic to them, as shown when she attempted to rescue a cat from a tree despite her inability to climb. Her allergic reaction serves as a warning system to detect when cats are nearby. She has short blonde hair, blue eyes and wears a yellow hoodie. Arata is a extremely athletic man with ninja hobby who likes to parkour and perform various tricks. This make him a very important teammate to the team as he often acts as a major distraction for the horde of cats, while evading or deterring cats using his tricks, his most iconic tool of choice for his ninja tricks is a grappling hook in order to pull himself up. He is generally charismatic and enthuastic, and is shown to be very intelligent and clever as he can act fast in heated situation while being generally fearless. Arata was first found when he fell off the collapsing cliff while searching around, narrowly saving himself with the hook. However he realized he can't pull himself up and the cat underneath is waiting for him as the hook starts slipping off. He accepted the fate of being a cat while thinking about his last moments about dating a cute girl who would like his ninja hobby, just to be saved by Kunagi at very last second. Arata has greenish spiky hairstyle, wears a cone hat with various stickers on it and wears a vest with cat bowl on it. Underneath his outfit, he keeps alot of "gadgets", that being assortment of tools, cat toys or deterrant.

Len is the oldest son of the family trio. He worked alongside his Dad, Kouji, and his brother, Masaki. They initially went missing after visiting a mall infested by cats. He has a yellow spiky hair with brown eyes, a white shirt and dark blue jeans. He can also seen wearing a yellow shirt with paw shapes underneath and using a extra shirt tied on his waist. Len wields dual yellow crocodile shaped water gun as his signature "weapon". Due of being completely overwhelmed by cats, they are forced to take shelter in storage room. But unfortunately, their dad got infected trying to buy them time to escape. He and Masaki was found hiding in a storage room by the main trio who are guided by a green furred Rex Devon cat, surviving on snacks within it. Masaki is the second son of the family trio, he works alongside his dad, Kouji, and his brother, Len to gather supplies. They initially went missing when going to a mall to gather supplies. Masaki has black long hair covering one of his eyes and blue eyes, and wears black coat and pants with green shirt. Masaki wields dual blue dolphin shaped pistol as his signature "weapon" He and Len are forced to take shelter in the storage room after being completely overwhelmed by cats, but unfortunately their dad got infected trying to buy them time to escape. Masaki and Len was found in the storage surviving on the snacks within the storage room by the trio who are led by a green furred Devon Rex cat. Tanishi is a man with cheerful personality and is the frequent visitor of the cat cafe, often shows great interest in it. Tanishi also seem to have a interest in one particular calico cat in the cafe, as shown when he frequently interact with it. However, in one faithful day after the Nyandemic, he failed to escape the horde of cats (presumably due of the fact his ankle is sprained at the time after a car crash while trying to avoid hitting the cats) and eventually become one of them, although he is not hostile towards the duo after finding his way to them and even attempted to show trust by showing his belly, the duo leave him behind anyway. His fate remains unknown afterwards. Tanishi is a muscular man with light stubble beard, red mohawk and always wears a pair of goggles, he wore a white shirt with green pants and boots. As a cat, he is presumably a british shorthair that has yellow eyes and orange fur with stripes all over his body and white underbelly. Tanishi also kept his goggles, whether he intentionally brought it with him or simply don't care enough to discard it is unknown. Tanishi also show up in the cover for both the first volume of the manga and anime, depicting him as a cat or being turned by large group of cats. Gaku is a cat cafe employee who works alongside his sister, Kaoru, and Kunagi. He is usually the one who serves the food and drinks to the customer Gaku has purple eyes and a short beard and wears white shirt with yellow cat apron and dark blue jeans. He is a man who had a charismatic personality, who shows friendly attitude to the customer and sometimes give cat related advices alongside Kunagi and Kaoru when the time is right, stating that taking care of cats is not as easy as one may think. However, he can be extremely angry if someone break a rule in the cafe, as shown when he knocks out Tanishi and angrily states that cologne is not allowed near cats. During the initial nyandemic, he was one of the first victim of the nyandemic. Being infected by his cat who came into contact with the origin cat while attempting to evacuate everyone out of the cafe. He attempted to slow down the cats to give everyone a time to escape while on the run with his remaining humanity once he starts showing physical signs, happily embracing what will become of him.
