Synopsis

Toua Tokuchi, a master of gambling and mind games, holds the remarkable record of 499 wins and zero losses in "One Outs," a simplified form of baseball that consists of only a batter and a pitcher. Visiting Okinawa, Tokuchi's hometown, is Hiromichi Kojima, the star batter of the Saikyou Saitama Lycaons, the weakest team in the Japanese baseball league. Dreaming of leading the Lycaons to winning the championship, and in dire need of a replacement for their injured pitcher during a training camp, Kojima involves himself in a game of One Outs, only to lose to a normal fastball from the seemingly invincible Tokuchi. Mesmerized by his prowess, Kojima recruits Tokuchi to the team after narrowly avoiding defeat in a rematch, believing he might just be their key to victory. However, the greedy owner of the Lycaons refuses to give him a decent salary, leading Tokuchi to suggest an unusual contract: every out he pitches will gain him five million yen, but every run he gives up will lose him fifty million yen. Tokuchi Toua is the main character of One Outs series. He is a successful gambler and a pitcher in the gambling game based on baseball called “One Outs”. After losing a game of One Outs for the first time to the Lycaons' cleanup batter (Hiromichi Kojima), he joins the Lycaons team with an odd contract – the “One Outs Contract” – that decides Toua's pay based on his performance. Arguably, the most fearsome trait of Tokuchi is his perceptive intellect, which he uses to manipulate professional baseball. As a baseball pitcher, he psychologically manipulates and intimidates the batters he faces along with playing high-stakes psychological and intellectual battles against his own antagonistic team owner, competing team coaches, and underhanded opposing teams. As the Lycaons' famed star pitcher, he can pitch entire games without giving up a single hit. Tokuchi's most important skill is probably his ability to “seemingly read minds”. Tokuchi is able to observe his opponent and throwing the according pitch, that will completely defy all his batters expectations, making almost impossible to hit Tokuchi's ball. Age: 43 Kojima is the cleanup batter in the professional baseball team, Saikyou Saitama Lycaons. He is defeated by Toua during his time at the training camp as he challenged Toua to avenge his relief pitcher, Nakane. After his defeat, he goes into the forest to train himself mentally against Toua but as he is training he injures his wrist. Even with the injury he challenges Toua to a rematch with the bet that if he wins, he takes Toua's hand.
