Synopsis

Both in appearance and personalities, twin sisters Ageha and Hana Mizuki could not be any more different from each other. Separated at birth until second grade, Ageha had grown up in the countryside, being raised by her grandmother, while Hana lived in the city with their parents. Due to their contrasting upbringings, the quiet and reserved Ageha constantly lives in the shadow of her outgoing and charismatic sister. During her childhood, Ageha befriended a boy named Ryuusei Koike and has been in love with him since. When she moved back in with her parents, the two lost contact with each other, but she was surprised to see him again in high school. Even so, she cannot bring herself to talk to him, much less confess her love for him. Seeing her woes, a mysterious man tells Ageha if she proclaims her love out loud, then Ryuusei will surely return her feelings. Thinking he is delusional, Ageha humors the idea, only for Ryuusei to enter the room and remember their childhood together. Their reunion is short-lived, however, when Hana decides to swoop in and steal Ryuusei from Ageha out of jealousy. Just when she loses hope of ever being with him, the stranger from before reappears, promising to help Ageha take Ryuusei back. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Publication notes

Papillon: Hana to Chou was partially published in English as Papillon by Del Rey, who published the first six volumes from October 14, 2008 to November 23, 2010 before becoming defunct. Volumes five and six were combined into a single volume. The series has been published in French by Pika Édition, and in Italian by Star Comics.

We first see Kyuu hiding from some girls, and sneaks into a festival shop where Ageha is working alone. He brings up many crazy ideas and if she needs any boy help when he sees a picture of a boy with her in it. He doodle on it hearts and love quotes, and tells her to go after her dreams. Which, does in fact help Ageha. Later it is shown he is quite a flirt to her, and even helped Ageha down when she was in stress. It is shown that Kyuu really does matter to her, in a friendly-way. Ageha is the shy protagonist of this manga. She considers herself unattractive and less beautiful than her twin sister Hana. She shows small jealousy towards her sisters popularity, and has a huge crush upon her childhood friend in the country, Ryuusei. However Hana steals him away from Ageha first when they are on a date. Ageha seems to have a friendly like for Kyuu since he has seemed to help her a lot with her situation. No voice actors have been added to this character. Hana is Ageha's twin sister. Ageha defines her sister Hana as the better looking one, and very popular. They look very identical, but Hana wears more make-up and curls her hair. She has many guys that like her and she shows off to them. Ageha and Hana have an okay relationship, until Hana cracks and she can't have her sister Ageha being happy. She shows up on her sister's date with Ryuusei, and steals him away. Later Hana and Ryuusei began dating. The reason why Hana wants to take all of Ageha's love intrests is known in later chapters, "I can't stand seeing her happy!" No voice actors have been added to this character.
