Synopsis

At a business meeting, 26-year-old Tsugumi Kawana faces the biggest surprise in her life: she is reunited with Itsuki Ayukawa, a former high school friend and her first love. She is elated that Ayukawa has been able to achieve his dream of becoming an architect, while she herself has secured a stable job at an interior design company. As they reminisce about the past, Tsugumi is shocked to find out Ayukawa has been disabled following an accident. Unable to walk on his own, he now has to rely on the use of a wheelchair. Tsugumi knows that dating a disabled person is a complex matter; moreso, she does not want to ruin her friendship with Ayukawa, who refuses to be romantically involved with anyone. Perfect World won the 43th Kodansha Manga Award in the shoujo category in 2019. The series has been published digitally in English by Kodansha Comics USA from March 20, 2018 to July 5, 2022, and in print from April 18, 2022 to July 12, 2022. It was published in French by Akata from October 16, 2016 to May 27, 2021; in German by Egmont Manga & Anime from May 3, 2018 to November 5, 2021; in Italian by Star Comics from March 8, 2019 to September 22, 2021; in Indonesian by m&c!; and in Spanish by ECC Ediciones and Panini Comics. Perfect World was adapted into a film which premiered on October 18, 2018. It was later re-adapted into a Japanese television drama that aired on Fuji TV and Kansai TV from April 16, 2019 to June 25, 2019.
