Synopsis
Set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion. Publication notes
San Ti began serialization in the science fiction magazine Science Fiction World in May 2006 until December 2006. The first volume was published in print by Chongqing Publishing House in January 2008. It was published in English as the Remembrance of Earth's Past series by Tor Books from November 11, 2014, to September 19, 2016. The English-translation of the first volume won a Hugo Award in 2015, and the third volume was nominated for a Hugo Award in 2017. The series was published in French by Actes Sud from October 5, 2016, to October 10, 2018; in German by Heyne from December 12, 2016, to April 8, 2019; and in Spanish by Ediciones B from November 2, 2016, to August 21, 2018. The series has been adapted into a live-action television series that aired from January 15 to February 3, 2023. An American live-action adaptation titled 3 Body Problem premiered on Netflix on March 21, 2024.
