Synopsis

Chihiro Furuya possesses a strange obsession for the undead. Most remarkably, he is only romantically interested in female zombies. Due to the recent accidental death of his pet cat Baabu, Chihiro's craze is accentuated, and he decides to brew an elixir of reanimation. However, Chihiro fails to find the correct combination of ingredients to produce the solution, causing him to give up and opt to bury Baabu instead. But before he can, Chihiro becomes acquainted with the wealthy and alluring Rea Sanka, who encourages him to continue trying. And so, upon mixing the poisonous hydrangea flower with his concoction, Chihiro successfully creates the elixir. Not realizing that he succeeded, Rea attempts to put an end to her miserable and restrained life by drinking the elixir she thought would poison her. But after actually dying in a fatal accident, the elixir shows its effect, and Rea is resurrected as a zombie. Now liberated from her oppressive life, Rea moves in with Chihiro, who will now have to utilize his knowledge of the undead to care for the adolescent female zombie. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Age: 15-16 Height: 161 cm (5'3") School: Sanka Girls' High School Class: First Year Student Rea steals and drinks some of the zombie potion made by Chihiro in an attempt to commit suicide because of the sheltered life she lives. She fails in the attempt but she resurrects as zombie when she accidentally falls of a cliff and dies. As a zombie, she lives together with Chihiro in order to know how it feels to become free from her father's chains. Rea is friendly with everyone at the shrine, including Darin despite her intentions to use Rea as a research subject. She calls Mero by Mero-Chan similar to that of Mero's mother which causes Mero great discomfort at first. Similarly, she calls Darin with the -Chan suffix to Darin's discontent. She likes Chihiro and feels like she is bothering or interrupting Chihiro and Ranko's relationship. She seems to understand Bābu. She's also physically strong as her body is no longer restrained by her brain as a result of her death.

She used to be professor Boil's assistant. Little is known about her and she spends her stay at the shrine in the basement carrying out her research. She often harasses Furuya and Rea for information about zombification, as much to her despair she is bewildered as to how Rea is able to maintain her condition. As a child, she was daughter to a researcher and spent most of her time around other zombies which lead to her apathetic and anti-social nature. Because of this, she sees zombies as the only friends she'll ever need.
