Synopsis

Ken Kurosawa, also known, unfortunately, as Double K. Ken is a savvy street thug with a heart of gold. While he may be a crook, all his earnings go to caring for his ailing sister, Mariko. But Ken's rubbed the wrong people the wrong way and dies rather horrifically in a car bomb. As with Al Simmons, who is referenced several times in this first volume, Double K makes a deal with the devil. He'll trade his soul just to be with his sister again. As with any deal with such nefarious creatures, Ken finds himself "alive" again seven years later. Dressed in a bizarre costume and sporting incredible power, Ken has a new role to fulfill, that of a Hellspawn. A number of questions are raised about Double K's purpose as a Hellspawn and the possible redemption of the wicked. But like the original Spawn the questions are left unanswered in favor of action and comedy. (Source: MU)

Ken Kurosawa, a Japanese-American, is a street thug who hires himself out for money in order to care for his younger sister Mariko, who is very sick. He was known by the nickname Double K. After promising his sister to be with her for her birthday, Ken is murdered by clients. Seven years later, Ken is brought back as a Hellspawn. (It is heavily implied that Ken returned to Earth at the exact same time as did Al Simmons, as many events parallel events in the original comic). Like Al Simmons, Kurosawa initially has no memories, and is confronted almost immediately after awakening by the Clown. Clown briefly leaves the manga, replaced by a faerie-like creature calling herself Beelzebub. He returns as the Violator. The new Spawn, living in California, holes up in an abandoned church. He discovers his sister has overcome her illness and is slowly becoming a Hollywood teen actress. His greatest desire is to protect her. Ironically, she is now the target of many supernatural creatures because of that very desire. No voice actors have been added to this character.
