About this title
Synopsis
Shakugan no Shana X: Eternal Song is based on the events of the tenth Shana novel. The events in Eternal Song focus on the events of the Great War, with a certain focus on the lives of two Flame Haze, the previous "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter" Mathilde Saint-Omer and "Manipulator of Objects" Wilhelmina Carmel. They were famous as the counterpart of the Crimson Lord duo called as "Pair of Wings" ("Rainbow Wings" Merihim and "Iron-clad Dragon" Illuyanka). Their adventure starts in the middle of the Great War, an event of great turmoil between Crimson Denizens and Flame Haze and a period of great activity between the two factions. Main characters
Wilhelmina Carmel199 fan favoritesExternal profileA young lady that wears a maid's uniform all the time. She is bound to Tiamat, whose will resides in the divine vessel Jinki Persona, which shifts forms between a headband, and a mask when in battle. She is one of the great Flame Haze from the age of the great war, fighting alongside her friend, Mathilde Saint-Omer (the previous "Slayer with Flaming Hair and Blazing Eyes"). Her ability is the power to control an infinite number of ribbons which appear from around her. Wilhelmina, who always speaks in an overly formal and polite manner, has nearly no expression. Mathilde Saint-Omer6 fan favoritesExternal profileThe previous owner of the title "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter," she is shown in the flashbacks leading to the ceremony of Shana's ascent as a Flame Haze. She was Wilhelmina Carmel's friend and companion. They were together regarded as the greatest pair, rivaling the "Pair of Wings," a counterpart of the Crimson Lords Merihim and Illuyanka. Mathilde's primary abilities are the same as Shana's, as they both possess the title "Flame-Haired Red-Hot-Eyed Hunter"; the ability to summon flames and use it to empower their weapons. Aside from this, Mathilde can use her abilities as the Flame Haze of "Flame of Heaven" Alastor to summon a flaming horse which she rides whenever she and Wilhelmina Carmel travel. She also uses the Unrestricted Spell "Knights" to summon an army of armored warriors which she uses to defeat a large number of opponents. This Spell can also be used with another, called "Hajoutsuchi" which summons a large battering ram. One of her most powerful attacks, "Vorpal Phalanx," strengthens her attack by utilizing "Knights" to pierce the area where the attack occurs, allowing Mathilde to cleave through stronger opponents. Merihim3 fan favoritesExternal profileThe Lord who disguises and is known to Shana as Shiro, the skeleton-formed being who was her teacher in combat and sword fights in her training to succeed the title of "Enpatsu Shakugan no Uchite" (Slayer with Flaming Hair and Blazing Eyes). In a war during medieval times, he once crossed swords with the previous holder of the title, Mathilde Saint-Omer. Wilhemina Carmel, Mathilde's best comrade, loved him, but Merihim instead fell for Mathilde and challenged her to a fight where the loser would comply with the winner's every bidding. He, however, lost to her and Mathilde asked him to aid in the training of a worthy Flame Haze who would succeed her in the contract with Alastor, knowing she would soon die. Since then he has assumed the form of Shiro and worked with Wilhemina and Alastor to raise Shana. He disappeared after Shana successfully acceded to Mathilde's title.
