First appearance: Battle 1 Age: 17 Type: Sei (also shown Dou-Type traits) Type: Katsujin Ken Martial Arts: Kenichi's Fighting Style (hybrid of Karate, Jujutsu, Chinese Kenpo, Muay Thai, Kosaka Style (Weapons), and Furinji Style) Shirahama Kenichi is good-natured, timid and polite person in his second year of high school who loves gardening and reading books. Kenichi was frequently treated as a friendless loser at the beginning of the series, however it all changed when he met Furinji Miu. After the fateful meeting, he decided to stand for himself and be truly strong; or at least, strong enough to protect those who are dear to him. Though he's constantly considered cowardly at the beginning of the series, he shows that when his loved ones lives are on the line, he's actually much braver than he appears. On his way to school one day Kenichi met Miu once again (though he did not recognize her) and the two soon became friends. Kenichi was a member of the school's karate club but was forced to do menial chores and was used as a punching bag until one day he stood up to a hulking student who tried to force him to quit and the two agreed to a match in which the loser will be forced to quit the club. With Miu's help he managed to win but quit the club anyway and drew unwanted attention from the club's president whom he fought twice managing an easy win the second time due to training he received at the Ryozanpaku dojo. However the trouble does not end for Kenichi as the club president had ties to a rising delinquent group known as Ragnarok who begin to take an interest in Kenichi. The manga follows Kenichi as he continues to train at, and eventually live at the Ryozanpaku dojo as well as facing increasingly more powerful foes. Though it is consistently stated that Kenichi has no talent for martial arts he more than makes up for it with his work ethic. It is due to this and the abnormally intense training regime he is forced to endure that Kenichi has gone from being considered the weakest student in his high school to being able to fight and defeat opponents with many years worth of skill as well as some with borderline superhuman abilities. Kenichi is kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and moral to a fault. He is against violence and only studies martial arts to protect others, and also adheres to a strict code of morals and refuses to kill or hit women even if it means death. In spite of his strong moral standards however Kenichi can be quite perverted as he will jump at the chance to see Miu or Shigure bathing and also buys pictures of them from Ma (though these pictures are mostly fakes). He also adopted a "fighting style" from Ma called "ecchi mode" in which he attempts to grope women which strangely enough has actually helped him get out of a jam before. As a result of his kindness Kenichi has made many friends some of whom are former enemies and has even managed to unknowingly win the affections of Ma Renka and Li Raichi. (Source: Wikipedia)

First appearance: Battle 66 Age: 17 Type: Sei Type: Katsujin Ken Martial Arts: Chinese Kenpo Ma Renka is Kensei’s 17-year-old daughter. She came to Japan in search of her father, who she planned to take back to China. Renka is a fair-skinned young girl of average size. She has bright blue eyes and upper-back-length navy hair constantly done up in an intricate braiding; it has two separate strands on each side of her head and one in the back (similar to cat ears and a tail), and and chin-length bangs hanging over her eyes with sideburns looping up her jaw. Similar to Miu, she sports a noticeably curvaceous frame and large bust (about the same size as Miu). Renka tends to wear rather revealing Chinese dresses, even at times appearing rather skimpy, that draw attention to her breasts and legs and they even tend to be rather skimpy, suggesting she doesn't have much modesty. She also wears a bell behind each ear. At first she treats Kenichi with disdain at first, but soon took a strong liking to Kenichi and showed this openly. This "strong liking" later became "strong love", even though she denies it. She is constantly vying with Miu for his attention. This greatly annoyed Miu, possibly even making her feel jealous, which was alleviated by Renka behaving in a catlike manner which Miu has a soft spot for, with is something of a running gag with her and Miu and Nanjou Kisara. Kisara has a soft spot for her because of the cat bells also. She began to acknowledge Kenichi's style of martial arts after her visit to the the dojo, and later gives him advice on developing his own fighting style. She comes off rather tomboyish and is very hostile towards strangers, such as attacking anyone she is not familiar with or she considers her enemy and even attacking Kenichi due to her not being familiar with him and originally believing him to be weak. She has a strong devotion towards her family, such as wanting to kill her own uncle due to him being the disgrace of the Ma family. She's very forceful, going as far as to use any means to force her father to come home with her. There's a running gag that she has a habit of chasing moving things, such as when Kenichi surprised her for being in front of her. She is still friendly and caring towards her friends and family, but will be forceful towards them if she wishes (though she calms down when Kenichi asks her to and acts very hyper when he does ask). She tends to be a flirt around Kenichi and tries to win him over Miu and the both are considered rivals due to their feelings for Kenichi. With her father, she's annoyed by his perverted nature and usually puts him in his place and reminds him of his responsibilities at home. Despite this, she loves her father very much.

First appearance: Battle 48 Type: Sei Type: Katsujin Ken Martial Arts: Karate (especially utilizes the Spear Hand that uses Tame) Loki was the former Fourth Fist of Ragnarok but is now a spy for the Shinpaku Alliance. He uses a Karate style that involves using all the joints in his arms. Besides being a powerful fighter, he is also quite intelligent, using information about his opponents to his advantage. Despite his strength, Loki prefers to win by using any means necessary: he kidnaps Honoka after learning that she is Kenichi's sister, despite Hermit's protests. His ultimate goal is unknown, but it seems that he wanted to destroy Ragnarok from the inside, planting seeds of doubt among the Eight Fists in order to disorient the gang. Niijima states that both he and Loki follow the "Art of Evil", which is why Loki uses dirty methods to win. Loki first "appears" using one of his "shadows" to meet with Niijima and to destroy Shinpaku Alliance. His thugs soon surround Niijima and his common soldiers and gang up on them, though are defeated when Kenichi, Takeda, and Ukita burst in and join the fray. Loki is then seen talking with Siegfried about Shinpaku, and quickly spots Niijima, who was spying on the two at the time. He allows Siegfried to chase Niijima and arranges for Niijima's deportation on a cargo ship. He orders his common thugs to attack Kenichi and Miu, who try to save Niijima, though does not participate in the battle himself. Loki then meets up with Hermit and kidnaps Honoka, using Kensei's name to quiet the protest from Hermit and order the latter around. During Kenichi's battle with Hermit, Loki threatens Kenichi to stop while he orders Number 20 to hold a knife to Honoka and Hermit to attack Kenichi, all the while detailing Hermit's past that led up to his entrance into the world of martial arts. When Hermit refuses, Loki steps into battle himself and attacks Kenichi, while his plans are ruined with Hermit saving Honoka. The battle ends harshly for him as Odin breaks his goggles and chastises him for haphazardly dropping Kensei-sama's name, forcing Loki to retreat. Later, Loki corners Niijima with a wall of his "shadows" blocking Niijima's exit from the warehouse, Loki manages to put Shinpaku to its own standstill, though the common Ragnarok forces are unable to catch Niijima. Loki uses this as an opportunity to blame Odin for Ragnarok's recent troubles and unveils his New Eight Fists to replace the old Eight Fists that Ragnarok lost, allowing himself to be ranked second to Berserker. However, he and his replacement Fists are quickly defeated by Berserker, who shows no interest of leading any gang. In Battle 306, Loki is seen sending information about Yomi to Niijima, who he appears to be working with to gather information. It is said that Loki is afraid of Yomi.

First appearance: Battle 71 Type: Dou Type: Katsujin Ken Martial Arts: Weapons Number 20 is Loki's underling, and later becomes a spy for the Shinpaku Alliance with him. Like her master, 20 is very underhanded and resorts to any methods in order to win, even hurting innocent children like Honoka. It is also implied that she has romantic feelings for Loki, despite his occasional mistreatment of her. Number 20 is a young woman with short unkempt brown hair and a fairly endowed figure. She is normally seen in a yellow A-shirt and suspenders and has a type of goggles on with night vision seekers on it and has an air machine gun with her. She also seems to have some type of markings on her body that are green that seem to be camo make-up. She first appears during Loki and Siegfried's abduction of Niijima in order to break up the Shinpaku Alliance. Nijima, who overhears their plot, grabs 20's breasts to escape but is still captured by Siegfried. She later fights Miu on a truck driven by Number 43 and gains the advantage with her gun and prong. However, Miu got up due to her training and gave her a well desired punch in the stomach, defeating her. She later takes Kenichi's sister Honoka hostage and threatens to kill her if Kenichi attempts to fight back against Loki. This continued until Tanimoto Natsu knocks her out and rescues Honoka, allowing Kenichi to defeat Loki. In the final battle with the Shinpaku and Ragnarok, she aids Loki and his new eight fists in his attempted coup d'état, but they are defeated by Berserker, after which they disappear for the remainder of the battle.
