Synopsis

The virtual world of OZ has taken Japan by storm. Constructing an avatar in this real-world simulation grants users access to a wide range of features—from playing games to processing legal documents. Due to its overall convenience, OZ's popularity has skyrocketed since its inception and has been deemed the world's greatest communication tool. Introverted OZ moderator Kenji Koiso had decided to devote his summer vacation to overseeing the system's maintenance. However, he changes his mind after being invited to accompany fellow student Natsuki Shinohara to her family's residence, where the Jinnouchi clan is gathering for the impending 90th birthday celebration of her great-grandmother. Upon their arrival, Natsuki introduces Kenji as her fiancé, which comes as a shock to both himself and her great-grandmother. While struggling to keep up with the actions of his crush, he receives an anonymous text. Enticed by the complexity of its encryption, he decodes the message and sends a response—unknowingly bringing about a great catastrophe for OZ that will have dire consequences. A 13 year old Oz user and one of Natsuki's cousins. On Oz, he is known as King Kazuma. He is famous on there for being an excellent fighter in the Martial Arts Championship. He refers to Oz's fighting games as not being a game, but a sport. He says that he “likes the fighting and winning, but not the gaming part.” He assists in helping Kenji with the fight against Love Machine. When he lost the first battle against Love Machine, many people sent him hate messages for not winning. His Oz avatar is a white rabbit wearing a red vest, jeans, goggles around the neck, and white and red gloves. Kazuma later on gives his avatar a haircut similar to his except blond to show his dedication to defeating Love Machine. Kazuma secludes himself in his room most of the time. He used to be very weak before learning Shaolin Kung Fu from his grandfather, whom he refers to as “master.” He sees Kenji's braveness as an inspiration. Kazuma wears a tank top and shorts, and is usually seen with a laptop.

Wabisuke had long been estranged from their family and returned after selling off his program to the U.S military. The U.S. military had chosen to test the efficacy of the Love Machine on Oz. When the rest of the family learns of this, they are understandably upset and angry at Wabisuke.
