Synopsis

Ghost Talker's Daydream is tells the story of Misaki Saiki, a young woman with a troubled past, who is a professional dominatrix in one of Tokyo's most exclusive S&M clubs. However, her real money is something she likes even less than being a dominatrix. Ever since childhood, Misaki has had the ability to see and communicate with ghosts, and that talent is put to use by the Livelihood Protection Agency, who pairs Misaki with Souichirou Kadotake, a martial artist who happens to be deathly afraid of ghosts. Using her gifts, Misaki is able to help troubled departed spirits resolve what is troubling them and allow them to move on to the afterlife. Misaki Saiki's a very lonely girl. An albino, she was sent over at a young age to live with her father and grandmother. She also had to suffer the taunts of other children because of her unusual appearance. When she got older, she got a job as a dominatrix in one of Tokyo's most notorious S&M clubs. Misaki is used to the various perversions of the male clients she runs into, and is well-trained in how to satisfy their needs. However, this also brings her share of obsessed fans who try to seek her out and stalk her... especially Mitsuru Fujiwara, who constantly sends her text messages on her cell phone. But a lot of the time, people seek Misaki out because of her ability to talk with the dead. She often works with the city as an exorcist, helping out distressed spirits into going on to the afterlife. She often works with Souichiro Kadotake of the Livelihood Preservation Group, who just happens to be afraid of ghosts, so he's not much help. Working as a professional dominatrix wasn't in Misaki's plan of life, but she doesn't see being a professional medium any different. Because she's an albino, Misaki usually limits her exposure to direct sunlight because of her fair skin. She also has bad eyesight... not to mention the unusual quirk of being born not having any pubic hair, which can be a turn-on to some of her professional clients, but can cause others to be freaked out if they caught a glimpse of her naked crotch. Ai Kunugi sought out Misaki Saiki's help some time after her sister had committed suicide following the accidental murder of her infant niece. The baby's death was blamed on the mother, but Ai knew it was her sister's boyfriend, a yakuza boss named Kago, who was the one responsible. However, after the incident, Ai soon found out that, like Misaki, she too had the ability to see and communicate with the dead. A very brave girl, Ai often looks up to Misaki, hoping to be as strong as her. Misaki, on the other hand, would rather have the girl ignore the many deceased spirits that Ai often encounters. It is any wonder why Souichiro Kadotake would even want to work for the Livelihood Preservation Agency. For a mysteriously heavily-funded agency that specializes in exorcising ghosts, Souichiro has distinguished himself by being absolutely terrified of ghosts. In fact, the medium whose contact he is – Misaki Saiki – has to virtually haul his body inside a supposedly haunted house. And whenever she's in a hurry to get to the S&M club she works at, Misaki sometimes uses Souichiro's car to change into her fetish leathers, often distracting Souichiro while he drives... the end result usually being a minor accident. However, as scared as he is with ghosts, Souichiro is the opposite when facing the living... especially hoods and yakuza punks. Souichiro is an excellent martial artist, and is capable of crippling... or if he wanted to, killing whoever attacks him. He especially finds punks who attack him from behind disgusting, and will often deal with them as such. Because he often dresses in the manner of your average Japanese salaryman, Souichiro is often underestimated. But his fighting skills are useless when faced with Misaki... mostly because he is intimidated by her, even when he drags the often-reluctant Misaki to ghost-hunting assignments.
