Synopsis

All through middle school, Touto was the tough kid that people either fought, feared, or avoided. Resolving that his high school life will be different, he studied hard and entered a prestigious high school. Despite his harsh demeanor and odd behavior, he manages to make two friends right off the bat, two hopeful students who are also trying to recreate themselves. Timid Miyakoe, who is interested in the occult, was always overlooked in middle school, and she wants her presence to matter in high school. Chubby Yuta wants to erase his school history of being constantly bullied. Everything is going well until Miyakoe disappears while investigating a scary school myth. Going after her, Yuta and Touto encounter a dangerous cellphone monster! When all seems lost, Touto's cellphone-strap good-luck charm comes to life to give him the strength to defend his new friends. One of the main protagonists of the story, Kyou is never seen without the guitar on her back. She is pretty melancholy and serious looking but can be seen smiling occasionally. Kyou, just like Touto, is also in a possession of a small good luck charm thing she calls Taro and who, together with her trusty guitar, can also turn into a huge wolf-like beast to fend off adversaries. Not much is known about her, besides the fact that she's often late for class - Touto calls her 'Tardy Girl' - and she has a friendly and easy-going relationship with Taro. Miyakoe is also one of the characters who had chosen the prestigious high school to reinvent her own image and start a new high school life. She was often ignored and overlooked in middle school, thus always ending up alone and being unable to make friends with anyone. She is interested in all things occult and mysterious and is adamant to create a Mystery Club in her new high school, automatically recruiting an unwilling Yuta and an indifferent Touto as members. She also adds Kyou to the group later as their 'informant'. She's usually kind and friendly but can get overly enthusiastic and scary when it comes to mysteries and high school myths. She's usually seen with Yuta and Touto and ironically, doesn't believe Touto whenever he says he has experienced something paranormal. No voice actors have been added to this character. A small and chubby boy who has been bullied in middle school because of his height and weight. Wanting to escape from the bullies and his troubled middle school past, he also enters the prestigious high school with Touto and Miyakoe and befriends both. Yuta is usually kind and nice but gets frightened easily, especially when Miyakoe starts talking about scary ghost stories. He's good at remembering his classmates' names and is generally good at academics. He often gets dragged by Miyakoe to go ghost hunting, a feat he's absolutely not thrilled about. The protagonist of the story who has been feared all through middle school because of his sharp features and demeanor even though he is actually a pretty nice and decent guy. He studied hard to enter a prestigious high school and start anew and to find the person who has given him a good-luck charm in the shape of a cellphone strap. While investigating one of the school myths, he gets attacked by a monster but in that moment, his cellphone good-luck charm comes to life and reveals itself as Frivelen, the Goblin of the Brave Horn Clan. From that moment, Touto's high school life becomes even more interesting than he had imagined. With Frivelen's help, he can summon a weapon called 'Candy Coil' that he can alter at will to fight his opponents, known as 'Folklores'. Touto is a bit socially awkward and finds it hard to memorize his classmates' names. He often makes plans and missions to better adapt to his new high school life and make friends. Taro is a small stuffed animal that Kyou carries with her. He is, just like Frivelen, able to transform into a huge wolf-like beast to fight his opponents. His full name is Cerberus Grendy and he comes from the Zoi Wolf Fang Clan. He cares about Kyou a lot and is very disgruntled and worried when she goes missing on one of their folklore hunting missions. He is also easily touched and cries upon hearing sad stories but as an opponent, he is very strong and capable. He and Frivelen share mutual rivalry and often clash and pick on each other.
