He vowed to devote his life to the Buddha, but faltered when laying eyes on a beautiful chigo (servant boy used for sex) whom he named Byakoumaru. When the boy succumbed to illness, the priest refused to accept it and spent many days with the body; the villagers had heard that the Priest was caught eating the flesh of the corpse, having turned into a demon. After Shotaro recklessly grabs her and praises her beauty, she becomes so infatuated with him that she demands to marry him, against the wishes of her family and the result of their divinations. Once they are wed, Isora refuses to let anyone else tend to Shotaro, insisting that it is her duty. Despite being part of the aristocracy, Isora accepts the ways of living of the Izawa family, doing intense physical chores without complaint. She claims that her sole goal is to be a good wife to Shotaro, leaving behind the koto, writing poetry, and singing. Even when Shotaro is found to have been living at a brothel for months, she takes him back without hesitation. Eventually, she succumbs to the hatred, admitting that she loathes Shotaro. She dies and becomes a vengeful spirit, haunting Shotaro and Sode. No voice actors have been added to this character. Although he hails from a family of warriors and land-workers, and the family currently live in abundance, Shotaro is renowned to be impulsive and lazy, and to waste his time gambling and visiting brothels. Once they get married, Shotaro quickly falls back into his old ways and elopes with Sode, his childhood friend and a prostitute he lived with for awhile. Once they run out of the money he had taken from Isora, Shotaro callously asking Sode to abort the pregnancy and resume prostitution in order to support them.
