Synopsis

Unknown to her classmates, Yukina Himuro is secretly the popular cell phone novelist Yupina. What they do know, however, is her cold demeanor and icy glare—earning her the nickname "Absolute Zero Snow Woman"—so they tend to avoid her. But as of late, Yukina has run into a bit of a snag with her writing: her ratings have gone down, so she wants to incorporate romance to bring them back up. And since Yukina has no experience with love, she cannot properly convey it in her writing. While seeking to change this, she runs into popular and charming student council president Shigure Kitami. During said encounter, he drops his notebook, and, to Yukina's surprise, she finds the names of the girls who have confessed to Shigure inside. She discovers that he uses his charm to manipulate girls into confessing their love for him just so he can reject them, and that his real personality is nothing like the one he shows to the world. Confronting Shigure with this information, she develops a plan: to blackmail him into teaching her about love. But when Yukina's cousin and only friend, Akira Shimotsuki, becomes jealous and confesses his love to her, Yukina may find herself with more help for these "missions of love" than she asked for. Watashi ni xx Shinasai! won the 36th Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga in 2012 and was listed in the New York Times best seller list twice for two different volumes. In 2011, the manga's circulation was reported to reach 2 million. The series was published in English as Missions of Love by Kodansha Comics USA from November 6, 2012 to December 10, 2019.

Yukina Himuro has always been feared by other students in her classes because of her sharp eyes and cold skin temperature. She is secretly a cell phone novelist by the name of "Yupina", whose cell phone novel made it very popular, that is until Yukina hears from two other girls that her novels are getting boring due to the lack of "romance". Worried about her novel, Yukina doesn't know what to do until, the famous student council president Shigure Kitami comes along and accidentally drops his student handbook. Yukina picks it up to give it back to him, but when she sees what is inside, she finds out that he writes the names of the girls in his classes, when they confessed. She then comes up with the idea to blackmail him to "love act" with her for her novel. She has a fear of being seen directly without her glasses; a fear in which Shigure Kitami uses once, leaving Yukina alone and allowing her to be surrounded by other girls and frightening her. Shigure Kitami is the student body president and the most popular guy in school. His father is the director of a big hospital. He owns a student notebook that lists every girl in his 9th grade class and puts checks next to each girl that confesses their love to him and also writes the method they used to confess to him and he turns them down each and every time. One day he drops this notebook and Yukina Himuro, the heroine of the story, finds it, and uses it to blackmail him into teaching her about love to help her write her cell phone novel. In the novel, he is the Count. Yukina uses Shigure by giving him "missions", like holding her hand, embracing her, and step-by-step, a relationship starts. Shigure hates the missions given to him by Yukina in the beginning, and tells her that he'd never fall in love with her, but several times he attempts to kiss her because he does not enjoy watching Akira Shimotsuki, Yukina's cousin, steal her away. Their missions are interrupted by the sudden appearance of Mami Mizuno, Shigure's childhoood friend who Shigure seems to be close to. In the first few chapters, Shigure never showed much interest in Yukina but jealous reactions to Akira and Yukina's relationship indicate that he really does like her and wants to be romantically involved with her. Akira Shimotsuki is Himuro Yukina's cousin. His parents died in a fatal accident when he was still a young child. He seemes to have a strong devotion towards his cousin Yukina because his life was saved by Yukina when he almost got hit by a car right after he heard his parents were no longer coming home. Akira is one of the only people who knows that Yukina is disguised as a cellphone novelist, Yupina. Akira is almost always seen eating food besides Yukina, such as melon bread. Being Yukina's cousin doesn't stop him from being in love with her. He's never been apart from her since they were children. Yukina saved him from being hit by a car, therefore Akira has a strong devotion towards her, where she then promised they'd be together always. Ever since, Akira has long wished to be with his cousin, not in a cousin-love way, but a lover way. He wanted Yukina to see him as a man as well, which she soon does. He seems to sometimes be protective of her when Shigure is around. He often tells her that he does not want her to be around him anymore. He also has confessed that he is jealous also. Mami Mizuno is Shigure Kitami's childhood friend and seems to be quite possessive about him as she seems to get angry whenever she sees his shy expressions when Yukina Himuro's around. She seems to know about Shigure's secret of carrying a student notebook which includes names of the girls in his class and which he uses to keep track of how many girls have confessed to him and what methods have been used by them. Mami doesn't seem to like Yukina much as she is able to bring about real feelings of like and love from Shigure, which again indicates that Mami likes Shigure. Mami is also known to have a weak body and acts cute around everybody even though in reality she is evil. She even acts extra-friendly with Yukina. No voice actors have been added to this character.
