Synopsis

Shinya doesn't get stellar grades, he's not athletic, he's a coward, he's a wimp...he's a general good-for-nothing. One day, he meets Haruna, a girl that could change his life forever. Haruna tells Shinya he is the Messiah. The Lord chosen to save her world and that she is his shield. Could it be true? Could Shinya's life of ineptitude be balance for this one grand cause? Publication notes

Watashi no Messiah-sama was initially published in Shounen Gangan from January 12, 2002 to March 12, 2004. It moved to GFantasy on September 18, 2004 under the title Watashi no Messiah-sama: Lacrima. Volumes 1-6 retain the original title while volumes 7-13 contain the subtitle with the chapter count restarting at 0. In 2009, Kadokawa Shoten reprinted the series into six bunkoban volumes. This version edited the order of the chapters and didn't include the two one-shots, but instead added the kakioroshi chapter in volumes 5 and 6 titled "Kyou no Meshi 2009" (今日の飯2009).

The Princess of Ruin, Lilu is the most powerful magic-user in Celestia. She first came into play when she came through a portal into the real world. She first met Shinya and did not feel anything toward him. She called him weak and useless. When Shinya got her a doll, she started having some feelings, but not any strong feelings. When a bully found her and began treating her bad, and ripped the doll, she went berserk and was going to kill him with her magic, but she could not use any magic in Earth. Then Shinya arrived and saved her and fought a losing battle against the bully. When the bully left with Ryohei's help, Shinya fainted from the injuries. Lilu was very impressed and fell in love with Shinya because of that incident. She was going to put the "Guide to Domination" in his hand, but it got repelled. When she saw something glowing in his bag and found the "Guide to Salvation", she felt remorse that Shinya is the one enemy she must kill. Lilu is shown to love Shinya very much that she protected him from many injuries before. Shinya also shows great protection towards her even though he knows that she is his enemy. Lilu is able to gather all the elements around into two spheres which has a tetrashade color. With that, she is able to use destruction magic repeatedly without any strain, giving her the title the most powerful magic-user. An ordinary boy who is weak in both academics and sports, he has always been targeted by a gangs and bullies. He has no living kin which leads him to live a miserable life. One day, he found a love letter in his shoe-locker and he thought his life would totally change. After classes ended he went to the roof which was forbidden to any students and found Haruna . He was surprised that Haruna called him "Shinya-sama", which was said in a very polite expression. She said that he is the one who is destined to be the Messiah of Celestia world and the only one who can read the book the "Guide To Salvation" . At first, he told Haruna that he cannot read a single sheet of paper in the book and this truth surprised Haruna who thought that she has found her Messiah, which then caused her to be depressed because of her failure in finding the Messiah. When Shinya took the book from the school bully and got the book back, the book glowed and Shinya was able to read the "Guide To Salvation". Shinya currently holds the power of the Lighting Lord Ishtele, and perhaps the power of the Spear King, because it was not fully explained if the three idiots gave the power to him or not. Shinya's one and only friend. Ryohei was Shinya's friend since they were young. Ryohei is the complete opposite of Shinya. He is popular with everybody and is good at athletic activities. In ~Lacrima~, Ryohei loved a girl in his class named Natsue, but when the world government issued an order to kill anyone that was associated with the Messiah, she was shot 3 times. Ryohei's father who is a doctor tried everything he could to save her, but there was nothing else to do. Ryohei after he begins crying asks Shinya to bring Haruna to heal her, but Shinya who knew that if Haruna uses her magic power one more time would die, stops Ryohei from making the phone call. When Shinya stopped the phone call and Natsue's vital sign goes straight, Ryohei's Emperor power fully activated out of rage against Shinya. Ryohei had the "Guide To Domination" and had all the power of the Emperor, but out of his friendship for Shinya he had no intention of fighting against him, but after Shinya stopped him, he completely changed. Currently, he owns the White Sage, the Black Sage, the Frost Ogre, the Fire Lord, and the Wind Lord. He also is the new ruler of old Celestia after the murder of the Pope there. Haruna is the Shield of Messiah which is to protect the Messiah. She first asked Shinya to meet her at the roof of the school. Later when she gave him the "Guide To Salvation" and he was unable to read it; she begins crying thinking that she made a mistake. When Shinya saves the book and bring it back to her, Shinya got chosen by the book to become the Messiah. She was good friends with Lilu the Princess of Ruin, but that was shattered with Haruna unable to help Lilu when she was dragged off by the Prophet's acolyte to initiate her to become the Princess of Ruin. Haruna is in love with Shinya, but cannot fully express it because she is dying. Haruna's power is in healing the direct opposite of the Princess of Ruin's power which is to destroy. She can heal almost any lethal wound, but that comes with a drastic feedback. Her life force is shortening for every time she uses magic. She is dying from excessive use of magic. Shinya is meeting the ruler of New Celestia, who has the same power as Haruna. Currently, the new ruler sent out Haruna in her weakened state to find Xeon, the Lion Lord, because Shinya won't join New Celestia's side. He is the only one that can heal Haruna. The Prophet Vaul who was Haruna's guardian could possess her body and do physical activities, relay message, and even control her. He one time possessed her body and created time rips to destroy the Earth, but failed due to Shinya's love for her and her strong will with the help from Lilu. When she was the Priestess of Oblivion, she was able to use destruction magic with no strain to her body, we don't know if that was due to Vaul's combined strength. Miu is the Wing of Messiah. It is unknown which of the four saints resides within her. She is to lead the Messiah to the right places. Miu does not have any magical power or physical talents, but she has an intelligent mind and invents many odd inventions. One of her inventions is a vacuum that sucks all the elements from the nearby air, making all magical power useless in the area. She is shunned at a young age by her family, who are renowned for their magic prowess. She is abused by the villagers, until a kind inventor took her in. That is where her inventive mind presumably came from. When the inventor died from an illness, she was abused by the villagers again, until Hime came and protected her from the villagers.
