Synopsis

In a trash-filled apartment, 24-year-old Akira Tendou watches a zombie movie with lifeless, envious eyes. After spending three hard years at an exploitative corporation in Japan, his spirit is broken. He can't even muster the courage to confess his feelings to his beautiful co-worker Ohtori. Then one morning, he stumbles upon his landlord eating lunch—which happens to be another tenant! Age: 26 (Beginning of the story), 27 (Currently) Occupation: Former Overseas Investment Banker Raised in America, Shizuka was a former investment banker and grew up in a extremely competitive US market where her father is considered a giant in the financial investment world. Having to live through his strict upbringing, it had shaped her personality to become rather analytical and incredibly critical especially in a cut-throat world she came to know. She was sent and assigned to the Japan branch and she lives there by by herself. When the pandemic hit, she has lost contact with her American branch and is left to fend for herself. She compiled a list of "100 Things to do to avoid becoming a Zombie"; focused on analysing and researching ways to navigate and survive through the pandemic via her keen observation skills and knowledge gained from zombie movies & media. She meets Akira for the first time in convenience store while trying to gather supplies. In a calculated move, she manages to save Akira and escape from the convenience store. Sometime later, whilst escaping with a large group in a bus, she meets up with Akira and Kencho at the Aquarium. Though critical of Akira's random heroic actions, later she was saved by him when attacked by a Zombie Shark. She meets them again in an RV Expo Hall having a similar idea to Akira, in a turn of events, it gets overrun by zombies and is forced to join Akira in a randomly picked RV. She now travels with them. Shikuza carries herself with great intelligence and is often strategizing for the crew.

At the beginning he was optimistic about finally starting a career after graduating from college. To his dismay, is thrown into the deep-end; having to work 2 consecutive overtime all day shifts. He has spent 3 years in the black company only to be broken down and all of his optimism deteriorated to the point of depression, post-traumatic stress, & suicidal thoughts. When the Zombie Pandemic occurs, Akira comes to the realization that he no longer has to work and is finally free to do as he pleases. Free from all obligations, he decides to fulfil all his wishes which he couldn't before by compiling a Bucket-List of "100 Things to do before becoming a Zombie".

Age: 21 (Beginning of the story), 22 (Currently) Occupation: Former College Student From a young age, Beatrix came to love Japan, yearning to experience Japanese culture to her fullest. She traveled from Germany, unfortunately landing straight into a zombie pandemic much to her dismay. She meets and joins Akira and his friends to deliver fresh fish to the last remaining sushi chef. With her impressive wealth of knowledge of Japan (maybe even more so than the average Japanese person), she helps enrich the gang’s travels throughout Japan and encourages them to take part in the Japanese cultural customs. She also wields some Japanese weaponry including Shogunate Armor, a Naginata spear, Bow & Arrow, and a pair of Katanas. Being able to proficiently use them, she is often given the role to dispatch any zombies that get in the way.

Age: 24 (Beginning of the story), 25 (Currently) Occupation: Former Real Estate Agent Kencho was a Real Estate Agent and is Akira's best friend from the rugby club during their college/university days before the zombie pandemic. Their friendship drifted apart due to Akira's jealousy of his apparent success; unbeknownst to Akira, he constantly had to mask his dissatisfaction of his job and hated himself for becoming someone unethical due to the nature of his work. He reunites with Akira after communication lines have been restored and was able to be rescued by him at a love hotel in Shinjuku where he was trapped in for 3 days. They mend their friendship and Kencho joins him in his journey across Japan to fulfill their bucket-list. Kencho is quite the womanizer. His true aspirations is to become a stand-up comedian. His brand of comedy usually involve naked jokes.
