About this title
Synopsis
What kind of person will I become? What can I do for myself? Children ponder those very questions, and from those thoughts, the "Heart's Egg" is born. Unseen by most, the Heart's Egg remains hidden within every individual, and represents a person's own ideal character. While adjusting to life at a new school, Amu Hinamori has unintentionally gained a reputation for being "cool and spicy." Unhappy with her outward persona, Amu often wonders how she can act more like her true self. Her desire for change is manifested when one morning, Amu awakens to find three eggs beneath her. They hatch to reveal Ran, Miki and Suu—three "Guardian Characters," each an embodiment of Amu's ideal self. Shugo Chara! follows Amu's journey as the trio begin to show her just how much potential she has, encountering other Guardian Characters, and a few troublesome experiences along the way. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ikuto Tsukiyomi3852 fan favoritesExternal profileAge: 15 Birthday: December 1 Zodiac: Sagittarius Blood Type: AB Ikuto Tsukiyomi is a teenage boy contracted by Easter to find the Embryo. He often helps Amu even though he works for Easter. Ikuto actually despises Easter and tries to wrench himself free from them by trying to find the Embryo to grant his own wish. He possesses the Dumpty Key which pairs with Amu's Humpty Lock which at first did not fit in the keyhole. Like his father, Ikuto is a skilled violinist. His Shugo Chara is Yoru. Anon Black's Profile of Ikuto: Ikuto is tall, wears dark clothing, and has dark blue hair. He's got a signature smirk that can mean both "I'm flirting" and "I'm pleased with what you just said." His Chara-Change gives him cat ears and a tail, and causes him to behave much like a cat. His Chara-Nari is Black Lynx. Ikuto plays the violin, and is the son of a famous violinist. His father married his mother, who was the heir to Easter. The company ordered that he drop everything, including his violin, for Easter. His father refused and disappeared, leaving Ikuto's mother in such distress that she was admitted to a hospital. Ikuto came to live with Tadase's family, but was treated harshly by Tadase's mother, who was jealous of her husband's relationship with Ikuto's mother. Eventually, Ikuto ran away from home, going to Tsukasa's home for an unspecified amount of time, and returning a few years before the current time to Tadase's house. There he was found by Tadase's dog, Betty, who was dead, and Tadase's grandmother, who had collapsed. Ikuto was cursed out once again, but not until he'd stolen away Tadase's Dumpty Key, which Tadase's father had given to his son when Ikuto's father left. Because of this, Tadase and Ikuto have a very strained relationship, if any. Ikuto's personality as a child was quiet, shy, and protective of his friends—when he accepts the blame for breaking the vase, even when he knew he'd be chastised for it. This part of his personality stays through his adolescence—he is more than willing to sacrifice himself for the ones he holds dear, even if it means a few nights alone on the street, being captured by Easter, or playing the villain and making himself hated. It's obvious that Ikuto cares very much about Amu, and probably has a crush on her, especially in the way he acts with her in chapters 28-30. He seems to only show his true colors, and talk about himself, when he is in her presence. Of course, this is the way Peach-Pit has presented it to us. Ikuto acts aloof, cold, flirtatious, and mysterious. He appears at will, and is openly defiant of his superiors in Easter. It's obvious he doesn't like working there, and has his own reasons for wanting the Embryo that have yet to be revealed. He takes joy in teasing and flirting with Amu, especially in her reactions. In Shugo Chara! Doki, he stays at Easter to protect Utau. He doesn't even get near her, so that she won't have anything to do with Easter anymore.
Kuukai Souma280 fan favoritesExternal profileBirthday: August 17 Blood Type: A Guardian Chara: Daichi Age: 14 The upbeat and energetic former Jack's Chair, he is one year senior to Amu. As the captain of the Soccer Club, he is athletic and has good reflexes. He has graduated, which is the reason he has been replaced. Once, in the school magazine, he and Amu are mistaken to be a couple, as a student got a picture of him holding Amu after she came out of her Character Change, and lost her strength. Saaya appears to have a crush on him, as when she saw the picture of him with Amu, she was furious. Through the power of the Humpty Lock, he and Daichi managed a Character Transformation once, forming "Sky Jack." Daichi says the words "Kick, Stack, Trap and Shoot!" during a Character Change with Kukai. At the end of the school year, Kukai graduates and goes on to middle school. However, Kukai returns to visit the Guardians from time to time. He and Utau become good friends in both the anime and manga leading to a suspicious Yaya.
Miki197 fan favoritesExternal profileA Guardian Character with an artistic flair. A cool, quiet character. Her hairstyle is a short bob cut. She usually wears a pair of half-cut pants, a sky blue beret with a spade on it, and a blue themed outfit. Miki has shown an interest in both Tadase's Character, Kiseki, and Ikuto's Character, Yoru. She comments that Yoru is cool and his tail is cute. This may imply the situation in Amu's heart. In the anime, she is also shown to like Musashi, Kairi's Chara. Though Amu doesn't love Kairi herself, he does have a crush on her. The main ability after Character Change is an increased artistic sense but that power is recklessly abused. Amu becomes "Amulet Spade" when she Character Transforms with Miki. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color blue. Amu wears a white frilly blouse with a pair of light blue pants. She also wears long, striped stockings and a garter belt; all in a blue themed costume. Her special move is "Colorful Canvas," where she paints with a giant paintbrush. Miki says "Drew, Draw, Drawn" during a Character Transformation with Amu. When first introduced, Miki saw that Amu was yelling at Ran (First hatched Guardian) so that she could leave her life. Miki ran away being scared by Amus outburst. Miki was later found out to be Amus spade guardian. Miki is shy, yet also out-going at the same time.
Rima Mashiro178 fan favoritesExternal profileBirthday: February 6 The girl serving as the new Q-Chair. She is a transfer student and the same age as Amu. At one point of the manga, while looking for X Eggs with Amu, she Character transforms and destroys one unnecessarily. She is bad at sports. Her Character Transformation with Kusu Kusu is called "Clown Drop." When she does Character Change she becomes a gag character which she dislikes and is at first laughed at for, and often uses a signature phrase "Bala-Balance" (Balancing Balance) from the Magazine Gag Manga Daiō. Her Guardian Character, Kusu Kusu, is a clown because she likes stand up comedians, and tries to make her parents laugh at home, because they were always arguing about who raised Rima, although she is unsuccessful. After episode 32 she is seen being together with Amu for P.E. Later, she opens up to Amu and becomes friends with her. She even teases Amu in episode 34 about her fear of ghosts. Though, she dislikes Nadeshiko, the former queen, because she heard the Guardians talk about Nadeshiko being Amu's best friend. She also later discovered in Chapter 34 that Nagihiko is actually Nadeshiko. But they team up, and fight the x-eggs. After when everyone graduates, Rima and the other guardians throw a party and take a picture for best memories.
Suu99 fan favoritesExternal profileA Guardian Character skilled in baking sweets and doing house work. A "my pace" character that is prone to silly mistakes. She has short hair with the sides grown long, curling inwards. She wears a bandanna on her head with a clover shaped hair clip and a green theme maid outfit. Dislikes caterpillars. She is also very fond of Amu's teacher, Nikaidou, showing this by giving him new, hot coffee, cleaning up his "lab," and showing excitement when she sees him by saying things like, "Sensei!" and hugging him. Amu gains an improvement in cooking during Character Change. Magical abilities like summoning large amounts of whip cream is also observed. In addition her speech and behavior becomes more lady-like. She has a habit of ending her sentences with "-desu" in the Japanese version. Amu becomes "Amulet Clover" when she Character Transforms with Suu. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color green. She wears a green themed balloon skirt maid costume. Her special skill is "Remake Honey," a restoration type skill. Suu says "Chip, Syrup, Whip!" during a Character Change with Amu. Ran's, Miki's and Suu's Character Transformations all share another special skill, "Open Heart!" It is a skill that cleanse X eggs and X Characters. However, Suu's skill of "Open Heart" has never been shown as of yet, probably due to the fact that she uses "Remake Honey" as a cleansing attack.
Ran80 fan favoritesExternal profileThe first to come out from Amu's Eggs. An athletic and honest character. Her hair is tied in a side pony tail. She has a pink sun visor, a red themed cheerleader outfit, and wears a heart shaped hair clip. Dislikes silence. During Character Change, Amu gains increased athletic abilities. Amu becomes "Amulet Heart" when she Character Transforms with Ran. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color pink. Amu dons a pink themed cheerleader costume in this form. Pepe says "Pretty, Cutie, Love Baby!" during a Character Change with Yaya.
