About this title
Synopsis
The magical girl classic finally continues with this sequel manga to Shugo Chara! Amu Hinamori, the Joker Guardian, is a middle schooler now—back with friends and rivals old and new. Sugar and spice, and everything nice—that may be what girls are made of, but Amu Hinamori is so much cooler, especially now that she's left behind her days at Seiyo Elementary and became a middle schooler! After transferring to Arcana Academy on a special assignment, her role as the Joker Guardian is to intervene in a crisis that is causing students to lose hope and confidence in themselves. But she has another, more important secret mission: to retrieve the all-powerful, mysterious Arcana Jewels. (Source: Kodansha USA)

Ikuto Tsukiyomi3852 fan favoritesExternal profileAge: 15 Birthday: December 1 Zodiac: Sagittarius Blood Type: AB Ikuto Tsukiyomi is a teenage boy contracted by Easter to find the Embryo. He often helps Amu even though he works for Easter. Ikuto actually despises Easter and tries to wrench himself free from them by trying to find the Embryo to grant his own wish. He possesses the Dumpty Key which pairs with Amu's Humpty Lock which at first did not fit in the keyhole. Like his father, Ikuto is a skilled violinist. His Shugo Chara is Yoru. Anon Black's Profile of Ikuto: Ikuto is tall, wears dark clothing, and has dark blue hair. He's got a signature smirk that can mean both "I'm flirting" and "I'm pleased with what you just said." His Chara-Change gives him cat ears and a tail, and causes him to behave much like a cat. His Chara-Nari is Black Lynx. Ikuto plays the violin, and is the son of a famous violinist. His father married his mother, who was the heir to Easter. The company ordered that he drop everything, including his violin, for Easter. His father refused and disappeared, leaving Ikuto's mother in such distress that she was admitted to a hospital. Ikuto came to live with Tadase's family, but was treated harshly by Tadase's mother, who was jealous of her husband's relationship with Ikuto's mother. Eventually, Ikuto ran away from home, going to Tsukasa's home for an unspecified amount of time, and returning a few years before the current time to Tadase's house. There he was found by Tadase's dog, Betty, who was dead, and Tadase's grandmother, who had collapsed. Ikuto was cursed out once again, but not until he'd stolen away Tadase's Dumpty Key, which Tadase's father had given to his son when Ikuto's father left. Because of this, Tadase and Ikuto have a very strained relationship, if any. Ikuto's personality as a child was quiet, shy, and protective of his friends—when he accepts the blame for breaking the vase, even when he knew he'd be chastised for it. This part of his personality stays through his adolescence—he is more than willing to sacrifice himself for the ones he holds dear, even if it means a few nights alone on the street, being captured by Easter, or playing the villain and making himself hated. It's obvious that Ikuto cares very much about Amu, and probably has a crush on her, especially in the way he acts with her in chapters 28-30. He seems to only show his true colors, and talk about himself, when he is in her presence. Of course, this is the way Peach-Pit has presented it to us. Ikuto acts aloof, cold, flirtatious, and mysterious. He appears at will, and is openly defiant of his superiors in Easter. It's obvious he doesn't like working there, and has his own reasons for wanting the Embryo that have yet to be revealed. He takes joy in teasing and flirting with Amu, especially in her reactions. In Shugo Chara! Doki, he stays at Easter to protect Utau. He doesn't even get near her, so that she won't have anything to do with Easter anymore.
Amu Hinamori1451 fan favoritesExternal profileAge: 11-13 Birthday: September 24 Horoscope: Libra Height: 154 cm Weight: 38 kg Blood type: O Guardian Chara: Ran, Miki, Su, Dia Amu Hinamori, the series protagonist, is a student of Seiyo Elementary. Amu's classmates see her as a "Cool and Spicy" girl, but Amu is actually extremely shy and timid. Part of the reason for this misunderstanding is the trendy punk clothing her mother buys for her as well as the way in which she expresses her shyness and avoids doing new things. However, when Amu wishes for the courage to be reborn as her "would-be self", three colorful eggs appear the next morning, which later give birth to Amu's three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.
Miki197 fan favoritesExternal profileA Guardian Character with an artistic flair. A cool, quiet character. Her hairstyle is a short bob cut. She usually wears a pair of half-cut pants, a sky blue beret with a spade on it, and a blue themed outfit. Miki has shown an interest in both Tadase's Character, Kiseki, and Ikuto's Character, Yoru. She comments that Yoru is cool and his tail is cute. This may imply the situation in Amu's heart. In the anime, she is also shown to like Musashi, Kairi's Chara. Though Amu doesn't love Kairi herself, he does have a crush on her. The main ability after Character Change is an increased artistic sense but that power is recklessly abused. Amu becomes "Amulet Spade" when she Character Transforms with Miki. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color blue. Amu wears a white frilly blouse with a pair of light blue pants. She also wears long, striped stockings and a garter belt; all in a blue themed costume. Her special move is "Colorful Canvas," where she paints with a giant paintbrush. Miki says "Drew, Draw, Drawn" during a Character Transformation with Amu. When first introduced, Miki saw that Amu was yelling at Ran (First hatched Guardian) so that she could leave her life. Miki ran away being scared by Amus outburst. Miki was later found out to be Amus spade guardian. Miki is shy, yet also out-going at the same time.
Tadase Hotori171 fan favoritesExternal profileAge:13 Birthday: March 29th Horoscope: Aries Blood Type : B A kind-hearted and mature boy the same age as Amu who serves as the K-Chair (King's Chair). His alias is "Prince", as he is a bishounen, and he is Amu's love interest. Whenever he is called "Prince," his character changes into a violent, egotistical king who wishes to rule the world. Because of this, he does not do Character Change with Kiseki unless it is absolutely necessary. Actually, he too is a shy person and is not a public speaker. Because of this, he wished to become another, stronger character, much like Amu. He lives in a traditional Japanese house. He had a precious dog named Betty (name learned in volume 2 of the manga) who died recently, and is still upset about it. He, along with the other guardians, tried to get Amu to join because of a prophecy about a girl who will appear with three Guardian Eggs. At one time he lost confidence, as he could not seem to find the Embryo at all. He was then affected by the Black Diamonds CD, causing Kiseki to change to an X egg. Amu helped him out of this crisis and he is now able to Character Transform with Kiseki, becoming "Platinum Royale". During a Character Change, his attack is "Holy Crown", in which he creates a golden shield of energy around himself, where as in his Character Transformation, it is "White Decoration", which cleanses X-Eggs. When he becomes "Platinum Royale" he has lots of frills and laces. It is said the writer purposely did this to make him more princely. He had a crush on "Amulet Heart". He also said that he loved Amu because "Amulet Heart" is her "self that she wants to be". At first he is about the same height as Amu, but as the story progresses, he grows taller. In chapter 28 and/or episode 74, Tadase confesses that he likes Amu by asking if it was OK to fall in love with her, saying that he has learned Amu really is herself and doesn't think about "Amulet Heart" anymore. Ikuto, hidden in the closet, hears his confession to Amu. Ikuto becomes jealous of Tadase. In episode 28,
Suu99 fan favoritesExternal profileA Guardian Character skilled in baking sweets and doing house work. A "my pace" character that is prone to silly mistakes. She has short hair with the sides grown long, curling inwards. She wears a bandanna on her head with a clover shaped hair clip and a green theme maid outfit. Dislikes caterpillars. She is also very fond of Amu's teacher, Nikaidou, showing this by giving him new, hot coffee, cleaning up his "lab," and showing excitement when she sees him by saying things like, "Sensei!" and hugging him. Amu gains an improvement in cooking during Character Change. Magical abilities like summoning large amounts of whip cream is also observed. In addition her speech and behavior becomes more lady-like. She has a habit of ending her sentences with "-desu" in the Japanese version. Amu becomes "Amulet Clover" when she Character Transforms with Suu. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color green. She wears a green themed balloon skirt maid costume. Her special skill is "Remake Honey," a restoration type skill. Suu says "Chip, Syrup, Whip!" during a Character Change with Amu. Ran's, Miki's and Suu's Character Transformations all share another special skill, "Open Heart!" It is a skill that cleanse X eggs and X Characters. However, Suu's skill of "Open Heart" has never been shown as of yet, probably due to the fact that she uses "Remake Honey" as a cleansing attack.
Ran80 fan favoritesExternal profileThe first to come out from Amu's Eggs. An athletic and honest character. Her hair is tied in a side pony tail. She has a pink sun visor, a red themed cheerleader outfit, and wears a heart shaped hair clip. Dislikes silence. During Character Change, Amu gains increased athletic abilities. Little wings appear at her wrists and ankles, which allows her to jump high and fly. Having a straight forward personality, Ran made Amu confesses her crush to Tadase on their first Character Change. Amu becomes "Amulet Heart" when she Character Transforms with Ran. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color pink. Amu dons a pink themed cheerleader costume in this form. Her special move is "Spiral Heart" which is executed with the Heart Rod. When Amu does Character Change with Ran, Ran says "Hop, Step, Jump." Ran was seen on Peach-Pit's website before the publication of Shugo Chara!, volume 1.
Diamond46 fan favoritesExternal profileDiamond (true name unknown) is Amu's fourth Guardian Character, with a musical flair. She became an X Egg when Amu disliked all the changes that were happening, and then hatched as an X Character after Utau finds her egg and character tranforms with her as Dark Jewel. Since Amu did not know Dia's real name, Amu just calls the Guardian Character "Dia", a shorter form of "Diamond." When Amu convinces Dia that she can change, the "X-mark" is lifted and a Character Transformation sparks as the two become "Amulet Diamond." Dia didn't like Amu because she didn't have a sparkling heart like Utau but finds out later that Amu does so she goes back to Amu. Afterward, Dia goes back into her egg to slumber until Amu "shines again". She rarely but does come out in some episodes once in a while.
