Ash Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the japanese animation, Pokémon. There are also incarnations of him in the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, the Pocket Monsters Zensho manga, and the Ash & Pikachu manga. He is loosely based on the male protagonist of the Pokémon Red and Blue. The family name "Ketchum" is a pun of the anime's former tagline and slogan "Gotta catch 'em all!" At the beginning of the series, Ash was 10 years old. In the short called "Pikachu & Pichu" which was attached to Pokémon 3: The Movie, he said the day when the events depicted in the short took place was the day he met Pikachu, meaning his age at that time would be at least 11. However, two seasons later, the official Japanese Pokémon website reported that Ash was the same age as May, who was 10 years old at the time. This and the fact that the two are at the same height suggests that none of the characters have aged since the show began, placing the Pokemon anime in a floating timeline. Ash is a caring and valiant trainer but he can be confident to the point of arrogance and is known for being stubborn at times. He also has quite the reckless streak, which has led him to troublesome situations and even near death. But when in a Pokémon battle, he is highly competitive, and he shows tremendous presence of mind, taking advantage of the battlefield as well the nature of his and the enemy Pokémon's moves to claim victory after victory, though he has been known to lose from time to time. Ash has matured greatly over the course of the series, and has considerably improved his abilities as a trainer, but his earnestness and determination remain the same. During the first season of the series, Ash trained to catch more Pokémon than his childhood rival, Gary Oak, although Gary has caught more. He soon begins to focus more on each of his Pokémon's abilities. He also impresses many trainers by winning battles in which his Pokémon has a type disadvantage. At the Johto League Silver Conference Ash finally won a battle against Gary. Throughout the anime, Ash has met a number of rivals, including Richie, whom he faced in the Indigo League, and Casey, a diehard Electabuzz fanatic. During Pokémon tournaments, Ash has made rivals out of Harrison, Jackson, Morrison, and Tyson (the last of which went on to become the champion of the Hoenn Pokémon league). Near the beginning of Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl, Ash meets an arrogant young trainer named Paul, who quickly becomes his new rival. Ash's primary nemesis is a group of comical antagonists named Team Rocket. Ever since the second episode, "Pokémon Emergency!" two Team Rocket operatives named Jessie and James, along with a talking Meowth, have always tried to steal his first Pokémon Pikachu but have always failed. There are some occasions when they work together like the Pokémon: The Movie 2000. Ash's mother is Delia Ketchum (Hanako in Japan). She is a caring and thoughtful woman, though occasionally oblivious as her son, and in the English version of the anime often pesters him to change his boxer shorts every day, a gag throughout the early episodes of the first few series. The identity of his father has remained unknown. One reference to him exists in the anime. During a phone conversation between Ash and his mother in the second episode, she states to her amazement that he got from Pallet Town to Viridian City in one day. "It took your father four days to get there when he started Pokémon training," she says, "He'll be so proud!" A line from the play, Pokémon Live!, suggests that Delia, at one time, had a relationship with the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni when she was a teenager, but in the anime, no evidence of Giovanni being Ash's father has been shown currently. In the episode "Showdown at Dark City," Ash went by the name of Tom Ato (tomato) after spotting some ketchup that Pikachu was eating. He had to disguise his name, so that his real name would not get a bad reputation, since he was dealing with the rivaling Yas and Kas gyms. Ash was based off Red, a playable character from the generation l games, Pokémon Red, Blue and Green, he was also based off Satoshi Tajiri's childhood self.

Pikachu is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur. A female Pikachu has a "V"-shaped notch at the end of its tail, which looks like the top of a heart. It is classified as a quadruped, but it has been known to stand and walk on its hind legs; therefore, Pikachu is a facultative biped. Pikachu stores electric energy using the small pouches in its cheeks in case it is attacked, so one might feel a small shock if it is touched. These pouches become electrically charged during the night as it sleeps, so a dozy Pikachu may occasionally discharge electricity after waking up. If it does not get enough sleep, it will not be able to release said electricity at its full power. When angered or threatened, Pikachu quickly unleashes the electric energy from its cheeks, which can reach the intensity of a lightning bolt. This also serves as a sign that it's wary, and it will feel stressed if it's unable to fully release the electricity. In Sparks Fly for Magnemite (EP030), Pikachu is shown to accumulate energy in its glands, which it will need to eject to avoid complications. When several Pikachu form a group, they are capable of causing thunder storms by building up electricity. If one Pikachu sees another one who is weakened and in need of help, it revitalizes it by recharging it with an electric shock. In Alola, a plan was recently announced to help build an electric power plant by gathering many Pikachu. If its cheek sacs are very soft and stretchy, this means that it can generate powerful electricity. As shown in Pokémon Sleep, Pikachu is known to emit electricity through its cheeks while sleeping, perhaps because it's dreaming of firing electric shots. Pikachu is a curious, playful, and intelligent Pokémon who primarily eats fruits and roasts Berries with its electricity to make them tender enough to eat. However, it can end up accidentally burning them too much if it underestimates the intensity of its charge, as it has a tendency to blast new things it finds. In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, it is also depicted eating and sometimes destroying telephone poles, wires, and other electronic equipment. Pikachu raises its tail to monitor its surroundings and bites people who yank it, as it does not like having it pulled. While doing this, its tail is sometimes struck by lightning. Wild Pikachu live in forested areas away from people and with others of its kind in nests, as seen in the Pokémon the Series episode Pikachu's Goodbye (EP039). Such forests are dangerous, though, as trees there are often struck by lightning. When Pikachu meet, their tails make contact and they exchange electricity through them to greet each other. Relatedly, in A Plethora of Pikachu! (SM091), it is shown that Pikachu from Alola are known to greet each other by sniffing one another and rubbing their tails together. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, it is considered exceptionally rare, though it seems to be a quite common Pokémon in other forms of media. Many Pokémon Trainers prefer Pikachu's cute appearance over Raichu's, which is why the latter is not commonly seen among them. Because of the popularity of Pikachu-themed merchandise, dresses itself in a Pikachu cloth in an effort to look less scary and make friends and appease its loneliness. Unfortunately, its creepy costume only ends up doing the opposite. By occasion, Pikachu can get unintentionally swallowed by . While startled, it looks for ways to escape from the latter. Pikachu, along with Pichu and Raichu, is related to . Forms Pikachu has sixteen additional forms that fall into four groups: Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, the partner Pikachu, and Gigantamax Pikachu. Additionally, many other Pikachu variants have appeared in various media. Cosplay Pikachu Cosplay Pikachu is always female, has a black heart-shaped spot at the end of its tail, and can be dressed in any of five outfits corresponding to the five Contest conditions. Pikachu in a cap Pikachu in a cap is always male and has eight variants, each wearing one of Ash's hats from Pokémon the Series. Pikachu in a cap is the only known Pokémon capable of using the Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Pikachu in a Cap cannot use Catastropika or Gigantamax. Partner Pikachu The partner Pikachu is the Pokémon the player starts with in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!. This Pikachu can be either gender. It has higher base stats than normal Pikachu. Unlike other Pikachu, the partner Pikachu can learn the exclusive moves Zippy Zap, Floaty Fall, and Splishy Splash, as well as having access to the Partner Power Pika Papow. The partner Pikachu is not differentiated from standard Pikachu in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!'s Pokédex, and it cannot be transferred out of the games. Gigantamax Pikachu As Gigantamax Pikachu, it becomes larger and chubbier. Its tail becomes longer and becomes capable of storing all of the electricity it generates, causing it to glow a bright yellow and enabling it to become as powerful as a lightning strike. Three red clouds float around the tail. Its power is equal to that of a power plant; however, it is difficult to use it in peoples' homes since Pikachu can only remain in its Gigantamax form for a short time. Mr. Windychu & Ms. Wavychu Mr. Windychu and Mrs. Wavychu will be characters in Pokémon Winds and Waves respectively. They resemble a tanned Pikachu with clothes similar to the playable character. No further information is known. Evolution Pikachu evolves from and evolves into . In Alola, it evolves into Alolan Raichu. Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, Partner Pikachu, and Pikachu with the Gigantamax Factor cannot evolve. (Source: Bulbapedia)

Lucario is a bipedal, canine-like Pokémon with predominantly blue and black fur. It possesses a short, round spike on the back of each forepaw, in addition to a third on its chest. It has red eyes, a long snout, and ears. When its mouth is open, two pairs of pointed teeth, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower, can be seen. It possesses cream-colored fur on its torso and blue fur on its thighs that resemble shorts. It has a medium-length tail of the same blue color as well. It stands on its toes rather than on its entire foot. Lucario has four black appendages that hang down from its head, which rise when it reads or manipulates aura, a special energy that it senses. Lucario can study auras to predict the movements of its opponents and track their quarry. With sufficient training, it can read auras to understand how living beings are feeling from more than half a mile (1 kilometer) away. It can even use this ability to sense invisible foes. However, it sometimes ends up learning information that it would not like to know, causing it to get stressed out easily. It also has the power to manipulate this energy in an offensive manner, such as in the form of explosive spheres of energy. Lucario can understand human speech and has been reported to communicate with humans through telepathy. In Pokémon Adventures, it was even shown to be able to stop its allies from an Aegislash's mind control using its aura. As shown in Pokémon Horizons: The Series with 's Lucario, a Shiny Lucario emits yellow aura as opposed to the standard blue-colored aura emitted by other creatures. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Lucario's eyes glow golden (instead of blue as in the anime) when using its aura vision. Lucario is considered to be prideful and is extremely loyal to its Trainer. It also seems to have a natural sense of justice, as it only trusts Trainers with righteous hearts. It is an exceptionally rare Pokémon that usually lives deep in mountains very far from people to improve their skills. Lucario are primarily carnivores, hunting their prey in packs, though one was seen eating Berries and plants like roses. It has also been seen eating chocolate, which is not part of its natural diet. In Pokémon the Series, it is shown that Lucario can create a staff in the form of a bone to use in battle. As mentioned in the Pokemon Sleep, Lucario never lowers its guard, even when sleeping. It is believed that it reads the auras of others while asleep similarly to when it is awake. Forms Lucario can Mega Evolve into Mega Lucario or Mega Lucario Z. Mega Lucario As Mega Lucario, its blue fur becomes teal blue, its cream fur becomes longer, and its thighs slim down. Mega Lucario's arms appear more muscular and it develops more spikes on the back of its paws, which have turned deep crimson. It also develops spikes on both of its feet, which have become crimson too. Its previously red eyes take on an orange tint. Its aura-sensing appendages grow longer, and two of them are tipped in crimson. Its shoulders also possess a spike each. Black markings appear all over its its body. Mega Lucario is believed to be the first discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon. A legend told at the Tower of Mastery claims that a Trainer and a Lucario found the first Mega and Key Stones and unleashed the world's first Mega Evolution. After the discovery of Mega in the Hoenn region, Mega Lucario was instead believed to be the first Pokémon to Mega Evolve in Kalos. Its aura heightens throughout its body and forms black markings across its blue fur along with the intermingled energy of Mega Evolution. Mega Lucario readies itself to face its enemies by focusing its mental energies. Its fighting style has been described as heartless due to it being bathed in the explosive energy of Mega Evolution, which awakens its combative instincts and causes it to mercilessly attack its opponents. Mega Lucario Z As Mega Lucario Z, parts of its body — namely its head, ears, arms, thighs, and tail — turn a dark gunmetal gray, while its forearms and legs turn completely teal. Its eyes turn bright blue with thick black outlines around them, and its face is decorated with an elaborate, silver pattern consisting of circles and crescent shapes. This silver pattern circles the back of Mega Lucario Z's head and extends halfway into its head appendages, which are clumped into two instead of being separated as four. These appendages grow out to reach Mega Lucario Z's knees, and have zig-zag seams on their sides and zig-zag tips at their ends. Two long strands of blue hair with zig-zag tips extend from behind Mega Lucario Z's head and over its ears, which have silver crescent patterns on them. The cream fur on Mega Lucario Z's torso is longer but flares to its right side at the bottom, unlike on Mega Lucario where it forms its tail. Mega Lucario Z's tail is split into two at the tip, and more silver stripes circle around its waist and thighs. Finally, the chest protrusion on Mega Lucario Z is round and shield-like with an S-shaped seam instead of pointy; similar round metal protrusions occur on Mega Lucario Z's hands, shins, and feet. Mega Lucario Z's powers are said to greatly surpass those of a regular Lucario. It is named as such to differentiate it from the previously discovered Mega Lucario. It uses the longer fur surrounding its head and waist, along with its fan-shaped tail, to visually disorient opponents in close combat. This makes it difficult for them to see its aggressive movements. Additionally, parts of its fur have been hardened with steel energy. By focusing its strength into these hardened areas—specifically the back of its hands and shins—it can deliver powerful blows despite its appearance. It can utilize its powerful aura in various ways, such as extending it into a thin shield or concentrating it into specific parts of its body, like its legs or fists, to enhance its attacks. While Mega Lucario channels its aura into a destructive force, Mega Lucario Z uses it in a more defensive manner by cloaking itself in it to increase its defense, flexibility, and agility, allowing it to parry any attack. In doing so, it battles as if it was gracefully dancing. Evolution Lucario evolves from . (Source: Bulbapedia)

Scorbunny is a rabbit-like Pokémon that has a predominantly white body with orange and yellow markings on its ears, toes, and neck. The markings on its neck resemble a collar. It has buckteeth, black beady eyes with orange accents, and an orange nose with a yellow band shape across it, resembling a bandage. It has long legs with long feet, and similar yellow bands under each paw pad. It also has a small, white, poofy tail. Scorbunny loves to run and is filled with energy. A warm-up run can cause the fire energy in Scorbunny to start coursing through its body, allowing it to fight at full power. It has a sac in its chest that contains fire energy, which it uses to generate heat from the special pads on the soles of its feet and nose, once it is ready to fight. The pads on Scorbunny's feet can get so hot that it is capable of using them to start small fires and burn opponents with a kick. The anime has shown that its heat pads can also thaw others out of ice. By using its powerful legs, Scorbunny can run and jump around its opponents to confuse and disorient them. Cinderace is a bipedal, rabbit-like Pokémon. Most of its torso and head, as well as its arms and tail, are white. Cinderace has long white ears, the insides of which are yellow. Its white eyes, which have red-orange irises, have a deep navy pattern below them and yellow eyebrows above them. These eyebrows connect at the nose, which is red-orange, and form a "crown", which connects to the red-orange tuft of hair sticking out from its forehead, similar to a flame. It has two whisker-like tufts of white fur on each side of its face. Over each shoulder is a navy patch of fur, resembling a shoulder brace, which continues down the torso and connect at middle of the chest, creating what resembles a sports tank top. This navy-colored fur is also seen on its lower torso, creating what resembles a belt. The fur on its lower body is colored red-orange and resembles a pair of pants, with yellow pockets and ending in yellow tufts at the knees, with little tufts of fur on the backside of its thighs. Its ankles and feet are colored navy-blue and tipped red-orange at the toes. On the underside of each foot, there are three yellow dots of fur, from which it fires flames when attacking opponents. By juggling a pebble with its feet, Cinderace can transform it into a burning soccer ball. By putting a spin on the ball, it can launch attacks that its opponents struggle to evade. The shots it fires can leave an opponent scorched. Cinderace has great offensive and defensive capabilities, being one of the best at explosive force, jumping ability, and kicking power. Due to its strong core and great balance, Cinderace can unleash powerful kicks from any position. In battle, it uses artful footwork to feint and throw its opponents off. Cinderace can get pumped up with excitement should it get cheered on. However, it may get itself in trouble if it starts showboating. Forms Cinderace has a Gigantamax form. As Gigantamax Cinderace, its body is generally larger with very few alterations, save for its ears which have become longer. It rides on a fireball enlarged by Gigantamax energy, sometimes exceeding 300 feet (90 meters) in size. The fireball has a white nose and eyes, as well as several wisps of fire resembling Cinderace's ears and crown-like eyebrows. Three red clouds float above Gigantamax Cinderace. Using its well-honed techniques and fighting spirit, it can make its fireball chase after opponents almost like it had a mind of its own, and thus this attack will never miss. Gigantamax Cinderace is said to have the strongest leg strength of any Pokémon. Without its giant Pyro Ball, it can still overwhelm even a Dynamax Pokémon by delivering powerful kicking moves. It stands on its toes instead of its entire foot. It is sensitive to a special type of energy called Aura; however, it does not have the ability to fully use these powers, although it can still emanate these waves to communicate and sense them, albeit only in ripples. It has developed two black appendages that hang down from its head, which rise when Riolu reads or manipulates aura. It has even been seen that Riolu can sense and react to Aura before they even hatch. The aura emitting from Riolu's body grows even stronger when it is frightened or sad. Like most Fighting-type Pokémon, Riolu naturally has superhuman strength, stamina, and endurance. It is capable of making long journeys on foot in a short amount of time. It is a playful, energetic, and loyal Pokémon. It is also known to be tough and hard working. Riolu will read the minds of humans to assure whether or not they are pure of heart. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, Riolu tends to sleep in an unusual position. This position is sitting up while not lying down, similar to Lucario. Grookey is a small, monkey-like Pokémon with a green body, a brown tail, brown wedge-shaped ears, orange hands and feet, and an orange snout. Each of its hands has five fingers, while each of its feet has three toes. It has two large white eyes with black irises. A lime green mask pattern frames its eyes, and extends towards its forehead in a small bump above its snout. Grookey has two, leaf-shaped hair tufts that hold a stick on the top of its head. The stick used to be a branch from a forest where troops of Grookey lived, and it has a special power due to being exposed to the energy within Grookey's body. This energy helps Grookey's stick grow harder and more flexible. Besides using it when attacking, Grookey beats this stick rhythmically against the surfaces of all sorts of objects. This has been observed to cause grass to grow, and wilted flowers and leaves to seemingly regain their color. As depicted in the Pokémon Journeys: The Series episode Beyond Chivalry… Aiming to be a Leek Master! (JN060), it can even restore weakened plant-like Pokémon such as Bellsprout. Grookey's green fur can create energy from the sunlight, similar to how plants use their green leaves to photosynthesize. Grookey is said to be full of boundless curiosity. It enjoys being in high places, and rhythmic things such as music or dancing. It has been recently seen living in the Terarium of Blueberry Academy. It has thick, fluffy fur in multiple colors: the fur on its head, hands, and small tail are grayish-white, while the fur on its body is primarily black, with red colorations on its arms, shoulders, and front half of its feet. It also has a fur collar that covers its neck and mouth like a balaclava, while its belly has tufts that are similar in appearance and function to jacket pockets. Raboot's fur protects it from the cold, and allows it to use hotter fire moves, which it delivers through the yellow marks on its forehead and soles. Raboot also has long ears, a few tufts of fur on top of its head, red irises, and a small yellow nose. Raboot usually practices its footwork by kicking Berries from a tree's branches and then juggling them with its feet.
